I'm glad that Mashima didn't kill Jellal and he said before he want to give him a happy ending this time. I don't like Erza this arc tho she deserves some happiness with Jellal.

Why some are hating Lucy and thinks she doesn't deserve Natsu? :S
If anything she deserve him more than any female character in this series.

I have a hard time seeing Erza with anyone else unless she's alone. She bosses everyone around. Once, jellal was introduced, I thought, well that's her man. They're both intelligent, strong and good looking people. I can understand natsu to a certain extent but their relationship is like siblings love.

That's really it for me: (do ship the other big 4 members to different degrees depending on storyline)

As you should know by now, I am a Lucy fan so I ship who I think would make HER happy.

Natsu makes Lucy happy. And he accepts her for what she is - weak or strong, laughing or crying, smart or stupid, kind or bratty. Not trying to change her into a badass or calm her down or make her a more proper lady.

He even says "Because Lucy is Lucy." Natsu knows she's weird and a lot of trouble but he chooses to be around her anyway..... maybe he likes trouble.

I also believe Lucy makes Natsu happy.

And it took some time but she finally accepts him (after realizing Prince Charming isn't real and he doesn't clean his own house) for being a badass goofball.

And when you find that someone who you fit with... the real you and not that fake person you try to be for acceptance. It's not a compatibility matter of comparing how you would fit with 12 other fish in the sea (Gray, Erza, Lisanna, Loke, Cana, Brandish, Wendy, Laxus, Zeref, Yukino)... or who you could potentially have better chemistry with.... but a matter of why would you even want to look for something else cuz you found all that you need in the person in front of you. The person who you want to spend every hour of every day with.

The place where you belong.

Of course, I would love the relationship to be more romantic....
I'm a faithful believer of the phrase "I married my best friend."

But when you aren't looking at the bond as romantic but what makes them.... Well Natsu and Lucy... it transcends description. Which is why it inspires absolute adoration in some and mutual loathing in others.

Are they friends?
Are they lovers?

We care.

But they don't. They just enjoy being together.

And that's what I want them to be. Going on adventures together forever. Two halves of one whole.

Yeah, you touched on a lot of points. One more thing: I think Lucy has grown to like Natsu because Natsu represents Fairy Tail for her. Natsu embodies all the values of Fairy Tail that Lucy was looking for when she first set out to join the guild. Since Fairy Tail come to mean home to her, and Natsu is what Lucy thinks of when she thinks Fairy Tail, Lucy has come to associate Natsu with home as well. This picture sums it up pretty well for me.

It's funny you should bring up chemistry between the characters. In my opinion, Natsu and Lucy have one of the best chemistry when you look at their interactions, because we actually have genuine moments between them. When has Lucy ever thought to herself that another guy looked kind of cool, or stared at them sleeping to remark how cute they looked? Or when has another guy ever said something that genuinely inspired Lucy when she was scared, or was there for her when she was feeling depressed?

I'm really curious about who Jellal's fiancee is. She must be gorgeous, to make Jellal reject someone like Erza. Though I really ship Jerza. They are so cute together. And let's be real, they will end up together with cute little kids. Jellal's fiancee will probably turn out to be a powerful villain, who will kidnap Jellal (damsel in distress) and Erza will beat her and save Jellyboy. :3

You know, there is huge potential for comedy between Jellal and Erza. Just imagine this convo:

Erza: "Jellal-chan... what is it? You know you can tell me everything..."

Erza: "Jellal-chan... to think you have the balls to confess really flatters me... I... I always felt the same about you. You know it, too don't you? But back then... at the beach... you remember? You rejected me because of your fiancee..."

I still say Natsu and Lucy are like Naruto and Sakura, but reverse. Great chemistry, but where Sakura was in love with Sasuke, Natsu seems to be asexual/not have a crush on anyone. But, Natsu and Lucy are actually not toxic at all, apart from the sexual harassment. More like Naruto and Hinata before the War Arc, I guess?

Sakura is just a bad person to be compared to, character or relationship wise so unless you're looking at how Naruto and Sakura are bros the relationship part of it doesn't match Natsu and Lucy at all. With FT ending as soon as this year, all development with Natsu and Lucy will come in the epilogue chapters. I think one scenario might be that Hiro might leave their love life ambiguous but open, which would trigger alot of people but honestly their bond gives off those vibes that they might become canon in the future, not at the end of series whereas Gray-Juvia, Gajeel-Levy will

They're not bros, but Naruto has feelings for Sakura just as Lucy seems to have feelings for Natsu, but the other side isn't reciprocating. And I did imply that Naruto and Sakura could be toxic, whereas Natsu and LUcy were not toxic at all, much like Naruto and HInata. Though, maybe Hinata and Naruto make better comparison, as Hinata was actually quiet about her love for Naruto, unlike Naruto.

Just doesn't seem like they'll be canon at all, unless Mashima wants to do it out of nowhere or something. Again, as pointed out many times in this thread, the ball is in Natsu's court to reciprocate the feelings or acknowledge anything about Lucy's feelings (which isn't even 100% confirmed as far as I know). Natsu so far acts asexual like Sasuke did before the epilogue.

I mean, Gray has all but implied his love for Juvia, and Gajeel basically confessed his feelings for Levy. Natsu has done nothing of the sort, and with Lucy all we know is that she cares deeply for Natsu, which makes sense as she spent the most time with him.
