So I was able to get my hand on last Spring's Jump Next volume. Cost me about twenty with shipping but I really wanted it. Best Blue was pretty dang good. The mangaka showed remark improvement over Rookie Policewoman. I would LOVE to see this serialized, but I don't think it blew away the reader surveys. Try Zone and Haru were equal parts potential and work improvement that is needed.

Very low position for Black Clover... Yet still not really mean anything (seeing that Boku no Hero Academia also not had excellent positions when it was not ranked). But World Trigger really worries me, I honestly expected to see him fighting in the top 5, but it seems he settled in the top of bottom, and I even doubt it is canceled now (anime in progress, game for PSVita being produced, high sales with their products as keychains, buttons, etc.), it is still very sad to see him in such a position.

4 series starting is terrifying... It is making everybody thinking that their series are going very bad. Gintama is in 5th and it is in the middle! :XD
Obviously, even so I'm not happy seeing Nisekoi in such position, I hope it gets better when all unranked series become ranked.

It is not doing so badly though:

Issue 15
One Piece (Cover, Lead Color)
Assassination Classroom - 1st place
Haikyuu - 2nd place
Ultra Battle Satellite (Center Color)
Hinomaru Zumou - 3rd place
Shokugeki no Soma - 4th place
Cyborg Roggy
Boku no Hero Academia (Center Color)
Kagamigami
Gintama -5th place
Isobe Isobee Monogatari (Center Color)
Toriko -6th place
Black Clover
PSI Kusuo Saiki -7th place
Nisekoi -8th place
World Trigger - 9th place
Kochikame -10th place
Bleach -11th place
Takujou no Ageha -12 place
Gakkyuu Hotei -13 place

So 9th place is okay. Also this positon doesn't really mean much due the 4 new series and WT having an anime for the next months. This makes it easier for the editor in chief to position it lower, no matter what amount of votes it got, so that other new series can be put forward to get easier attention from the readers. I think in a couple weeks when the new series have their first real ranks, it gotta be interesting to see where they start of and where WT is standing in terms of ranking.

I am glad to hear that Wt merchandise is selling nicely. Where have you read that/heard that? :D

I think, if we do entertain doomsday discussions, that I would be fine if Gakkyu Hotei ended up being cut if it meant BLack Clover could last. Though I strongly believe in a world in which both flourish and thrive.

And all of Haikyuu!! volumes returned into the daily TOP 500. I was getting worried.

Still, I would like if they increased their positions in the TOP.

Doesn't the Shoseki ranking counts the special editions? Because Haikyuu!! 15 has a special edition, but it isn't appearing in the ranking. T_T

Isn't in Haikyuu!! volume 15 info about the number of volumes in print right now?

Ive found these things to be inconsistent in counting or not counting special editions

I think I managed to pierce the mystery linking the TOC and WSJ poll result.

What I did was compiled the TOC result for the 25 firsts chapters of every new WSJ series since 2011, from "Dois Sol" to "Sporting Salt". Then I sorted them by number of chapter as a way to sort them by successfulness (Series with 25 chapters or more were categorized as "25+").

Here are the data I get formated as a Table:
(I cut some series because some of their key chapter were unranked because they were color page)

At first, I did not see anything abnormal but after some more observation, I saw something strange the that color vomit.

5 new series that lasted between 18 and 20 chapter experienced a significant decline in the TOC at the 7th chapter. But because my color code was was not really accurate, I decided to investigate more deeper by analyzing all the change of rank during the seventh chapter for the all the new series. I calculated the change between the chapter 5 & 6, 6 & 7, and 7 & 8.

Here ar the result:
I do not ask you to understand all the chart, myself I had difficulty in understand it after I created it.

I want to bring your attention to the part that I have circled in red. The red line represents the difference between the chapter 6 and 7, the higher the number, the higher was the decrease was significant between the chapter 6 and 7, meaning that something happen to those series at the 7th chapter. The series included in the red circle are the series between "Shinmai Fukei Kiruko-san" and "Takamagahara" in the table above.

Those series have in common that the lasted between 17 and 24 chapter, meaning they were canceled at their first editors meeting which also mean there is a good chance that their first chapter have been badly received and voted.

I think this is a good evidence that the TOC reflect the WJS poll result and that the lag between the chapter and it's rank is 7 chapters.

I could be wrong, but coincidence it would be a huge coincidence that 13 series on 40, which have all in common that they were quickly canceled also have also all had a drop in the rankings for their 7th chapter.

TL;DR The TOC ranking represents indeed the Weekly Shonen Jump Poll which reader sends every week and the ranking for the new series begins at 7th chapter and not the 8th contrary to what everyone thought.

That the TOC reflects the popularity poll everybody knows, some people just don't accept the fact. Who knows now? :fan
Only 13 of 40 behaves in a way that proves the 7th chapter thing? It's a good number, but I'm not sure... I will take a more careful look at the chart later. :hmm
