I'm sorry I think I did not make myself clear... Let me rephrase it... Despite the name and what the author says about the "nationality"... I mean the physiognomy of the protagonist of famous battle fantasy shounen: Luffy, Goku, Gon, Ichigo, Seiya (he is NOT greek, he is japanese), Tsuna... (the jojo and toriko exceptions are well pointed). They are clearly japanese.

But Naruto and Asta are clearly NOT (light hair and blue/green eyes). They are clearly a "foreigner". a "gaijin".

In Naruto this is particularly evident because of the antithesis of a foreigner (hated by all and disrespectful at the beginning) against the "loved by all, tradicional family spoiled kid" that is Sasuke (clearly a japanese).

Black Clover follows the same idea (despite coming from poverty) Yuno looks much more "japanese" than Asta (that is also clearly a foreigner).

Anyways, I think now I made my point.

If we're going by your logic and that names and canon doesn't matter and only physiognomy does, then Gintoki (silver hair) Ichigo (ginger) are not Japanese

Also is it just me or Naruto and Black Clover are the "only" jump "hits" where the protagonist is not a "japanese" but a foreigner?

Saint Seiya guys are Japanese. The whole initial point originally was that they were Japanese knights.

For Japanese volume there is a dust jacket cover and the inside cover. Usually, they are different. For English volume, you will only get the outside as your cover and that's it.

He is not wrong, though. Watched a documentary regarding this and it is an actual thing that in japan, people who LOOKS japanese are seen more japanese, than people who lived their entire lives there. For example, in the documentary a couple, the man was from the USA( & caucasian) & the wife was chinese, both had two kids (the son looked more like the father & the daughter more like the mother) wanted to go to one of japan's popular hot bath house, but back then for some sort of treason only 'japanese' people were allowed to visit the bath houses(don't know the actual circumstances anymore, something happaned back then). Mother & daughter, though chinese, did look more japanese & were allowed to go in the hot bath house, but not the father & son(in the end, the whole family left & were insulted & saddened by this).
Naruto has a very japanese name, but compared to a Sasuke, he does look less japanese, therefore could be regarded as 'less japanese', though I don't know if Kishimoto did this on purpose.

Well, that is not entirely true. In Yami's backstory, when he arrived the Clover Kingdom people actually rejected him. That's why Yami has so much respect for the Wizard King, because he gave Yami a chance to prove himself( the Wizard King also got flack for this).

Errr.... you do know that Ichigo actually explained at the beginning of Bleach that he was bullied by the students & his teachers, because he was a ginger? It was mentioned several times early on, and was a reason for him, to be a good student, because he wanted to prove them wrong.

Kimetsu is predicted to sell somewhere around 25k. That's a bit better than Zumo, Dance and Samon which sell around 20~22k in 3 days. Still kinda disappointing

It's 1st volume, sales for them are more stretchy so you should count the score not just for 3 days but until it actually disappears from the charts. Still surprised that it got 120k copies printed, in long run it should sell itself but it's not every day something that isn't as obvious of a hit gets that big 1st print.

At this rate, Promised Neverland will cross the fifty thousands line by the end of the month, so Shueisha probably guessed well with the first printing.

Bleach was 90M with volume 73

Toriko was 20M with volume 30
