The thing is that if we make predictions now, it'll be without knowing the characters and it'll be hard to guess the score from that.

If we don't make the discussion now though, we'll get more information on the match and it'll be "unfair" on that.
Yeah, that's the dilemma we're facing. I'll be very surprised if the next Japanese pair isn't Fuji/Niou, but can't know for sure until next month.

Maybe we should make predictions now based on assumptions and if only a bit of the match is shown next time, we can leave the round open throughout January? That's the best compromise I can think of.

Yeah Australian win. What's the underdog rule again :P
We unfortunately need four more people to vote for Japan right now for that to come into play, which might be difficult.

So, since Shiraishi didn't actually play in the match I guess that round of predictions is cancelled. Any objections?
This is how we handled the switch in the Greece match, so I guess it's consistent to do the same thing here.

In exchange, let's have predictions for the tiebreaker score though. Getting this right will yield 1 point as usual. I'd say guess the winner, but there are probably no doubts there at this point.

Let me know if you have any objections to proceeding this way.

We didn't know the pair that was going to play back then though, it being Atobe or Niou doesn't change a thing.

Well, we took the risk... I mean, our predicted pair was wrong (so our scores were too) and we made the mistake to be too certain of Niou/Fuji being the D1 pair. Imo, we should just accept we were wrong, this prediction should still count.

Also, if you haven't already done so, remember that you can predict who advances to the KO stage. Predictions for that close once Japan vs Australia is finished, i.e. potentially after this next match.
