So the 3 GoI are nothing but fodder? Their feats got off-paneled, not my fault. Their hype makes them > Laxus.

Simple as that.

We've barely seen any noteworthy feats from Wahl, so how can you say he's > Serena? :cookiestare

Since the GoI are the strongest mages on the continent and their battle was off-paneled, they get scaled to the strongest person in the verse bar Zeref, Acno and of course Serena. So that would be Natsu/Laxus.

That means Serena casually stomped 3 Laxus tiered characters + Jura. Let that sink in.
Lol we know for a fact that Warrod isn't stronger than Laxus, he even stated himself that in terms of pure power that he isn't that strong.........

Knowing Warrod's personality, that was most likely just modesty. He should be on par with the other GoI, he got crushed just as badly as the others.

Their hype doesn't put them over Laxus and it went out to the window when all of them casually lost to one Spirrgan, if it was August I would of gave them the benefit of the doubt but it was Serena. Unlike August, Serena was never hyped to be a standout threat among the Spriggan's meaning he's above average, at best. Wizard's Saints lost their hype when Laxus beat Jura he closed a seven year gap in 3 months. While Warrod himself he wasn't strong, at first I thought it was modesty but looking at his magic I'm starting to agree.

It's no-one's fault if Mashima wants to make them fodder. They could all be powerhouses magically, but when it comes to fighting they don't have what it takes to stand in front of someone with as much offensive power as God Serena. Their hype is above Natsu, Laxus and Erza... but those 3 have performed better in this arc.

There is only DC feats that God Serena has shown. Endurance is unknown because GS life was taken but it should be high like Wahl's should be. Speed unknown because he didn't have to move - the GoI didn't push him even that much. AoE is in Wahl's favour (400km cannon, blast in last ch on par with anything from Serena). CQC I'd give to Serena because he's a DS, but Wahl exchanged blows with current Laxus so he has better feats. Strength feats in Wahl's favour (sent someone as strong as Laxus flying with a punch), though again GS has none. Durability is likely with Wahl, got hit harder than Serena and is yet to be damaged. Battle intelligence is with Wahl by a long shot. All these feats are on-panel too, and we've still got Assault Wahl to come.

Mashima might have played with the scales a little don't you think. Surely you'd have to agree that the difference between God Serena and Hyberion is quite substantial. Scaling to Laxus/Natsu is not fair when they're performing at Spriggan level, while the GoI are performing way below that. At best scale them to Erza, who actually beat a Spriggan with help (might not be fair either because Hyberion lost to Serena with help).

Either God Serena is a long way better than Wahl or Ajeel; or Laxus is a long way better than Jura/GoI. Going with the latter because that's what the feats say...

Yes their hype does put them over Laxus, because they were hyped to be the strongest mages on the continent. Laxus ain't that and you can't throw away that type of huge hype.

Serena didn't need to be hyped. All that mattered is that the GoI were hyped.

What kind of logic is this? Their feats were off-paneled so that makes them fodder? Lucy can beat them then?

That's not how it works. If characters get off-paneled and have huge hype like that, then they get scaled to the strongest character in the series (bar Acno and Zeref) at the time the hype was given. Which means the GoI can get scaled to Jellal.

Jellal is city level right now. God Serena stomped the GoI, who are scale-able to Jellal. That means Serena stomped 3 city level characters. Or in other words 3 Jellals. Laxus couldn't handle even 2 Jellals.

How is that scaling unfair? The fact that they were hyped to be the strongest mages on the continent automatically gives them a free pass to be scaled to whoever was the strongest at the time. So Jellal/Mard/CSK/Gildarts, who are all city level.

That statement was thrown out because of their title which is irrelevant, Jura was called the strongest human wizard and he lost to Laxus. They all lost to one Spriggan, Laxus himself should be able to take one Spirggan on his own so to think 3 spriggan level opponents can't take on one is absurd. Not to mention that would make Serena's power standout from other which is wasn't hyped to be at all. GoI being the strongest mages only by title means little wen everyone has revived a huge power up.

This could go back and forth, so I will let you have the last word on this.

What kind of logic is this? Their feats were off-paneled so that makes them fodder? Lucy can beat them then?
No, but their off-panel feats are by God Serena's opinion a joke. I never called them fodder, just that if Mashima wants to do it he can. It is clear that Mashima has given the GoI/Jura a level of combat efficiency that is a league(s) below a Spriggan.

Jellal is city level right now. God Serena stomped the GoI, who are scale-able to Jellal. That means Serena stomped 3 city level characters. Or in other words 3 Jellals. Laxus couldn't handle even 2 Jellals.

Well then it's obvious that the scaling methods are flawed. You can say that the GoI are more powerful Tartarus Jellal, that is fine. But you can't scale attributes to him. That would be an assumption that is atypical of standings in the manga. For example Jellal is above Hades, Makarov, and Gildarts for speed - yet those 3 wizards are likely stronger than Jellal (certainly for Hades and Gildarts). I'd let you scale endurance/durability because these attributes have relative proportionality in the manga - but not anything else. As for all the town or city or planet level stuff I don't buy it, open to waaay too much error.

Then there lies another assumption that is unreasonable in your scaling... that is you're assuming that Laxus is the level below God Serena for which you can scale Hyberion and friends to. This is flawed on 2 reasons...
1) Laxus has shown he can dance with Spriggans in 1 v 1. The hype is that Spriggans are comparable apart from August. So Laxus is Spriggan level until proven otherwise.
2) The chasm between a Spriggan tier and a Hyberion tier is significant in terms of combat prowess - as we've seen.

So considering points 1 and 2 you're effectively inflating 4 people out of nowhere while the manga says otherwise. I reserve the right to change this stance if Mashima gives the GoI/Jura more feats.

The hype =/= performance for the GoI, not by a long shot. Unless all the hype was attributed to God Serena, who at least has shown he is a beast.

Uhh....... I don't know if you know this but Laux beat the so called "strongest human mage" before the timeskip and his power-up, he most certainly is one the strongest mages on the continent. The twin dragons where hyped up during GMG, Erza even said that Natsu and Gajeel were "most certainly at a disadvantage" when the twin dragons activated their dragon force and people were commenting on Stings power during the match and then Natsu proceeded to solo the two. Hype in Fairy Tail usually leads to disappointment and just bullshit, the fact is that the Gods of Ishgar were fodderdized by Serena, we saw some of their magic and it was nothing special at all.
If Laxus power spiked even half as much as Natsu did over the time-skip than he's probably stronger than the gods of ishgar.

Yeah and Jura =/= the GoI, so what's your point? Jura is PTS Laxus tiered at the very least.

Yes, the strongest mages on the continent lost to Serena, which mean Laxus can't touch Serena. Again, it doesn't matter if Serena wasn't hyped because the GoI altogether were hyped.

No, but their off-panel feats are by God Serena's opinion a joke. I never called them fodder, just that if Mashima wants to do it he can. It is clear that Mashima has given the GoI/Jura a level of combat efficiency that is a league(s) below a Spriggan.
So basically just because a character wrecked them and it thinks they're a joke, means they are?

Well then it's obvious that the scaling methods are flawed. You can say that the GoI are more powerful Tartarus Jellal, that is fine. But you can't scale attributes to him. That's what scaling is. If characters have hype and/or said to be equal or stronger strong as a certain character, then they simply get scaled. You're just arguing against scaling now.

Then there lies another assumption that is unreasonable in your scaling... that is you're assuming that Laxus is the level below God Serena for which you can scale Hyberion and friends to. This is flawed on 2 reasons...
He is below Serena. I just explained that.

Serena CASUALLY CRUSHED 3 Jellal tiers + Jura. Laxus can't even take 2 Jellals currently. CASUALLY CRUSHED.

I never said Laxus wasn't Spriggan tier, but he's not on Serena's level.

So considering points 1 and 2 you're effectively inflating 4 people out of nowhere while the manga says otherwise. I reserve the right to change this stance if Mashima gives the GoI/Jura more feats.
Not in the slightest. You're arguing against scaling and don't want the GoI to get scaled even thought they were hyped to be the strongest mages on the continent. Hence, they get scaled to whichever character was the strongest when that hype was given. So x791.

GoI can be scaled to Jellal/CSK/Mard/Gildarts who are again, all city level.

The hype =/= performance for the GoI, not by a long shot. Unless all the hype was attributed to God Serena, who at least has shown he is a beast.
We didn't even get to see their performance, so what are you on about? People just randomly assume that they got beat = weak. Maybe, you know, Serena's strong? The manga portrayed this when he trashed the GoI and the fact that he's a DS with 8 elements.

Uhh....... I don't know if you know this but Laux beat the so called "strongest human mage" before the timeskip and his power-up, he most certainly is one the strongest mages on the continent. Yes, Laxus beat Jura, the strongest human mage. Did you forget that there are 4 other wizards ahead of Jura who are hyped to be the strongest on the continent?

Sting and Rogue's hype was so obviously not legitimate. I don't know how anyone was gullible enough to believe that they easily killed their dragons in a straight up 1v1.

Missed the point, Jura was hyped up to be the strongest mage alive when he wasn't just hype from holding the title. Saying that the GoI are the strongest isn't sold enough to put them above Laxus especially when that was said pre skip and they lost to one Spirggan. You yourself said Laxus is Spriggan tier so you think Serena can CASUALLY fodderize 3 Ajeel's? Please, the only Spirggan stated to be on another level was August while the hype of the Spriggan only applies pre skip at best before everyone got their boost in power. GoI hype means shit when they can't take ONE Spriggan who's slight above his peers at best.

