^ Netero himself implied a number of times that he isn't strong enough. I think he just saw it as the perfect way to die, fighting a strong opponent. It was a pride thing, that's why he didn't call the Zodiacs for help. And he brought the bomb for insurance. Even Colt have told him that he is to be killed by any RG at sight. Get real.:-_-

Togashi himself started all this fuss. Ging was a legend from ch 1. Do you think it was all for nothing? Think about it, Don Freecss explored the whole east of DC and is probably exploring the west right now, and he’s doing it alone; to all who think I’m overestimating Ging, face it, some people are just better than others. The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.:-_-
Nope. Togashi did no such thing. He always portrayed Ging as an accomplished Hunter, with remarkable discoveries, connections and intelligence. Nothing about him being outrageously stronger than every other human being on the planet. In fact, most of the praise he got was just about his hunting ability rather than actual combat prowess. It's his fans that overhype him and place him on some unreasonably high pedestal while completely ignoring all the contradictions within the Manga that would stem from having him being this powerful. And all this hype originated from nothing really. It's all based on weak reasoning such as him being Gon's father or Don's great great great grandson or something like that.

"Nothing"? Well I guess then Netero saying Ging is one of the five best nen-users was nothing too. :sarc

It is not that you do not understand, you don't even want to; and so you never will. Let's just agree to disagree, okay. Till when truth comes and slaps you in the face.

You'll need much more than being "Top 5" to be on the pedestal you're attempting to put him on.

You're right, I don't want to. I don't want this Manga to be filled with plotholes after all.

Also, when Meruem took off Netero's limbs, I'm sure Meruem was attacking much more seriously than he did when he punished his RG. I know Meruem didnt necessarily go easy on his RG when he punished them, but there was still a clear difference in intent when Meruem attacked Netero.
I hope you understand that saying Meryem wasn't trying to kill Pitou is not a strong argument, since Meryem himself recognized Pitou was strong for withstand it.

That said, I wouldn't take in account Meryem taking off his arm, since he has control over his Nen.

I agree that ging is not as strong as people think he is.

As far as i know, Netero said, that ging is one of the top 5 nen users, that is a different thing from being the strongest in a fight.
and it does make sense, ging can obviously copy basic nen abilities at sight when he is hit by them, which is a mastery of nen that we have not seen before on any other character.

We do not know how much of greed island only works due to his nen mastery, but i would think it is a lot.

that said, this does by NO WAY mean that ging can kill meruem in a fight or a royal guard or that he is even a very strong fighter compared to other HxH characters.
I could see other zodiacs being stronger than him (for example botobai) in a fight.

What makes HxH good is that there aint characters as boring as that.

I think ging's worth comes out in exactly the kind of situation he is in now: Leading a team or being an asset to a team. He can read people incredibly well and his powers seem to be productive in some way (like with greed island) so he can combine them with others.

Could ging beat netero in a fight? I REALLY doubt that and find it unprobable.
Could Netero or anyone else we have seen create greed island? i don#t think so

True, but I'd say he underestimated Pitou's strength at that time, if he did wanna try and one-hit any of the RG he could.

If Killua can absolutely paralyze Youpi, then theres no way in hell Netero couldn't have killed Youpi. I know what Killua did was for a very short time, but the case is the same. Netero is being way too underestimated.

A Nen fight isn’t all about kicks and punches, it’s way more complicated; that’s why the win doesn’t get guaranteed by the amount of aura. Thus, being the best at Nen does actually mean you’re the strongest. The fact that Ging created most of GI makes him much stronger than Netero. I’ve never said Ging is the strongest in the manga, I’m sure Don is far stronger, but it’s so frustrating that people tend to underestimate him nowadays; and what plotholes? It’s not like he’ll turn into a super-saiyan, being the strongest doesn’t mean he only uses brute force.

Plus, Killua did make Youpi helpless, but his hits weren’t effective on him; he just paralysed him. The same would’ve been true if Netero faced him; he would have just delayed the inevitable.

