Being put in the front of the magazine didn't do much for other series either, these things don't matter. It could have the same placement next week for all we know or it could be top 8

I was gonna say RIP Demon's Plan too but I'm seeing it's unranked. Hope this can at least land in the 200s. Japanese readers really not feeling Souma, it's so low.. and Clover is so high #life
The writer for Souma is probably the most insecure writer Ive seen. Who tries to justify their own writing on Twitter?

More importantly... shokugekis have been the most predictable/stale writing. I can't believe the manga went downhill this early. I still care about the series since it's one of my personal favs but I can't deny the writter isn't that great. I wonder how well off this series would've been if the writter had to do the art as well.

It also seems it's just a shipping fest for the past year.

The decline is well deserved. Its also beyond me how the abysmal anime is getting these OVA's too.

Man I love Gintama atm, with the arc that's currently being animated being my favourite. I agree about the Shogun and Shinsengumi arcs being too serious with almost no comedy, but these last two arcs have done a great job of combining the action with comedy. It is sad that we'll never get to see the pure comedy of the past, but we did get like 500 chapters of that so I can't really complain.

Well, DP seems to be dying.

And before someone says it is unranked, let's remember some things:
- none of the series in ToC are hard-ranked. The editors make the order based on the ranks and several other factors
- as soon as the editors get some feedback on how well received a series is, that will affect their judgment for the above. 8 weeks is when they will get full results at latest, but even before that they should get some partial feedback
- the editors will try to promote a new series, so it has slightly higher chances to be higher up. If a new series is in the bottom, then it means that the Editors have lost much of their hope for it. Even if DP is truly ranked next week, the incomplete results may have already shown that it is not doing well
- the whole "8 weeks" thing is based on ancient leaks/rumors as I recall. Do we have any more recent leaks on if this is still a thing. That is, are we sure that WSJ didn't manage to accelerate their vote-counting process?

All in all, the rank in the 7th week already matters, even if by some chance it isn't based on a large enough sample of votes.

Holy cow , BC is #1 ? and the chapter was seriously one of the worst chapters of all times ( if it was 86 ) :/ , I guess Dumbsta isn't the only "dumb" person after all .

Neverland was in the bottom 5 before its 8th week, it was the issue were kochikame ended iirc
Amalgam was in the top 5 before its 8th week, it was the issue demon's plan started iirc

ranking before 8th week doesn't mean anything

It's amazing how many people are uninformed about this subject on here. Pre-rankings. Don't. Matter.

not everyone care about the toc like people in this thread do

I was one of the people that said neverland will flop because of its 7th week placement and after it did well the next week I figured out it's meaningless

we live and learn I guess

that's being said, I really don't know how will DP preform next week, it could go either ways imo, its success or failure won't surprise me

Trying to look intelligent saying to people who follow the toc years missinformed, don't make you intelligent.
The TOC is first a glosary of the jump's issue and second a popularity contest, having a series in the top 5 is more like adversing than "this series is safe". In the other hand a series is doing in a danger zone isn't because isn't popular , is because th editor isn't seeing to much feedback.
And before the "this series is in the bottom and got better" the TOC isn't a efficience science, people can become a fan with a chapter and a series who was in the bottom can become a hit, Gintama is the perfect case.
Before trying to hyperbole the different opinion and saying "Huehuehue you're saying the pre-8 chapter rank? How ignorant" , read the post or learnt reading compresion.

DP will get axed. My only doubt is within 24 chapters or less. We already have a BS cliche doing well in the magazine. It does not need another one.

Can you stop spreading misinformation? Next week is the real rank.

For some reason I had the impression the new threads were made automatically when they got to some amount of posts, not sure why I thought that.
New thread for 2017 is here.