Not too much into the debate, but I think everyone is underplaying the GOI. all because the author decided to focus only on FT members.

While making strategies, i would assume that Mavis made it in consultation with Makarov along with her own intelligence. She is said to be master strategist, so when i am basing on manga facts, i think I will have to take her ranking on fighters as correct.

Look at this page where Mavis states that The GOI is their strongest force which is needed to eliminate the greatest threat from East. She also knows Warrod personally, so she must have known that he is strong enough to be included in the Strongest force of the continent.

It is not something new that Shonen authors often introduce many characters, hype some of them to epic length and later can't deal with them. Mashima thinks that whole Alvarez empire must be defeated by Fairy Tail members, so he is gonna write according to that. This is not right, there should be some aged and experienced strong fighters. but no, all we have are FT members and their friends who are all part of younger generation (except 4 or 5). as if a generation of Mages forgot to train and thus no one became strong enough. It is the major problem for most of shonen manga, as if younger generation is the best of them all. It is applicable for Naruo and Bleach completely, One Piece is better in this regard.

Now on topic, GOI was said to be strongest by Mavis and the claim was supported by other mages; Jura wasn't originally part of GOI, so I am going to consider that. When God Serena defeats them off panel, it means that God Serena is lot stronger than the GOI. The only reason he was downplayed by Spriggans because he was newly added member.

Mavis has made multiple mistakes before in regards to power levels, though she is reliable her word isn't 100%. Not to mention she has no idea how powerful the current wizards are now. No to mention you mention Warrod saying he must be strong enough to join the strongest force, but Jura is also there and everyone knows that he's weaker than Laxus. This is just more hype in regards to their titles.

While even if it is a Shonen cliche it still doesn't change the point, the GOI at stupidly over hyped if people think each of them are >Current Laxus individually.

Mavis is just like Makarov completely ignorant to the guild member's growth, like Makarov thought the Faires stood no chance against Ajeel until they activated their powers.

Jura is a make-shift inclusion that they did because God Serena deserted suddenly. So he is not actual member of GOI. and I did mention Makarov, since he knows mages from Ishgar and Spriggans; of course Mavis made her strategies in consultation with him.

While even if it is a Shonen cliche it still doesn't change the point, the GOI at stupidly over hyped if people think each of them are >Current Laxus individually.
I mentioned the shonen cliche because it is relevant in my opinion. just because the author needs to show younger generation as savior, the hyped older characters are ignored and author doesn't care to draw much panel for them where we will be able to see their power level. It in turns makes it seem like they are weak and previous hype was wrongly placed. the GOI are victim of this reason.

and since i am mentioning it all the time, i do not count Jura as a member of GOI since he only joined the other three after God Serena deserted. So when i say GOI are being underestimated, that doesn't include Jura.

Mavis is just like Makarov completely ignorant to the guild member's growth, like Makarov thought the Faires stood no chance against Ajeel until they activated their powers.
in Shonen manga, everything will not be covered by drawings only. If not proven otherwise, we will have to take few things from dialogues. just because they are the main characters, they are getting all of the panels. but tell me where it is shown that Luxus is stronger than any of the Spriggans? or anyone of the FT members are stronger than Spriggans?

Listen quietly. God Serena>>>natsu u know why ? Coz fire doesn't have any effect against god Serena and against natsu. So natsu can't use his maigc coz it's useless . But Serena can use water DS magic ! So he can defeat natsu.

In my opinion, luxus has a monster level, higher than spriggan's. Look, he's gonna defeat wahl with his sickness n with the fact that thunder is useless against wahl. That's why i put laxus at the same level than Serena. The only fact which could separate them is if serena uses thunder. If he does i think he would be stronger.

And last thing. God Serena talks too much. If he was More serious he would have a better fight against acnologia

I think in the case of the Gods of Ishgar, they aren't chose solely by physical capability in battle, but more towards magical capacity. For example, from the feats we have from Warrod, his best feat is pretty much growing giant trees in the blink of an eye. Which also is impressive, is ineffective in battle. Now when I say this, I'm not saying that the Gods of Ishgar are incapable of fighting at all, but I think that they individually can even come close to a Spriggan.

Whereas, through the most recent chapter we have seen Laxus himself blowing Wahl back with his own power. We even saw that before the Tartarus time-skip, Laxus bet the so called 'strongest human', Jura the current 4th saint. And we've seen that people over the time-skip have grown immensely powerful (Natsu being able to stand up to Zeref for a little while). So that would mean Laxus would have to be at least comparable to a Spriggan, which we have seen, isn't something we can say for the Gods of Ishgar.

