Gray, who got his ass kicked by Lyon? By Bickslow? By Rufus? By Nullpudding? By Racer? He's equal to Natsu? The same Natsu that beat guys like Jellal, Zero, Gajeel, DF Sting & Rogue at the same time, Midnight, Bluenote, Cobra, and punched a war god in the face, destroying him in the process?
:notsure

Gray is to Natsu what Piccolo is to Goku.
This is narrative commentary, literally nothing to do with actual feats.

Yes, Natsu at his strongest form surpasses Gray. That's how Natsu benefits from his position as the male lead. But given the context of the battle we're actually discussing, it could not be any clearer that the two were portrayed as dead even.

His point is that if Demonized Gray was really on the same level as END then he should have been WINNING, not just fighting on par with him.
END isn't an average demon, it's Zeref's ultimate creation, made to destroy him. This isn't like the average dragon batting away DS attacks back in the Eclipse, this is DeS Gray still managing to match Zeref's best hope of death blow-for-blow.

Given what little we've seen of Slayers actually managing to accomplish against what they were meant to slay, it's disingenuous to attribute Gray's feat of matching Natsu solely to the Slayer "advantage."

Steering this back into context, if END Natsu shattered Age Seal, than Demonized Gray would shred it and DiMaria as well.

Lol at people saying Gray can get passed Age Seal. Gray isn't Ultear he has nothing to counter timestop. Him and everyone in Hargeon was affected by Age Seal (he was literally on the same battlefield as Wendy). And no, Gray doesn't match even a partial END let alone the real deal. Also use Gray's own feats don't piggy back off of others.

Straightforward.

1) August
2) Dimaria
3) Gildarts
4) Gray/Bloodman
5) Bloodman/Gray
6) Neinhart
7) Minerva
8) Midnight

Bloodman's nigh-invulnerability makes him a difficult combatant, and he's overall much more of a threat to the combatants than Gray is because only a few are vulnerable to anti-demon magic.

Dimaria is getting past anyone not named August. I think August either has time-magic to resist Dimaria's own, or he's powerful enough to negate it (not sure about the latter).

Natsu didn't beat Jellal, it was Etherion power.
Natsu didn't beat Zero, it was Jellal's power.
Natsu didn't beat Gajeel in 1x1 fight, it was with Lucy's help.
Natsu didn't beat Midnight, it wasn't in manga.
Natsu didn't beat Cobra, he was helpless against him while Brain kill him.
And ofcourse, Natsu didn't beat any demon from Tartaros (besides Jackal, who give him realy hard time) while Gray oneshot one of them. And DeS is no sense here, DS didn't scratch any dragons.
Natsu still beat him.
Natsu still beat him
Lucy didn't get involved in Gajeel and Natsu's fight.
Natsu beat Cobra by finding out his weakness. Brain just rushed the inevitable. Natsu would have exploited Cobra's hearing for the rest of the fight.
Gray didn't oneshot any demon. Mashima even said that Laxus beating Tempesta in the anime was canon. Gray just froze the magic barrier particles. He admitted on twitter that he omitted it from the manga because he was pressed for time.

I like Dimaria because the girl has the best character development for all Spriggans, and one of the most well-balanced fighters in the series. Though I can't help but feel she is a tad overrated in her power.

Yes, she was taught her abilities by a divine being. Yes, she is a great swordswoman with great durability. Yes, she also has a takeover form which further enhances her strength. But no. No, she will not be able to beat August, Gildarts or Gray in an all-out fight.

Dimaria was beaten by Sherria. A Sherria who reached the pinnacle of her strength with Third Origin, in conjunction with the ruthless efficiency of her slayer attributes. However, we ask ourselves just how strong was Sherria at that point of time. To put things into perspective, DF Wendy was incapable of hurting Chronos Dimaria despite landing some hits on her. Neither could DF Wendy wound Irene when given the opportunity. She could, however defeat the historia of Ezel and most of Alvarez's soldiers. Wendy is more of a supporting mage with masterful enchantment skills. Not someone whom you would prefer to be leading your attack.

Dimaria was defeated by a God Slayer secret art by Sherria who was empowered by TO. In all honesty, WSD Rough Silk from Sting should be more devastating that the move used to defeat Dimaria. Likewise, someone of Gray and Gildarts' calibre has attacks in their arsenal which could easily rival the damage Dimaria receive to put her out of commission.

Then we get to Age Seal, what I believe most regard as Dimaria's magnum opus. Dangerous ability? Most certainly. Is it invincible like what Dimaria herself proclaimed to be? Definitely not. The spell was incapable of affecting an END who awakened for the first time. A fight between two mages afterall, more of than not boils down to a battle of magic power. END could move freely through Dimaria's Age Seal and render her a heavily wounded heap of mumbling mess because his power surpasses hers. Both Wendy and Sherria could react in time and dodge Dimaria's attacks on numerous occasions despite Age Seal being activated. Definitely it is not actually omnipotent as many think.

