So lets say you're opponent is someone invisible

They haven't attacked yet, but they just turned invisible - would that also count?

Tbh, 'feeling attacked' is already less vague than 'being attacked' imo

With the current wording its not clear when the ability would activate

Re: Make your own hatsu!

Question, if your sword is invincible but you get hit hard enough wouldn't the force of the blow simply break your arm or hand instead, assuming the sword doesn't absorb energy somehow.

You are, in a very real way, over thinking it. He is invisible, it is completely irrelevant because he hasn't attacked me. If he goes invisible, and I was witness to it, I would obviously be able to put up defensive nen in preperation. But if I suddenly get punched in the face, I would be able to activate my hatsu. But I'll be honest with you, no one else in my campaign group had any trouble understanding, like I said, you're are just over thinking it.

@Zakatakk: If you are talking to me I don't know where the idea of a sword came in since I never mentioned it.

Re: Make your own hatsu!

I am a transmuter and my ability is called Sanguine Luxuriae. It is the most natural manifestation of Ren. Through this technique I transform Ren into a crimson viscous fluid that can be freely controlled and transmuted from solid to liquid. My Sanguine Luxuriae can be manifested an infinite number of ways offensively and defensively as it takes on any form impermanently. The technique is made highly effective by my own natural proclivity towards massive Ren production and is further fuelled by my own insatiable bloodlust. I can also use manipulation to incorporate the blood shed by my opponents into my technique, giving me an immense psychological edge in battle. This aspect of the technique is most effective upon Nen Mastery. The major drawback of my hatsu is related to the training process and my unique nature. Although my unquenchable bloodlust fuels my immense power it also causes such extreme spikes of ferocity that even a complete mastery Zetsu and In could not disguise my murderous intent.

Depends on what properties you attribute to 'invincible' - it's unclear what exactly you mean hm

First of all, just because no one else in your group thought about it, doesn't mean it's not potentially wrong

Secondly, you keep making this distinction between offensive and defensive nen, while there is none. There's just a difference in how much nen is put in a spot, which in turn can serve to be either defensive or offensive.

Another thing I had trouble understanding was that a condition you have says 'if I've still failed to beat them after the 3 times, I die' - what counts towards a 'chance'?

In general, my one gripe is that you attribute certain properties to nen that it does not actually posses.

Naturally, this is only semantics I suppose, and yes, in a way it's over thinking it. I'm only discussing this with you because the ability itself is cool and you've spent some time thinking up multiple abilities - i.e. worth the time to discuss it over.

Yeah haven't seen it, what does 'invincible' mean in this context? Can it cut everything? Is it unbreakable?

I said I can't use my Hatsu until I'm attacked, so I can fight without being provoked, though I cannot use my power to use any ice hatsu at all. I am not forced into zetsu until I get hit, it's simply that I cannot transmute my aura into ice.

As for the 3 chances to win, that one is vague and honestly I don't think it's necessary to gain the power I desire; so before I start the campaign I am going to either alter it or remove it entirely. If you don't mind, I would like your opinion on that condition in particular.

Fair enough

Hm, I agree with the comment on the 3-chances-to-win condition. To be honest it doesn't really add to anything, it's a vague extra condition - the other conditions in place are strict enough as is.

Whatcha mean by campaign?

Hosting a rpg of HxH using the Star Wars D20 rules as foundation. And I agree though, the 3 to win is a unnecessary condition.

Star Wars D20 rules? Whats that :o
It's Dungeons and Dragons(D&D) RPG, but there are so many different types, I am using the Star Wars rulebook because I like the rules they use and force powers are easy to manipulate to become nen and hatsu with a little bit of fine tuning.

Nen Type 1 : conjuration
Reflection : the user conjures a clay figurine of himself or an ally the user is undetectable for 20 secs after casting. If the enemy punches the figurines it reflects the damage to the specfic area of the clays body instead of you . the clay will break when its done,
Cons: 10 seconds to recast .
Untangible body : The user conjures a shirt which makes him untangible for 5 hours.
Reverse shoes : his movements alters the occipital lobe of the brain creating a reverse perception left is right , right is left, up is down , down is up , far is close, close is far .

Seems like a really cool thread. Hunter x Hunter is my favorite anime so I will be reading all of it later.

So anyway my idea. This is a Conjurer/Manipulation Hatsu.

Elemental Sword

A conjured sword that can take properties based on some elements.

Fire. It turns the users nen into kinetic energy for the sword. The sword gets lighted on fire and Its temperature increases. Because of the kinetic energy, the user can swing the sword faster and with a lot of power. It uses up a lot of nen so it can only be used for a short period of time.

Lightning. User can deliver electric shocks from the sword. Can be done with direct contact or trough metal (If an opponent blocks the sword with any metallic weapon, it can get electrocuted).

Earth. Defensive mode. By manipulating the carbon elements within the sword (lets say is made of steel so it contains carbon) the user can greatly increase the hardness and defensive capacities of the sword. It becomes very difficult to break and it absorbs the momentum of the impact.

Water. Part of the sword becomes liquid metal (think of the bad guy from terminator 2). It can be used to bend the sword and manipulate its shape to some degree.

You can't just instantly change from one type to another. It takes time. How much depends on the user skill and nen control.

So eventually with training you would be able to freely switch modes with this conjured/transmutation sword with emission/enhancement abilities? You don't think that's a little over the top considering there are no conditions bound to it other than charge time?

Yeah seems a bit OP.

Maybe you need to make the sword dissapear and re conjure it if you want to change the element, and this always takes at least a few minutes.

'Always'? How so? For your sword or Conjuration in general?

Is it really that OP? It is a Conjuration/Transmutation ability. Transmutation abilities require good conditions or there are good chances the weapon will get broken. He has versatility but the sword could be easily broken unless when he's using the earth mode.

Wait... Is it even possible? They mentioned how hard it is to learn transmuting aura into electricity for example. How could you be able to transmute your sword with four elemental abilities? Might be better if you add conditions to use each modes but it'll probably lack power.

I didn't necessarily mean that it's broken, but that it combined lots of different styles, which made it seem like a little much. 'Broken'? Well, I guess that compared to existing nen it isn't that strong (at all), but it does take different types of nen.

Kastro-syndrome lol.
