Or Black Clover. And I still think it's nothing special or well-thought but it sells and ranks highly enough to stay for the years to come.

What I'd like to see in Jump would be a battle manga with a female lead, a competent female lead. Sure shounen usually have males as main lead, but why not have a female main MC? It's why I hoped for that Tiger and Dragon brothers manga to get a serialization. Its female lead is a male turned female, but I take what I can get. Plus it was pretty funny.^^

in the 90 was Son Goku,Hanamichi Sakuragi (slam dunk) ,Tsubasa (captain tsubasa) then Luffy, then Naruto, etc...

I think Medaka box was the only one with successful in Jump as a female lead ?

However, a lots of novel these days have female lead and they are pretty successful ( Hunger Game, Divergent, 5th Wave) , so there might be a possibility that Japanese "male" readers will enjoy strong female lead .

People would want a Katniss-esque lead character for a jump manga? I think it would be nice if we had such a situation and then the series having actual romance of having to choose between one of two boys. Twilight-esque even. It would be appeal for traditional romance fans, and also appealing to action fans, and also if the guys are constantly at each others necks and such, appealing to a vital market for financial success. It would be a win win win type of situation.

Maybe Maze-runner esque as well, though would readers be open to a one female 20+ male type of situation (and the femMC is really really really annoying).

I didnt know 5th Wave was femMC, but I havent seen it yet (seeing it opening day). Divergent esque would be a good idea for a manga fem lead as well, she was so different.

Although it is not a Shiehisha Manga (but it was still a magazine which targeted the same demographic), there is also Soul Eater where the lead character was a female.
Would it work or not would, I think, depend on the female's personality. If majority of her traits are like the ones that male leads in Shounen Manga usually have, it would work. If she is too feminine, it would probably be harder to make it work.

But it would be hard to know it for sure. I don't remember many people recently trying it out.

In Weekly Jump I'm not sure, but Claymore was serialized in Jump SQ and was a successful shounen series with a female MC. It's an exception but at least it shows it's not impossible.

I love how here Death Note is continuously on the best selling manga of the year lists. I imagine Shingeki/OPM would be too.

I hope Naruto continues to chart for many many many years to come.

I don't get viz. Gintama and Reborn both sold something at least and got dropped, but Toriko has never appeared in a year end list where the cut off was in the hundreds and is still getting releases after 30+ volumes
