People talking too much sh** on Pierrot and their non-canon storylines, and people fearing elDlive was gonna have some of them.

Surprisingly they did a faithful adaptation. Does that mean something good? In this case, no. Amano´s writing seems as bare-bones as in Reborn!, which once again proves that, not all faithful, 1:1 adaptations are good. So yeah, this series needed some non-canon stories to be a little bit better than the product we got.

It doesn´t have much fans. On reddit and 4chan for example, the episode comments are less than 10. And most people say that is a bad children´s show. By episode 12, the comments will basically be none.

A bad series adapted as faithfully as possible won't be good because it isn't good in the source material, so it's stupidity to think that the adaptation will make a miracle. Inserting some fillers here and there on the anime won't make the anime better, the idea behind the powers is awful and the characters are bland as fuck.

tl;dr: elDLIVE can't be good in any possible way.

Non-canon storylines is not the same as fillers. And if these non-canon additions were good, the anime could work. How many mediocre source materials has Hollywood turned into awesome movies and TV shows?

But oh yeah, we have the mind of an Alzheimer pacient, so we forget Pierrot has some good stories. elDlive, like Reborn, had the potential for a better series than what we got. Not even that oh-so-whished 1:1 adaptation couldn´t make it better.

Sunday never beat Jump. It was Magazine that beat Jump temporarily in 1997 when Jump's Print circulaion was around 4.05 Million and Magazine subsequently peaked at 4.36 Million and that was due to the fact that the series had become rather more seinen like. A lot of the series in the time period between 1995 and 1997 that were running were written with content that appealed to adults more than kids. Adults that read Shonen Jump want the stuff that appeals to kids, not them. Otherwise they'd read seinen manga. Kids also weren't as into it and so the print circulation dropped but that was true for the industry as a whole. Its just that soon after Dragon Ball ended, lots of people stopped buy Jump and so they experienced a significant drop. It should be noted that the print numbers were also possibly inflated. One Piece put Jump back on Top again.
.
Thanks for the correction. I honestly can't recall many hugely popular Magazine titles that came out in the 90's outside Hajime no Ippo and Kindanchi Case Files that could have usurped Jump so it might have just been an overall drop in circulation for Jump as a whole after Dragonball ended.

The problem with Eldlive is that the serious arcs don't blend well with the very kids show-esque visuals and characters and the episodic stuff feels like something trying to be a kids show without understand what makes them work. Adding filler of either kind wouldn't have made a difference.

What it needed was a early morning or midday timeslot (and a slight reduction of the gore) so that kids could actually watch it, 10pm on a Sunday really doesn't work for the type of series it is. I doubt it would've been big anyway but it would've at least had some sort of niche fanbase.

The difference between filler and non-canon storyline is that the non-canon is supposed to be good? I seriously don't know. I honestly don't think that any non-canon additions would make elDLIVE better, because the characters are bland, the world building isn't quite good and the superpower is ridiculous. Reborn had the potential do be good, but I don't think elDLIVE have the same potential.

About Pierrot, they were the ones that adapted GTO and YYH, and personally I think that they were both good adaptations. elDLIVE too is being a good adaptation, but they can't do nothing since the source material is bad.

Gore reduction I believe is only done by Toei and a few other studios. Naruto didn't really reduce the gore much more than was in the manga, although the manga itself wasn't really gory. Heroaca showed Deku's broken arms in there full gore and One Piece also doesn't cut down too much on blood. Toriko was one of the few shows in recent memory that really removed a lot of the blood, not showing it until the food immersion arc. Kids don't really mind gore as long as its not horror, intestine showing levels of gore and even that may be shown as long as its toned down a bit. Its usually the parents that complain.

The anime staff is also integral to the execution of an adaptation and often times a good staff can really boost mediocre or even bad source material.
GTO and YYH had two of Pierrot's best directors directing them.

Gores reduction is more an issue of time slot than studio.

This is the common misconception. Non-canon stories are stories not seen on the source material, but added to the adaptation. And this has always been so.

Filler is, basically padding out an action in an episode of a TV series or in a movie for longer amounts of time than it should have. Like, imagine if the scene of The Avengers where the group is talking with the recently captured Loki was extended for like 15 minutes. It doesn´t contribute nothing to the plot.

Another common misconception in the otaku landscape is that loose adaptations are all bad ones. Speaking about it, and being honest, which Jump manga you people think would benefit from some non-canon stories in adaptation?

The gore in Heroaca's 1st season is merely scratching the surface. So I really wonder how they'll handle it in the next season.

I think any series could improve by adding filler, but anime creators don't seem to be good a making filler for the most part

Yes that's what I am talking about. All the anime I listed air/aired in the morning or evening when kids will be awake. Even HxH 2011 had a considerable amount of gore and it aired in the morning. Kids don't mind gore.

The gore in Heroaca's 1st season is merely scratching the surface. So I really wonder how they'll handle it in the next season.
I'm on the side that they might actually completely show Endeavor's domestic abuse scenes. In the manga, its merely implied that Endeavor hit his wife with the sound effects and dialogue while showing todoroki's shocked face but they might drag it out slightly to give todoroki's backstory and subsequent breakthough of the fire side that much more impact.

I thought it was a combination of both, the studio & timeslot. So Toriko & HxH aired in the morning but HxH had far less censorship because Madhouse doesn't censor as much.

Do the TV networks they air on play a role too? Lol.

I think Kenshin is mostly average, but the Trust & Betrayal OVA's are fucking art.
I never could get into Bologna Kenshin but those OVAs make a incredible standalone film. That's how it was released in the United States.

I understand your point, I, too, agree that Yu Yu Hakusho isn't a masterpiece, but I just can't agree with this part. I honestly think that Yu Yu Hakusho at its worst is better than Saint Seiya at its finest.
Seriously? You certainly are kidding. You really believe that Yu Yu Hakusho ending fiasco is better than Saint Seiya best?

HxH had better romance than Kenshin and it was only just one arc. Meruem & Komugi's romance was better IMO.
And people here complain about Ohba platonic and perfect romances, but Meruem & Komugi is so much better than Kenshin.

One shows the relationship and how it grows. The other is just raw concept and platonic love.

Well, yeah. The whole arc in the Makai is at least in the same level as the Hades - Sanctuary saga.

Filler is a word created to talk about isolated episodes. So no, it isn't about padding.

Still, Filler is about original content which only intention is fill time and space. Meaning that any other kind of original content with other intention isn't in fact filler.

Evading much? How did Worse of YYH better than Best SS turned out to Makai vs Hades?

I love Saint Seiya, I hate that it never got popular in English speaking countries. While I will admit, it didn't age as well as most series, it's still stylish in it's own unique way. Whether it's the double page spreads for signature attacks, the attention to detail that was put on the armor and background objects or the fact that everyone had one of their eyes on their forehead.