True, but I'd say he underestimated Pitou's strength at that time, if he did wanna try and one-hit any of the RG he could.

Hmmm I'll give you that one, however, one could argue that Netero could've avoided a head swipe. The core of his abilities is using his hands.

There are two ways to look at it. Either Meruem was only punishing him with the hit, and then decided to kill him later. Or, he did try to kill him with the hit, but he underestimated Pouf just like Pito earlier (highly unlikely, he can’t be doing the same mistake twice); maybe Pouf was protected by strong ken and so survived; and that Meruem was sure he would kill him with one clean hit as Pouf was the one that requested that Meruem kills him (he assumed that Pouf would probably put his guard down). Either case, that doesn’t change the fact the RGs would have never fought the king. But in Netero’s case, Meruem could have easily decapitate him same way he cut off his leg. BTW, his hands aren’t the core of his ability, Netero himself said so; plus, Meruem already took one, beheading is just as easy.

What? But ging didn't create all of greed island. Each letter of greed island represents the name of a person involved in the project right? That means GI was created by ging AND 10 OTHERS. Ging might have been a key player, maybe even the main player however the whole thing is by no means his accomplishment alone and I doubt creating a nation sized nen game is even conceptually possible.

I bet the card abilities that become real are all nen abilities that Ging has copied over the years.

Meryem hit Pouf because he was humilhated, and because Pouf didn't stop he decided to kill him. Then Komugi prevented it.

But it doesn't proves anything, since Pouf would decrease his Nem so Meryem could behead him. But he did suffered a lot more damage than Pitou from a similar attack.

Ging can only copy strike-type abilities.

^ He said he only needs to be hit once to memorize strike types. It could very well take two hits or any other condition for other abilities to be copied.

Let me put it in other words. Take for example Pitou. He took both Meruem's and Netero's hits. But he seems to be perfectly fine after Netero's, unlike after Meruem's. Pitou wouldn't disrespect Meruem to be in full power mode, while Netero was when Meruem and him fought. Meruem took an arm and a leg in the fight. That means, Pitou in a no-guard mode is physically stronger than Netero in full offence-defence mode. I'm saying, Netero and Pito are no match; Netero's hatsu could only increase the distance between them but won't hurt Pitou. In a fight like that, Pito could throw a couple of stones like bullets while he jumps with full power towards him; one of the stones will kill hiim, or Pitou himself will finish the job - he can't stop all three at the same moment.

Pitou defeating Netero with a couple of stones? What am I reading??

Anyway, I just watched The Last Mission. Is an insult to everything that HxH represents. On is the worst concept ever made, since it takes Nen as a parallel of light force. Bullshit. Bullshit after bullshit, after MORE bullshit.

Lol Netero's 99th hand would deflect the stone's and hit pitou at the same time.

No, being the best at Nen doesn't mean you're the strongest. Again, there's nothing suggesting that Ging's Nen experience is even remotely comparable to Netero, who polished his Guanyin to perfection for half a century. Being top 5 is not good enough. And even with Nen ability and experience that far transcends Meruem, Netero was still outmatched. Painfully so. So the idea that being experienced with Nen means you're the strongest is terribly inaccurate. Especially considering that Meruem pretty much shattered this concept with pure Aura. And Adult Gon had to have an absolutely absurd amount of Aura to make Pitou as terrified as she was. And we don't know how much of GI Ging created, not that knowing so makes him stronger than Netero, or anyone in general. Plotholes like Netero not finding any decent opponents among many other contradictions.

How so? Ging created something, netero could still curbstomp him in a battle.
Battles in HxH are not about the amount of aura, they are also not about whether you can create computer games with your aura, even if it is impressive. Netero's Hatsu is, for fighting purposes, the strongest thing we will probably see done by a human in HxH.
People are not udnerestimating ging, they are overestimating him by far.
there are people who think ging could beat meruem, which is, honestly, absurd.
