The animation was anything but great.
It has great direction all around which helped mask the low budget, and is a testament to it's a proper team that makes a good anime, rather than whichever studio has the most money.
Money helps though. :p
As for Jojo, let's think carefully about the circumstances of Jojo... Jojo is not any manga, it is very famous and many fans were waiting a anime from it after so much time. In this case, the series you are animating enters in the equation. Animate a series like Jojo really increases the moral of staff, I would get proud if I were in such staff. The will to make something as good as possible is strong in such cases. This led the staff to make the right decisions regarding the animation, because they didn't have to worry about the story, it is Jojo after all. Even with low budget, it is possible to make a good anime, since we have the will to do it.

You are discussing about this because you like Hinomaru Zumou, but you know that good studio and high budget is important to make a good anime. A studio can choose Hinomaru Zumou because the staff is interested in the series and all and it end up being a good anime. However, for the most part of the market, how the series si going so far really matters. You are talking about a business here and more important than making a good anime is not lose money.

Nope, it is not technically good. There are countless stills, rough animations and a large focus on comic style.
thankfully, something doesn't need to be expensive or technically amazing to look amazing in practice. Countless stills, rough animations and a large focus on comic style actually make it look great and very fitting to the JoJo franchise. It is a great showcase of how skilled the studio is and how much they love JoJo.
The bold part is bad? Actually, it would be awesome if the studio could reproduce the drawing of the auhtor with fidelity.

Series like JoJo and One Piece dont even require good animation to still help the series sell many volumes. They're just so popular. Btw, Hinomaru is good imo, not great or anything like that, but good. The sports genre is my favorite and I've read many, but I dont see anything special in Hinomaru. Now the same thing cant be said later, I pray for its success, it makes Sumo look awesome and interesting. Oh yeah and, Hajime no Ippo > Slam Dunk.....Just had to throw that out there.

Phantom Blood and Battle Tendency have lower production values than Stardust Crusaders. However, that means nothing when the first two parts are entertaining to no end and the third part is mind-numbingly boring.

Oh well, nowadays JoJo's anime is just playing a waiting game till Vento Aureo earns all the fujoshi yen of Japan so that Steel Ball Run can have the goddamn best anime adaptation of all times.

part 3 is boring? oh boi...
It's a pretty common opinion that Part 3 dragged on for far too long despite having some really cool parts throughout.

Stardust Crusaders has it's moments and the Dio's World finale has pretty much set the standards of shounen ending arcs. However, that doesn't change the point that it's Araki first and weak attempt to work with newly introduced concept of stands in a repetitive monster-of-the-week story structure following a not very engaging cast of characters (except for Joseph, duh).

On the bright side, it can only go up from there. And for those who have lived all this time under a rock and are yet to read this manga, boy it does.

Does it really? I read Stardust Crusaders after watching PB/BT and it bored me enough to completely drop the franchise.

A friend of mine said that Stardust Crusaders was the best Jojo's arc, after watching it I really doubted of his sanity. :lmao
Stardust Crusaders falls short... It has its moments, but I enjoy the previous two arcs a lot more.

For One Piece maybe it is irrelavant now, but I'm sure it helped back then when it debuted. Jojo was a late (very late) anime, but the fans still want to see a good anime. The more popular a series is, more fans will have to criticize if the anime is crappy and it is no good for a studio.

JoJo had bad animation? Stills are used to give the animation a different flare...Attack on Titan did this very well. It's not like they choose the comic style because they are so broke they can't keep a constantly moving picture...

I loved part 3 of Jojo. It's one of my favorite parts of Jojo. I felt like Phantom Blood was more like a prologue to the rest of the series. Battle Tendency, though Joseph Joestar is my favorite Jojo, I thought it wasn't anywhere near as good as part 3. Joseph was the best part about part 2, and he was also in part 3, which I personally enjoyed more. Dio was a much more interesting villian then Kars. Stardust Crusaders finished what Phantom Blood started. I thought is was done great.

The first part of Stardust Crusaders is really "slow", but the second part explains its successful.

Part 3 is like Part 1 too run-of-the-mill. Part 2 has the most life and feeling of the series ceasar made me a hardcore fan, and that jojo too. P2 of stardust crusaders is good though old ladyvand the little kid and brother were its best moments. Kakyoin needs way more screentime :(

Technically bad animation =/= Artistically bad animation.
Technically good animation =/= Artistically good animation.

Low production Values =/= Being Broke or having no other options

Nope, in case you didn't read the info already, the reveals for today were the seiyuu for Shun, Ryouko, Yuuki, and Zenji, the character designs for 13 characters, and that the anime will air in the animeism block in TBS/MBS/CBC/BS-TBS
