Seinen Tokyo Ghoul by Ishida Sui

Didn't the AOT live action make it a love triangle between Mikasa, Levi, and Eren, or did I mess that up? Do they usually change the plot that much? Like, what if we get the live action movie and it boils it down to a love triangle between Shuu, Kaneki, and Touka where TOUKA is the middle of the triangle or something
I am curious to see who they cast as Kaneki. Ishida said that it is someone he wanted and thought was made for the role even before he knew a live action would ever happen. I think its supposed to be announced soon.

Well dang, maybe it is Kaneki. But I still have the same question, Kaneki wears his eyepatch over his Ghoul eye, why is he wearing over his human eye in that cover? Hmmm, maybe since Kaneki is a possible the candidate for the OEK, he is truly siding with ghouls (covering his human eye). Maybe that's what Ishida is going for. Maybe I'm just thinking too deep.

I think sometimes Kaneki wears the eyepatch on the other eye for symbolic reasons. It is emphasizing his ghoul side just like his mask does. In fact, I kind of think that eyepatch looks like a modified version of his mask eyepatch. However, people have analyzed the eyepatch in the magazine cover very closely and think it looks like Kaneki's centipede one, Rize's kagune, Mutsuki's leather one, etc. Lol. Like, we are all seeing a different eyepatch.
I do think if this turns out to be Kaneki it will be symbolic of him moving away from his position in the human world and back toward the ghoul side. Like, not entirely ghoul, of course, but it isn't possible for him to live with the CCG anymore borderline passing as a normal human and investigator.

I am doing a slow re-read of Tokyo Ghoul in its entirety and man, that first chapter is legendary. It basically foreshadows what I think is going to be the entire plot of Tokyo Ghoul (in obvious ways, but also the part where Kaneki says he wishes he was born for Revolution and Love). Then, here-Ishida, too soon. Somehow too soon and will always be too soon.

Live action film casts Masataka Kubota, Light Yagami from Death Note live-action drama and Fumika Shimuzu.

This is the best news I got sooo far! I still can't believe it. He is an excellent choice. He was great portraying - a different, yet still good- Kira.

The movie will out next summer. Can't wait to watch it!

While reading your comment, something just picked my attention and I am 100% sure that it is a foreshadowing:

There's obviously a cross (Catholic one) in front of Kaneki Ken. This image can be found in many Jesus Christ images. "The Light Bringer", "The One Who Shows You the Path Through the Light"

Tokyo Ghoul is a series full of drama. Ishida presented us a great amount of very well written characters and we love most of them. Unfortunately, 98% of the time our favorite characters suffer a lot and can't live peacefully.

This has to change. Tokyo Ghoul characters need some accomplishments... I'm speaking of pure accomplishments, not the watered-down versions from Ishida where accomplishments come with many losses, tears and mental breakdowns.

The waifu wars is our chance to make this happen. I nominated Touka Kirishima, because she is very beautiful, a kindhearted person and proved to have matured, especially in :re. No panty shots required to make us look forward to see her again, no monstrous boobs needed to label her as hot, she is simply the best woman you could think by your side, because this girl has character!
If you agree with me, then please take your time to support Touka in the WAIFU WARS!

This is an arc where she can win without worrying about whether

• someone will leave her or not
• a close friend will die or not
• an CCG Investigator will tear her to shreds or not

Let's make her the waifu queen of mangahelpers, while Kaneki steadily becomes the King in the manga.

I don't know if it was ever brought up but I'll ask. So I was re-reading Tokyo Ghoul and in chapter 36 kaneki cut his finger with a sheet of paper. How is this possible since even knife can't hurt ghoul's body? Or did I miss something?

If you look closely, there was no sheet of paper; Tsukiyama cut Kaneki's fingertip with his nail while taking the book from his hand, pretending he didn't do that on purpose.

Actually, I remember that was one of the many particulars that they incomprehensibly decided to change in the anime, since in that same scene Kaneki apparently cuts his finger with a broken teacup while Tsukiyama is distracted, which is inconsistent with what we know about ghoul physiology. Yet there's also a scene in chapter 3 of the manga where Kaneki injures his hand by punching and breaking a mirror, about three panels before he tried to stab his abdomen with the knife you mention. So the inconsistency you brought up is still present although from a different episode, one which I suppose we could ascribe to the manga being in its early stages at the time.

Oh, that explains a lot. This panel also caught my attention, but i guess it's not that inconsistent. I mean, kaneki was really weak and hungry at the time and he heals immediately after the punch. Also I do think normal human would break his hand ( if you look at his face he is surprised by not taking any serious damage). However, compared to the thing with the knife it is kind of inconsistency( I guess not that much).

I assure you that you'll find that most of the participants in the TG part of the forum agree wholeheartedly. In fact, you've sort of cushioned it...
Studio Pierrot butchered the plot and character development of the anime... A true injustice to this narrative. It feels to me as if they were trying too hard to turn it into an age appropriate Shonen,which Tokyo Ghoul is not. It's a Seinen aimed at older readers. An all round disappointment, though the first season, while softcore, wasn't too bad.

The first season was passable, but oh man that second season was just terrible. I still really, really hope we get a great remake/reboot at some point. Sometimes I read the "odds" on whether that will happen or not, and there are differing opinions. I guess we just have to wait.

Yep. I buy them electronically through Amazon Kindle or Barnes and Noble. I have been reading the latest chapters too because everyone keeps saying a lot of crazy stuff has been going down like Arima killing himself. However, I struggle to grasp what exactly is going on because I haven't read Tokyo Ghoul:re from the beginning. Anyway, I'll catch up sooner or later!

The final will be fierce... I don't know if Touka and we - her supporters - will survive this battle. The CCT is already taking drastic actions now:

There is no hope for us, since Arima will hunt us down. If you want to thwart CCT's plan, then please vote for Touka-chan before Arima annihilates you. Sacrificing our lives is the least we can do to put a smile on Touka-chan's face.
