No and even if it is much better than people make it out to be, it's still awful. It's just reduced to a manga for shippers. No, it's not. Zeref is pretty bland and most of the characters are awful. Having a bland character as the focal point isn't something to brag about.

Tartaros is probably the peak amount of FT, specifically that moment with Lucy/Aquarius.
Well then, how do you write a non-"bland" character, oh wise one?

Keep the FT talk to a minimum. This is a Jump thread after all.

Most final arcs are terrible, true. I guess Kenshin has one of the better ones. Its an amazing arc that comes after an entire series of shit (imo at least :P) which says a lot about its calibre. Despite the hate the AC final arc gets, i also loved that. Hell, Straighten Ups final arc was dope. But considering the length of the series, you cant really compare it to anything properly.

Kenshin's final arc, if anything, was its lowest point. While it was necessary to deal with Kenshin's past and the vestiges of that past, it dragged on too much. Kyoto was its peak. That was properly set up with all characters introduced up to that point all having scenes and Kenshin being pushed to his utmost limit against Shishio as well as Shishio's death itself.

Viz Jump should be caught up on all their new pickups by golden week if that's when the break is, so probably no special catch up issue (unless they go for We Never Learn). I wonder if they'll do something else for it, I feel like they have bonus issues on most of the wsj break weeks.

Correct me if I'm wrong , the TV Rating presents only the Kanto region rating, since other regions have different channels and scheduled except from NHK which is nation wide. So let's say Kanto has 42 million people living that's 1.47 million viewers for the second episode. Guess it was a lucky bet to replace the channel and time slot.
Nope, the TV Rating we see is only Kanto because for other regions you need to pay. This one is free.

Statistically speaking just taking in consideration Kanto is enough for most purposes.
Think of it like the free services that work wonders for basically anybody, except a niche group of people that need a pro subscription because of its advanced features.

The method used is called sampling, where you can get a insight over a big quantity of something by just looking at a small part of it. Basically is the same as tasting in food and drinks, but in this case exact and educated. In this case you are tasting Kanto and so getting an idea of how the entire Japan is watching TV(And yep, there is not only the anime TV Ratings. You also have Movies TV Ratings, Sport, Series, News and others)

About the NTV timeslot only influencing Kanto, NTV is a private television network that airs all over Japan, with the exception of 3 prefectures(Saga, Miyasaki, Okinawa) and in Oita Prefecture the airing is delayed to 7 am. To note that Japan has 47 prefectures and Kanto alone has 7 of them.

Shokugeki no Soma was the best of the pack again this week, second straight 1st place in my vote. No wonder it is getting back its position in the top of the TOCs, it has been fantastic.

I have a good on topic question: what jump series had the best final arc? I feel like many people get disappointed by final arcs more than anything, just cause either they can seem rushed or things are unsolved. Mine would be Dragon Ball
If we're talking final arc, not ending,
Ansatsu Kyoushitsu
Slam Dunk
Hoshin Engi
Jojo (with exception of part 5)

Recent manga is Ansatsu, but Slam Dunk will always be the one with the best final arc.

Yu Gi Oh - A very rare example where the final arc is the best arc in the manga
Slam Dunk - A very satisfying finale
Houshin Engi - Really everything about the last arc works so well that it elevated the series to being one of my favorites because of it
Dragon Quest: Dai no Daibōken - For what is essentially a videogame tie-in this manga is so much better than it has any right to be and the final arc ends on a strong note
Rokudenashi Blues - These type of ending aren't particularly popular since they tend to induce a "that's it" reaction but unlike say Hikaru no Go RB has a strong final arc with the best end you really could have asked for.
Jojo - This series always seem to know how to finish strong a tradition which continued after it left WSJ.

Count me as the camp that don't think Rurouni Kenshin's final arc was good thanks in part to the lame villain though it was nice seeing Kenshin go through some development the circumstances surrounding it felt a tad too contrived.

Damn, how could I forgot Yu-Gi-Oh!.
The last arc was the best conclusion for the series.

The preview for Jump Giga certainly looks enticing. NATOMATO can already sell better than SW1.

Problem I had with Kyoto was how poor the characters had been handled prior to it. Yes the villains and their motive was much much better, but I just couldnt enjoy it due to most of the characters being annoying af. At least in Jinchuu, most had some good developement which made the encounters feel as heavy as they were. It was mostly the character developement that made the arc soo much better than the rest of the series for me, rather than the encounters.

Great final arc:
- Dragon Ball
- Assassination Classroom
- Yu-Gi-Oh!
- Slam Dunk
- Sket Dance
- Jojo
- Hokuto no Ken
- Bakuman.

Mediocre final arc:
- Eyeshield 21
- Death Note
- Nurarihyon
- Medaka Box
- Black Cat
- Kinnikuman (Original run only)

Bad final arc:
- Naruto
- Bleach
- Rurouni Kenshin
- Tennis no Ouji-sama (finished yesterday, one of the worst manga I have ever read...)
- Busou Renkin
- Katekyo Hitman Reborn!
- Muhyo to Rouji
- Houshin Engi (Weirdest last arc ever.)
- Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro
- Yuu☆Yuu☆Hakusho
- Beelzebub
- Shaman King
- Kuroko no Basket
- Toriko

Can't remember if Dr. Slump and ****** Kamen had any "last arc" or it just ended with episodic chapters.

@Savi:
I'm genuinely surprised.. How can you have read Prince of Tennis, the whole 42 volumes of it if you considered it the worst manga you have ever read? I man surely you would have just stopped after say 1-2 volumes if you didn't like it, I just don't understand why you are saying the ending is bad, is a very 'normal' ending..

As for best last arcs, too many last arcs take waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much time, recent examples include BLEACH and Naruto, because the author tries to resolve as much as he/she can before finishing, and if JUMP doesn't cancel it like with Shaman King or Saint Seiya some authors have over extended their manga too much.

E.g. Dragon Quest Dai No Daiboken, sure the ending was fun and everything but IIRC the last arc starts at like volume 23 or something and this manga is like 38 volumes long (If my memory is right, I read it like 10 years ago lol) I remember thinking, how is this gonna continue for 15 more volumes? (I knew it was 38 volumes long) the answer is the authors dragged it and pulled characters out of their asses, like really new characters appeared out of nowhere.

I guess my favorite JUMP could be Slam Dunk, the last match was perfect, I remember how I read the last match from start to finish in a single sitting, and the last couple of chapters I was pretty damn excited.

Other good endings would be Yu Yu Hakusho if you consider Black Chapter to be the last arc, and if HxH had finished in the election/Alluka arc that would have been a great ending too.

Your last sentence about Togashi series shows your bias about him and is series. Just like you can't treat any other arc of the other series as the ending, you also can't do that to Togashi's series. So Yu Yu Hakusho didn't had a good ending, in fact it had one, if not the worst ending ever(Chapter Black ending was also not good at all). And HxH didn't had an ending yet, so you can't even start to talk about how its ending is.

Bakuman in the great final arc category? I thought I was only one who think that way given the massive complaint it generated when it ended.