Yes, you don't need to repeat what you said. I fully comprehended it.

And one thing you got wrong is that Jura was hyped to be strongest human in fiore, not the strongest overall mage on the continent, because that goes to the GoI. Did you somehow miss that?

Spriggan tier =/= On Serena's level. If Laxus is Ajeel level, does that mean he's Serena level now? No. It's like you're implying that ALL Spriggans are on the exact same level, which is painfully obvious that it ain't true.

Just sounds like a Laxus fan in denial here.

God Serena is cool but honestly he isn't that powerful as people claim. Defeating the GOI isn't that impressive when by all means feat wise the GOI are pretty much fodder in battle. From the feats we got from them nothing suggest they are power houses. This is how I view the GOI from their feats:

Azuma>Warrod
Mary(Avatar)>Hyperbion
Elfman>Wolfhiem

With that being said even if you include Jura his feats are drastically inferior to that of Bluenotes and Gildarts. Jura and the GOI get placed so high on list due to their hype rather then their feats. People are focusing way too much on their title rather then what they have shown. I personally would rank God Serena at Bluenote's level at max. While God Serena has different types of magic doesn't mean he is more powerful then a character he only practices 1 magic. Look at Natsu vs Sting and Rogue. Natsu in base was able to overpower Dragon Force Sting and Rogue. Looking at each individual feats from God Serena I would say:

Aquarius>>>Water dragon magic
Jackal>>>Hell flames
Bluenote>>Earth Dragon Carven
Wendy>>>Wind Dragon Magic(Although this one was off paneled.

Going off simply what was shown this is what I would say. Anything else would simply be speculation. Simply from what was on panel though I would say Serena is at max Bluenote's level. Also what makes me say the GOI is overrated is that during the GMG a worn down Fairy Tail members where able to tank Atlas flames roar, even some fodder. So unless you are trying to say Serena>Atlas Flames, the GOI durability isn't that impressive. Before people even try to bring up Jura, the strongest thing he tanked was Laxus's secret art and a few lightning bolts from Laxus. None of those attacks where on the scale of Jupiter.

The thing about this fandom is that people will hype Jura up in order to hype Laxus up because he beat him but feat wise Minerva and Kagura have better feats then Jura. But people rank him above them because he was hyped to be the Strongest human wizard. SO instead of looking at what he had shown against other characters people simply look at his hype because it is way better then his feats. People are doing the same thing with God Serena and the GOI.

Well God Serena was supposed to be the strongest mage in Isgar, even without anybody knowing his true powers (At least the GOI didnt know). I think that this whole GOI thing was badly executed by Hiro. The GOI were hyped back in the GMG, of course people would think that they are capable of more than we saw in the last chapters.

Jura is a make-shift inclusion that they did because God Serena deserted suddenly. So he is not actual member of GOI. and I did mention Makarov, since he knows mages from Ishgar and Spriggans; of course Mavis made her strategies in consultation with him.
Not the point, Jura was given the false hype of being the strongest mage outside of the GOI which was certainly not the case. While like I said her calling them their strongest forces is again most likely based on their titles.

And in this case Laxus and co are the younger generation, either way going by cliches or nor the Top Tier in the guild are most likley above the GOI at this point in time. It probably wasn't the case pre skip where they wer originally hyped but currently they should be stronger.

and since i am mentioning it all the time, i do not count Jura as a member of GOI since he only joined the other three after God Serena deserted. So when i say GOI are being underestimated, that doesn't include Jura.
I know

in Shonen manga, everything will not be covered by drawings only. If not proven otherwise, we will have to take few things from dialogues. just because they are the main characters, they are getting all of the panels. but tell me where it is shown that Luxus is stronger than any of the Spriggans? or anyone of the FT members are stronger than Spriggans?
The fact that Wahl said currently Laxus could beat him despite being highly resistant to lightning and with his organs in a mess should make it obvious Laxus is Spirggan level. Laxus in a horrible mis match can still fight on par with a Spriggan, while his encounter with Ajeel should reinforce that as well.

Pretty sure the old lady outright says Jura is the strongest wizard bar the GOI period http://www.mangapanda.com/fairy-tail/320/16. Jura was hyped to be the strongest bar them and he wasn't.

Serena is Spriggan tier, the only Spirggan Makarov himself says is on an ANOTHER LEVEL is August. All the Spirggan aren't equal, but none of them bar August is on a different level compared to each other, no WAY Serena is casually trashing Ajeel.

God Serena would beat Ajeel due to water/wind elements.

But in terms of capabilities they are comparable. God Serena has better DC, while the scale of Ajeel's attacks are above. Sandworld is the most impressive spell seen from either, though God Serena could have had secret arts.

I put God Serena's dragon slayer spells as slightly less than Natsu's roar on Bluenote.
