So, since Shiraishi didn't actually play in the match I guess that round of predictions is cancelled. Any objections?

No, that seems fair to me.

D2: Hakamada/Fuji
D1: Kimijima/Marui
S3: Sanada

... The worst is that I'm more certain about my chosen 2 points teams than the 1 point ones.

0.5 point teams: Germany, Switzerland, France, Spain, USA, Argentina, England, Belgium
1 point teams: Czech Republic, Italy, Serbia, Denmark
2 points teams: China, Aramenoma, Brasil

Prolly the lamest picks ever:

0.5 : All of them.

1: Russia, Serbia, Denmark, Czech Republic, Canada.

2: Tube, Brazil.

I expect Aramenoma to play the US in the group phase -and that will be all they'll do in the manga- so yeah they won't make it imo.

Next up, the line-up predictions we made for the matches against Greek. Nobody predicted either Shiraishi or Tanegashima for S3, so that luckily doesn't need to be covered in this round, but in case something similar happens again in the future, I will award points to everyone who predicted either player for a given position, regardless of whether they were scheduled to play or actually played. I hope this won't open another can of worms, if it does we might need to revisit the ruling in the future.

And finally, the updated overall rankings.

Overall
1. Hardy (13.5)
1. Ken (13.5)
3. Kaoz (13)
4. LetalHawk (12)
5. Asclepius (9.5)
6. FrostyMouse (9)
6. Philia (9)
8. Ganonslayer101 (8.5)
9. Animariano (3)
9. Divine evil (3)
11. Anera (2.5)
10. Tato (1)

I hope I added everything correctly, let me know if you spot a mistake anywhere.

We also have two new predictions this month:
  1. Japan vs Australia
  2. Yukimura/Sanada vs Hopman/Fitzgerald
The deadline for both of these predictions is when spoilers for chapter 198 become available.

Furthermore, I'd like to set the deadline for the main tournament participant predictions to when the match between Japan and Australia is over, i.e. once we have spoilers confirming the winner, all predictions are locked.

You think Australia might end up being a powerhouse? Would be interesting -even more after we learnt about Noah and how strong the crowd effect is- although I don't see it likely.

I mostly think it'd be interesting if Japan had to play against Switzerland with the qualification on the line rather than to determine whether they end up first or second in the group, and it would nicely mirror the situation from 2 years ago against France. Also, if Dorgias or someone else beat Oni, I think it would make for a better hype tool for America or Germany later on than saying "Amadeus lost to Byoudouin, now he's losing harder to Volk" or whatever.

So rather than saying that I have faith in Australia (which I don't, I think realistically Japan is going to win 3-1), I think it would make the rest of the story more interesting if it happened. And if I don't predict it and it does end up happening I'll be kicking myself forever.

The thing is that if we make predictions now, it'll be without knowing the characters and it'll be hard to guess the score from that.

If we don't make the discussion now though, we'll get more information on the match and it'll be "unfair" on that.
