Aaaand we're in the top 4. I'd love to go back to the sports thread and quote everyone that gave us shit and sucked Belgium's D, but I'm too lazy for that.

Only 2 more matches.

Oh, Zellogan, better luck in 4 years. Maybe then you'll shove it in my face, maybe not.

lol Belgium? Like the commentator said, a lot of individual talent, but as a team they suck. Hazard wasn't even in that game.

Second youngest team of the tournament, no belgians really believed in a victory. We were dreaming about it but that s it. We did the wc expected from us: quarter and loss vs argentina.

We will likely be much stronger in 4 years and we played without our titular forward benteke. Future is bright.

The match itself was the same as france - germany. Early goal and control of the game. Well done argentina

Well, Argentina did not produce any fireworks reaching SF, so, they will still need to up their game. There were patches of good football from Brazil (Colombia game, first half), Germany (Algeria game, second half; France game, first half) and their probable opponent, Netherlands (Mexico game, second half; Australia game, second half; Spain game, second half), so, Argentina is probably the underdog in the last four.
Then again, once it's QF and onwards, good play, performance coming into that game, etc. completely becomes irrelevant. Once a big team smells trophy, they will try and play better.

In a Argentina vs Netherlands game, it will be wide open, anyways.

If Argentina wins the WC it will be an outrage for the football. A team that keeps not convincing me, and lives simply of individual quality of some of their players and the easy drawn they had.

Not that they weren't superior than Belgium, because they were, but please.
If i have any wish for this World Cup is for Argentina not to win it.

The same way we played shitty and we didn't deserve to get through, the same should had happened for Argentina. They have 2 games to prove that they are indeed better than what i think, but i hope they don't.

I hope the winner of this World Cup comes from Germany vs Brazil match-up.

Who am I kidding.

Argentina always fucks up somehow around the quarterfinals. They just don't have that team chemistry, they're good individually but they could be so much better than they are right now as a team. I see them getting eliminated in the quarterfinals.
The best chance Messi would've had to win a WC would've been to become a Spanish citizen
Belgium doesn't have any chance of winning the WC, to be honest, but I think that they have more potential than Argentina and they're more of a team. In direct comparisons, apart from Messi, Aguero (although not according to the numbers for him), and Zabaleta, Belgium are better.

Spain, Germany, Brazil, and Italy (although their hopes require Andrea Pirlo to be fully fit) are the only nations with any real hope of winning the WC.
Argentina doesn't have a chance, lol. The attacking unit can't possibly carry the rest of the team. And the fact that Barcelona hasn't won anything should really hurt Messi's performance.
Messi era is ending. I already saw this before, now that he is hurting continuously he won't play as good as before anymore, I'm not worried neither Messi nor Argetina, really.
Given the overall quality, even if 10th is really low, it's possible.
Brazil, Spain, Italy, England, Germany, Belgium, Netherlands, Columbia, Portugal, France ....
The number of potential winners is really big this time.
I will tell you that I'll favor France and Portugal above Argentina.
:hee

I think Argentina is going to win it, and messi is going to rape every team in his path winning everything and leaving a trail of brazilian tears in his path.

Now THAT would be fun.
:hi5

Such is life, Argentinian. I did pick Argentina to beat Belgium, for what it's worth. Going into the tournament, everything looked different.

Anyway, I thought that the ref made some calls that were perhaps a bit unfair to Belgium, but such is life. Belgium couldn't get the ball into the net and that's how it was. I don't think that the Netherlands, if they get past Costa Rica, will look as toothless as Belgium did.

A portuguese talking about "lives simply of individual quality of some of their players" is hilarious. They're still waiting CR7 do something even now. :lmao

These players were there to decide the match, that's their roles and they made part of Argentina team.

We could had won it 3-0, the 2nd and 3rd best plays of the match were ours. They barely did shit other than crossing the entire match.

Absolutely no one. Some teams look great one match, but then show up like they don't care. France looked as if they hardly cared in their match. Colombia came out like they'd done as much as they wanted and played without any structure and, deservedly, lost for their cavalier attitude. Belgium never scored before the 70th minute in any of their matches and when they fell behind today and had to break down a rather determined Argentinian defense, it didn't happen. Germany hasn't looked that good all tournament, except for the Portugal match, but Portugal self-destructed. Brazil has been unconvincing and now they're down Thiago and Neymar. Argentina have looked poor, but they've gotten it done. The Netherlands have looked good offensively, but shaky overall. Costa Rica have looked good, but there's a weakness to be found there.

Higuain flipped it off the bar, though. If you're counting Messi's chance at the end, well, Courtois stopped him.

What I was saying was that Belgium were called for some fouls some of the time when they hoofed the ball into the box and there was debatable or zero contact for a lot of them.

Argentina deserved to win, but it wasn't that convincing.

I think there was contact in every single one of them, but I'm biased so I dunno :XD
