It was on a break last week but someone leaked this week issue so we don't get anything this week (if that's make any sense)
anyway, TMS is my hope and bet for a KnY anime
a lot of people are blaming them for how DGM sequel turned out to be a convoluted mess but that's not their fault since the source material is a convoluted mess a well
Put me in the camp that also likes Izuku Midoriya as well. While his character is a concept is taken from context by the "How To Make Your Main Character Likable" book Horikoshi has actually done well in making him incredibly appealing nonetheless by giving him all sorts of mannerisms and quirks that make him standout which one can say its the very fact that he's so plain that makes standout. He's a complete dork and isn't ashamed to hide it which makes him a metric ton more unique than the idiot hero protagonist that plague Jump for years in fact the amount MCs in Jump who aren't just overly macho super chads are quite rare in itself but of course going into the opposite direction doesn't always lead to positive results (Yoh, Tsuna, Rikuo). My top favorite Jump MCs are characters who are normal and win points mainly due to their reliability and grounded nature (Josuke, Gntoki and Taikoubou).
It has been a few years since Ive watched YYH, but isn't he just like every other MC? Screws around most of the time, is dumb as shit but becomes a badass when necessary - so essentially Luffy, Goku, Naruto, Josuke, Natsu and most popular MCS I can think of. I can understand there are differences between them, and obviously characters like Josuke and Luffy are pretty different, but they essentially act in the same way, so I struggle to see why some can love say Goku and hate Luffy?
I seem to prefer MCs that are already OP at the start of the series but haven't got that way from a sudden power up (Rikuo). they seem to have a more interesting view of the world or a juicy past to explore. Plus their fights are usually more than just battles of will and involve strategy and stuff. Eg. Kenshin, Hinomaru, Yuma (he's kinda a dual MC),

If I remember correctly, he intimidate people who are afraid of him. He is also a delinquent.
Goku and Luffy are similar yet difference. In my opinion
People like Goku more because unlike Luffy, Goku was introduced as Kid Goku (not kid, 12-13 years old). It is okay for him to act childish or make dumb decision. Remember he lives in a forest with no interact with human
If you compare Kid Goku to Kid Luffy (introduced 500+ chapters later), Kid Goku is more interesting individual.
Plus nostalgia.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but didn't Shuiesha forced Togashi to write the last arc of Yu Yu Hakusho? Prior to that point, Yusuke is not the usual "I have special gene" or my "daddy is in a big league" MC.
Naruto has the Fox power, then down the line he is the 4th Hokage's son, Goku has Saiyan blood, Luffy is special, JoJo MCs are from the line of JoJo's family.

I wouldn't really compare Yusuke to those characters. Looking back maybe I was too focused on Yusuke's development and how he was handled as a character more than his personality.
Takeshi is an interesting MC so far and I see potential out of him. He's a 7 year old though but inspires to be a leader.
The 3rd chapter is out but does anyone here follow the manga or are just waiting for chapters to pile up so they can read it? Honestly, it's pretty fun so far with only 3 chapters.
We got introduced to Gonzou and a mini-backstory
Really sad that the chances of this popular manga getting animated is null. I've seen the Japanese praise this series

Yusuke -> Punk with good heart
Sakuragi -> Punk that is funny and extroverted.
Luffy -> Hyperactive and Happy go lucky Boy.
Son Goku -> Country Bumpkin
They are not that alike, and Sakuragi is the closest to Yusuke given they make part of the same subculture.
People that say Luffy is a Goku, must really skin the characters personalities to the bone. We havê a kid with a big open mouth smiling face that do what he wants. And a calm kid that is ignorante of many things.

This is everything I'm saying and more lol. Can't put it any better. Luffy is just corny to me which made me sour on OP sometime after the Skypeia arc and before Franky and the skeleton dude joined the SH Gang. When you see actually MC glo up over time (Naruto is a great example) it's perfectly ok for them to act they way they have cause you seen what made them come to be.... to who they are in the main part of the series. I think Goku and Naruto are the most universally liked, they don't do anything to trigger anyone except being the typical dumb, always hungry type which after seeing that type so much over the years I like.
One thing I do give Luffy credit for as a MC is he has no designated rival. I mean he gets into it with his crew mates but it's no one that's like Naruto-Sasuke, Goku-Vegeta, Ichigo-Uryu (sorta), Natsu-Gray in OP. That part to me differentiates him from alot of common shonen male character troupes which I respect cause we like different things in every story. Lowkey though, I credit Oda for developing him without a clear cut rival, breaking the mold so to say, moreso than I praise Luffy.

Hyperactivity is psychological deposition, that is seen since childhood. Is not something you go up over time!
Happy go Lucky is the same thing, normally is hard to see a person go up in being carefree as he age.
You didn't really see what made Naruto being what he come to be. You just known from the beginning that he was picked by the people and he needed a way to stand out.
Luffy is the most universally liked! And Goku comes next. Naruto only food related stuff is liking to eat the Ramen(A thing that comes from Slam Dunk Sakuragi).
Goku is not the typical dumb, Goku is the country bumpking that doesn't know stuff. There is a difference between that and Naruto, that was a deliquent and didn't study, nor had an attention span for that.
Only Goku is always hungry(and is not always by the way). And next come Luffy with that characteristic.
Nope, Goku wasn't already overpowered. He started Dragon Ball with 14 years, and he started at around the level of Yamcha. A little stronger. Than he went to Roshi to train, where he got a little stronger than Krillin. And After 1 year(the time the Dragon Balls Respawn), with 15 years, he went into the search for the Dragon Balls phase 2 adventure. Where he needed the help of others, and had 2 big rivals, General Blue and To Pai Pai. Where he needed to go to the "heavens" and train with the Cat. Only after that he was able to defeat the Red Ribbon.
Luffy starts is adventure with 17 years and he already is in Arlong Level!
I don't know why people say Luffy is dumb, other than anime original material, he never really shown any really stupidity, most of his scenes have more to do with his hyperactivity and Care Free personality. Basically not be able to stay focused for much time into things that don't really interest him, and not caring to go into depth into certain things nor guarantee that things are "correct".
Those things place him in various "Baka"/stupid situations, but not dumb.

Yeah... But you forget to mention that he started his adventure already stupidly trained (A LOT of years more than Goku for that matter). He was thrown in a jungle (this was not shown in the manga yet, but still mentioned) trained with Ace, Garp, etc etc...
In Dragon Ball it's mentioned that even a baby saiyajin can conquer an entire planet by himself... So this is a based comparison lol.
Still... There's no way we can compare an MC that can literally blew planets with another one that (so far) was only able to throw his enemies far.
About Luffy's stupidity there's a whole thread on reddit for that:
