I really hope Jump won't cancel Bleach until Kubo has finished the story like it happened with Shaman King. A transfer to Jump+ could be a solution if Jump wants to stick to its guns. Bleach might have jumped the shark a long time ago but it is not that bad if you read the volumes. And we should not forget that the readership of Jump changes every 5 years. I dare to say I am more disappoint about Nisekoi

What are the positions that Bleach was getting when the anime was canceled.
The position was except one or two mediocre in all fullbring saga.
The final of the anime not doomed the good position of bleach or his sales, it was the continuation and "No more shinigami".

Omg yes please finally. Best YGO gets a manga and itd be perfect to go with viz jump since we are getting the ARC V cards even, I cant wait to see manga SORA.
YGO (exept for the original WSJ manga) is really one of the rare cases were I prefer the anime. I would agree that plotwise Arc-V is way better than GX, 5d and Zexal(imo) since the dimension stuff in the light of the different "summoning techinques" is very appealing and could contain incredible good plot twist, however I do not like the main character so much.
Speaking of YGO, does anyone know how much Kazuki Takahashi is making? If he has entered good licencing contracts it would be possible that he is even wealthier than Oda, given the success of the YGO franchise/merchandise. Anyone have a clue?

ITT: people who think Shueisha hates money

smh you guys really think a multi-million-dollar empire like Bleach would get cancelled because JUMP readers rank it low? The volumes sell shittons, it has lent itself to games and other media that sold shittons. Ichigo still had one of the four central roles in J-Stars, a game that was released during Bleach's reign at the bottom of the magazine.

Cancelling a manga is what they do when they think a new series may bring in more money than the existing one. No new series is going to bring in more money than Bleach, even if it did, it would take years. There are many series that are less profitable than Bleach and would be cancelled before.

Bleach is going to be kept going for as long as it makes money, just like everything else in JUMP.

Because it's a story manga and Kubo will eventually end it, it'll probably still be selling a few hundred thousands when it ends, but that's a natural ending. It will never be cancelled.

edit:

seriously I don't even like bleach & i'm embarrassed for Kubo

Japanese people would rather read Lady justice & Devilyman over reading bleach

just end it already
lol fucking hell, real embarrassed for a guy that made millions of dollars by doing what he loves, and making one of the most well-known manga in history. What a shame and embarrassment Kubo is, huh?

you guys put way too much value in the TOC rankings. Bleach is a huge empire and it has made its mark on manga history. I'm not going to deny that the story is colossally stupid right now, but saying Bleach is better off cancelled is just wrong. It makes millions. Why would they cancel it?

why wouldn't they cancel it? they keep introducing new manga with better stories

in the last 3 years they introduced assclass/hq/sns & all of them surpassed it in quality & sales (& they didn't need 68 volume & 360 anime episode & 4 movies) & i'm sure bnha will surpass bleach in sales by volume 10 if not sooner

so who could say that the manga that would take bleach place in the magazine wouldn't surpass it too?

& i don't think i'm over-valuing bleach place the toc, i understand that the editor decide the order of the manga in the magazine, but i also understand that their places is an indicator of what the readers think of these series

so i'll say it again japanese people don't care about bleach anymore

Japanese people pay millions of dollars for Bleach-related products every year.

n the last 3 years they introduced assclass/hq/sns

Exactly.
In three years, they only came up with THREE series that can compare to Bleach's success. THREE. Out of all the new series that came out in those three years, only three series would actually be worth cancelling Bleach for.

The majority of the magazine right now sells less than Bleach. Hinomaru Zumou, for instance, is a successful series that will never sell as much as Bleach sells today. Never. Why not just cancel it now?

Because the low sales needed to justify cancellation are way way way way way way way way way way way lower than what Bleach sells. WAY lower. Even something like HZ can justify its continuation in the magazine. Why the hell would you cancel something like Bleach, which is nearly an order of magnitude more profitable?

edit: also, Bleach in its prime was orders of magnitude more successful (and arguably higher quality) than all of the series you mentioned, but I admit that doesn't matter at this point, since it got a lot worse. Still, even as bad as Bleach is now, it is one of the most profitable series in JUMP.

regarding this nonsense:
(& they didn't need 68 volume & 360 anime episode & 4 movies)
Bleach didn't need that either. When Bleach was three-years-old like the series you mentioned, it was already the third best selling series in JUMP. It kept this status (third or second, VS Naruto mostly) for seven years. None of these new series compare to the success Bleach had, they're only barely comparing to the success Bleach has RIGHT NOW.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Regardless of all of that, my main point is that Bleach is extremely profitable, and thus it would never be cancelled.

- people who bought those bleach volumes are bleach fans, i'm talking about the general & casual manga readers who are not bleach fans, bleach isn't important to them (i hope that make sense) what i'm trying to say bleach isn't making new fans it's just losing old ones

- 3 successful series in 3 years is a great number imo, maybe they couldn't introduce more because a certain series is taking space :P

- bleach have always been bad & stupid imo, i dropped it many years ago after reading the first 12 chapters (i dropped it after the talking parrot chapter), that was enough for me to realize i'm not gonna like it

this manga is a shingami battle manga which are basically spirits right? so what happens to them when they lose the battle & die?
do they become deader? do they go to super soul society for extra dead people? lol was this ever explained in the manga?

& oh my god what with cheesy writing?! "memories of rain" "confession of twilight" "suppression of darkness"
is Kubo Nicholas Sparks' lost twin brother?

- i'm not talking about bleach prime, i didn't say the should've cancel it in 2008, i'm talking about now.
but thanks for the infos anyway, i really didn't know bleach was this popular
i'm really surprised after 3 years it was the third biggest seller after op & naruto for & stayed like that for 7 years, that is a huge achievement
that's means it sold more the stuff like yugioh, hxh, death note, prince of tennis that's very impressive

The same of the other series who had lower series.

