As much as I want to believe that artists shouldn't be rushed and that they're not our slaves, a part of me just doesn't agree with the way they handle their work. If we take GRRM as an example, he prolly already planned that his story would span on many volumes, and each volume is like 800 pages long(in average), so when he started to work on it he prolly had an idea of when he would finish it, or at least he had an idea about the amount of time he has to dedicate to it. But after a while you clearly see that he gets less motivated, and that is something a lot of authors don't expect at all. Imo that's the biggest difficulty authors have to face, that and the fact that they're aging, so it might influence how much time they can dedicate to their work. Someone in his twenties will easily be able to have sleepless nights in order to work on his book, whereas as he grows older it becomes more difficult to give that kind of effort.So I think both of these factors play a role in the way they work. And I'm not sure a lot of authors are aware of that fact when they started writing their stories.
Oh and apparently GRRM is motivated again to work on his books, and it's all thanks to Star wars 7

Lol yeah I hate it when they say that. But it would be nice if he was nevertheless motivated to finish the book.

It would be nice if Miura did the same and worked on releasing a whole volume for next year

I don't think he was ever "not motivated". Sure releases slowed down because of the "Meereenese Knot" in the fifth book, but he still has around 2 years before it gets into Book 4 or 5 territory.

I don't even keep track as to whether he's released enough for a volume per year...

I finally got ahold of the movie trilogy and will hopefully watch it this week. Glad I put that off tbh.

If I'm not mistaken we just got 4 chapters this year , it's far from being sufficient to make a whole volume. Volume 37 came out a while ago,even before than the Gigantomakhia oneshot, so yeah there's not enough material to release a volume this year, maybe next one.

So you're going to watch the Golden age movies. I hope you will enjoy it . Tbh I would have preferred if they animated the stuff that comes after that, but at least it has Puck and the Skullknight .

I heard the animation is sketchy in places...but at least it's a bit more true to the story. I think it was set up so we would get more, but who knows when...

I wouldn't say it was more true to the story. I don't wanna spoil it too much, but while it's true that the tv series didn't include Puck and SK, it managed to portray the feelings of the characters better imo. The problem that I have with the movies is that they skipped so much stuff that in the end the eclipse didn't have the same impact as in the manga or the tv series, since there wasn't enough time to develop the other members of the band of the Hawk.In the end I think it would have worked if this was a prelude to another set of movies, this time about the blackswordsman arc as it was teased before the project became official.

I have to admit that the CG was a little off putting at first, but you get used to it somehow and there were instances where it came out good.Other than that, I think it kinda makes sense for them to skip stuff,or else they'd need to make 10 movies, not just three. But all in all it is worth checking, if you're a fan

Hmm I want to start reading berserk but I want to know if it'd be worth it? I'll prolly catch up in no time. I browsed the forum a little and it seems there's irregular schedules for the manga. I can't really stand waiting around for months with no info about the next chapter or so. Does this still happen? And is the manga really good?

He prolly hates to work during the cold season But yeah I noticed that too, he usually releases stuff around April, or even February, and he rarely works during December.

My waiting for Berserk "nerve" is busted so I can't feel the pain anymore. I kind of feel sad for the people who just caught up with the manga recently Especially the ones I hooked up myself. But in reality, a dealer usually gains profit, while I gain curses n' shit like "why the hell did you show me this manga if it's a chapter per solar eclipse?".

Anyway, If Miura-bro releases a chapter in April, I'll be 27 that's scary shit if you think about the long term.

It took me 3 days to read 300 chapters when I got into Berserk. Needless to say I didn't sleep that much as a result . It just gives you an idea about how good it is, it was so good that I couldn't put it down for more than an hour. In comparison I think OP took me more time to catch up, but I didn't feel that same urge to read it as I did with Berserk(I read Berserk first then OP). And the re-reading value is very high, I think I read it completely 3 times, and whenever it resumes I go back and read a couple of chapters to recapitulate what happened. So even if you do catch up, you can still re-read it to really understand the story, and you can always come here to discuss it.I also suggest you read Miura's oneshot, Gigantomakhia, it's pretty good too. And then there's the TV series and the movies if you really do become a hardcore fan

LOL I'll be 26 in April, the thing is I'm most afraid of is dying before the manga is over. And it almost happened once...Anyway let's hope that God Miura will go back to his old schedule, or at least 2 chapters per month, although it seems almost impossible now.
