And that´s what I think is yet another failure in today´s anime landscape. Some potential good mangas that are crap receive the most faithful adaptation with good animation, music and anything, but in no way you see the directors improving on that source material to make it better. Look no further than light novel adaptations these days. The faithful adaptation not always is the best one. I think you are one of those people who believes that the best adaptation is the faithful one.

Which makes me think: If JoJo and HXH have faithful adaptations in anime form, then which is the purpose of reading its source material, especially when some adaptations are based on the whole story? For example, which value does have the Diamond is Unbreakable manga if the anime adapts everything faithfully? It doesn´t have any other value than being replace for ithe anime. Or you read the manga when you don´t want to see the animation and so on. The value of an adaptation should be the value that makes it stand on its own, not the value of being faihfully translated in another media. Take for example Scoot Pilgrim, the movie and the comic are both different, but the comic never loses its value for the loose but good adaptation on film. There are some shonen jump mangas that could benefit from this, and not from the JoJo treatment, sorry. I don´t devalue the faithful adaptations, but I value when you can make changes for the better rather than translating the source material to another media.
I'm not totally against anime manipulating the source material to an extent, they just shouldn't try to add to it, ie. come up with their own stories... The Saiki anime for example, I think was great! It wasn't all that faithful to the source in the sense that it cut out a lot and put events in different orders, but it's what worked better in that medium. But It was still faithful in it's telling of the source story. JC didn't try to add their own content to it and they gets a thumbs up from me for not doing so. Pierrot on the other hand, added so much of their own 'flair' to Twin Star Exorcists, it hardly even seems like it's an adaption of the source; hell more than 2/3 of the show didn't even happen in the source. At what point is it still an adaptation?

Saiki made a successful transition to another form of media while remaining faithful. Twin Star also made a successful transition, but remained unfaithful.
While being faithful isn't necessarily what's best for the series, it does mean you will at least get a decent anime that you will enjoy if you enjoyed the manga, unlike if a ton of things are changed and possibly for the worse. That is why I prefer faithful. Although the purpose of an anime is to attract a new audience for the source, hasn't that purpose sort of gone down the drain in Twin Star's case? New fans will pick up the manga to realise it's entirely different and they may not even like it. Or they may dislike the anime so much, they won't consider the manga under the assumption it will be the same?

The only examples I can think of off the top of my head where the manga still holds purpose after an anime are when it's adapted badly. In my opinion anyway, I do prefer video medium over page though, so I can see how people could think vice-versa. But in the end what is the point in changing so much when it's usually not for the better? Pierrot is notorious for making significant changes in their adaptations, and they have balls for that. But they have received a considerable amount of flack for almost every series they have done in recent memory for it. Which also brings up another point, Is an adaptation that appeals to a new audience, but not the fans of the source a success, or failure? Most manga fans hate the Tokyo Ghoul anime for example, but it certainly had a large audience.

It sounds like a slightly reworked Ranma 1/2 plot

Toei could have made it into a smaller Toriko all Studio Clown can do is use it as filler for a few months till Twin Star Exorcists comes back.
I think BC's max will sell per volume is like mid 300k's. It'll be less than World Trigger IMO.

Who knows. Pierrot could do crossovers with Boruto/BC.

Nice, so he is taking bits from his Dragon brothers One-shot while staying true to Beelzebub characters. Sounds like this is going to be fun to read.

Wish he would have stuck with his original TDB one shot rather than rework it so much.
Not that this doesn't still sound funny as hell, but I just want Tamura to be successful. Is a Japanese 12 year old even going to be aware of who Marie Antoinette is? Even if we're going by how popular Sofia Coppola is in Japan, her biopic was 11 years ago so we cant even use that to hope for a youth connection.

Expecting another Illegal Rare. Quality series from a vet, pushed by Jump, but just unable to hold a fanbase for whatever reason.

Yeah...this is probably not going to last long unless Jump sees some worthwhile potential in it to push it especially with such an "out there" premise that go over the head of most readers and with Poro Jump will have four gag manga series running with Gintama ending this year. Wasn't the biggest fan of Beelzebub or Tamura's art and humor in general so I'm not sure if I'll like this,

It sounds funny, but if it's a gag then something has to give with all these gag manga in the magazine. Dr Stone next week

that was my first thoughts too

we know the reason Marie is in the title but why "hungry" ? maybe the mc switches gender based on whether he's hungry or full?

anyway, as I mentioned before Ranma is one favorite manga so I can't wait to read this

Does anyone have the numbers for Jump's total magazine sales for 2005 and on? I'm just curious if there is a financial urgency or incentives to bring back this many veterans at once.

Crossovers don't increase a series. At least there is a lack of an example where that happened.

Black Clover is doing pre-anime better than World Trigger. You don't believe it will do more after the anime starts?