For that reason it finish nuramago, medaka, kuroko and soon gintama.
Also, Did you think that yoakemono, cupid, iron Knight, takamahara, kurogane, kiruko san,Cross manage ,Koisuru Edison ,Mutou Black , Smoky b.b,Kurokuroku, himedoll has become a successful series , and don't tell me the "if bleach was cancelled maybe will apeared better series" sorry but that stupid...

- bleach have always been bad & stupid imo, i dropped it many years ago after reading the first 12 chapters (i dropped it after the talking parrot chapter), that was enough for me to realize i'm not gonna like it
Stop liking the series who I didn't like!!!

do they become deader? do they go to super soul society for extra dead people? lol was this ever explained in the manga?
So what happens to them when Vegeta died in the final of buu saga?Do they become deader? Is a battle manga not an book about nihilism.

& oh my god what with cheesy writing?! "memories of rain" "confession of twilight" "suppression of darkness"
is Kubo Nicholas Sparks' lost twin brother?
All the author has writing problem, Urobuchi is worst than kubo with his "buahhhhh I'M FUCKING EDGY AND I DIDN'T KNOW HOW TO WORK HUMAN PERSONALITY'" but it offset with good thing

- i'm not talking about bleach prime, i didn't say the should've cancel it in 2008, i'm talking about now.
And Toriko should've cancel now, Popular =/= opinion....
Also in 2008 should finish(not cancel) but jump was a dick and don't want to finish his money maker...

that's means it sold more the stuff like yugioh, hxh, death note, prince of tennis that's very impressive
I hope that you don't think all thing except HxH are better , also YGO is that it is for the anime.

I don't say anything with bad mod but talking about bleach cancel is stupid if it didn't let kubo finish with aizen

Sometimes people let their opinions decide what's fact to them. Okay you didn't and still don't like Bleach, and a lot of people share that opinion with you. But the fact is while Bleach is still profitable to Jump, and is already in it's last arc anyway, Jump will not cancel it. They could probably tell Kubo to hurry it up if they wanted to, but they would not just cancel one of their once highly successful series, that still makes them money. Opinions of quality and ranking aside, it just won't happen that way.

The readership of Jump changes every 5 years on average. Kubo just wasn't able to catch new readers and therfore the newer generations of Jump don't want to jump in or catch up with Bleach from the beginning (no anime, no movies). If you are looking at the sales, those decreased by over 50%. since 2009. Whether the current plot is good or bad, if only a few people are following Bleach through Jump, the prospect of getting votes is declining. That is simple math.

Toriko might have a similiar problem soon too.

Bleach sells are what keep it alive...but it's also not unreasonable to imagine it being pushed out soon. Bleach merch can still be made and sold (Dragonball is a perfect example). Jump has a long history of getting rid of series that don't have room to grow (Kochi Kame being the only notable exception). Bleach isn't going to get more popular so it being canceled/ended is feasible. Plus, multi-million dollar empire? It makes good money as a franchise for sure but let's not go overboard with the terminology here.

And with all the new successes, and there have been quite a few compared to most of the last ten years, Bleach is taking up space. I'd vote it out but I'm not an editor so...

It generates more than $2,000,000 a year => it is a multi-million dollar empire. The cuts of those millions of dollars go to multiple people and companies, sure, but the Bleach brand is objectively and unarguably a multi-million dollar empire.

If you were an editor and tried to vote it out, you would get fired, because you would be proving your absolute lack of understanding of Shueisha's ultimate goal as a company: to make money.

The amount Bleach sells now is perfectly enough to keep it going forever. It won't keep going forever because it's close to its ending, but just like Kochikame can go on forever because it sells just enough, so could Bleach.

It is absolutely not feasible, in any universe, in any world, that Shueisha would cancel a series that is making millions of dollars every year. ABSOLUTELY. NOT. FEASIBLE.

This is not an exaggeration, it's simply a statement of fact.

Again, you guys seem to be delusional about Bleach's status due to its ranking in the magazine. It makes millions of dollars. It is never going to get cancelled.

It'll end in a year or two after this arc's natural conclusion, but there is no way Shueisha would ever agree to cancel it. The next Lady Justice is not worth cancelling Bleach over, there's enough series to cancel.

I think it has also been mentioned in his author comment from this year or last year that he has two editors. One being for the media & franchise and the other for the actual manga. So, yeah, it's still big enough for WSJ to put two editors on it. Heck, a new mobile game involving all the popular VAs is out or coming out, a new fanbook etc. Things are still being sold with BLEACH"s name on it and people are buying it.
The game sold 200k in pre-orders as of last week.

And if I'm not mistaken, either 2013 or 2014, Bleach made approx 1.12 billion yen. Guys, who are we kidding? That's not a small amount at all. That was from a list that listed ONLY manga. Bleach was not present in the overall franchise because there were about 20 franchises above it. But for manga alone, that is quite big.

So can we stop with the "Bleach is not profitable" or that "It can easily be replaced" nonsense? Unfortunately, even with it's current reduced numbers of 550-600k a volume, other series struggle to hit those numbers.

Is bleach ranking badly? Yup.
Does that really matter to WSJ when it's minting money? Uhm, no.

Unless the editors are playing mind games and purposely placing Bleach there.

I don't doubt that not many of JUMP's readers would say that Bleach's latest chapter is in their top three chapters of the issue. They would never say that, in almost any issue, so of course it ranks extremely low.

I'm just saying that fact has nothing to do with Bleach's profitability, and the fact that it will never ever be cancelled.

Bleach has too many casual fans that love Bleach stuff even though they hate the current story, and so they never vote for it.