With these over and done with, let's get to the battle royale.
Dimaria will probably open the battle with Age Seal. Bradman, Minerva, Midnight and Neinhart are made redundant and will be vulnerable for Dimaria to toy with. Gray, Gildarts and August are able to resist the spell and Dimaria will lose her cool facade, similar to when Ultear countered her time-stopping ability, and employ her God Soul takeover.

Gildarts will seek August out for a rematch of their previous showdown, and Gray will lock horns with Dimaria. Gray who clash evenly with END shortly after he first awakened, will batter Dimaria once he starts busting out his more powerful spells. He will go on to join Gildarts in the fray to tackle August. This is a pretty much the 2-on-1 fight with Cana, but replace Cana with Gray. Try as they might, August incredible power and firing on all cylinders will take down Gildarts and Gray eventually.

If it'sa top 4, then August, Gildarts, Gray, and Dimaria prevails as the last four standing.
So much wrong in this post. She a God got beat by a max potential prodigal God Slayer with help of a Dragon Slayer that can double to triple stats via enchantment. And you think Sting himself can win? Lol, Sting only won Larcade bcs he countered his light magic, and Larcade isn't really that impressive as an S12.

Partial END beat base DiMaria bcs of a surprise attack from a bloodlusted Natsu. Partial END Natsu held back on Gray and still dominated the encounter. If Age Seal was countered by MP like you said then any S12 should be null from it but they aren't. And Partial END was never noted to have any impressive MP in the first place. Age Seal has already shown it needs to be countered and everyone above DiMaria has shown an ability that can definitely counter it. Gray has already been shown to be not one of these people.

Lel Gray's marks mean really nothing, and again have shown nothing to say he can counter it. His MP is trash to a S12, he ain't even on Makarov's MP lvl. Gray gets timestopped and throat slit or a laser through the forehead. The dude only beat a S12 bcs of his ice jacking ability, and his ice advantage. Putting him against an S12 like DiMaria means an insta death. Actually show feats of Gray getting out of Age Seal or drop the argument. Bcs if he could get out of TS then he would've and went to help Wendy beat her, but he can't. Tattoos and all he's getting timestopped and stomped. DiMaria >>> Gray.

I don't think I can expect a serious discussion with you on this.

Quick question: in a battle royal do you judge the victors via "who's more powerful overall" or how you think the battle would go?

My answer could change dramatically depending on this.

Because Gray fought partial END on equal ground doesn't mean he can overcome Dimaria's hax, Actually his slaying advantage helped him quite well and it won't apply on Dimaria's because she ain't a demon, whatsoever, Following this logic, Gildarts will no diff Dimaria.

I only choosed 3 characters, August, Gildarts and Bloodman

I don't understand what August is doing here? he should be restricted. Copying attacks and using it on a larger and stronger scale ain't fun plus there is no strong holder magic that can bring him down even Gildarts couldn't leave a scratch on him.

The mods should remove August from this tournament because he is Zeref's tier.

I'm not sure if you are looking for a moderator's answer, so my bad if you are, but here's my take on this:

Since this is a tournament, then that means it should be a competition between fighters that takes place throughout a series of battles. In a situation like this, we should take all attributes into account.

Not just power. So, that means advantages/disadvantages, skill, intelligence, and effectiveness should all be considered before making a judgement about which contestants will advance.

Here's my visual concept about this:

A tournament is something dynamic. That means different characters fight in an arena to determine a victor.

Power ranking is something static. That is just specifically focusing on power levels and classifying them in order.

So in my opinion, I do see the "tournament" as an actual fighting simulation, rather than a "strongest beats all" type of event. Of course, power is probably the main deciding factor in all of this, but there are some external components that I do like to consider first.

Bloodman's nigh-invulnerability makes him a difficult combatant, and he's overall much more of a threat to the combatants than Gray is because only a few are vulnerable to anti-demon magic.

While that's understandable, I would like to point out something.

Canonically, DF Gajeel was able to defeat Bloodman. I'm fairly certain that DeS Gray is on par or very similar to DF Gajeel.

For this particular situation, let's assume that DeS Gray = DF Gajeel.

In theory, Gray should already have enough power to beat Bloodman. But even if he doesn't, his DeS spells will prove to be a major advantage in their standoff.

Already, this should put Gray above Bloodman overall. While Bloodman has a lot of hax, his body can still be frozen in solid ice.

And since Gray is in his DeS state and uses DeS spells, the battle should be in favor of Gray advancing.

August, Gildartz, DiMaria, and Gray, in that order. August could probably solo everyone, while Gildartz could probably solo everyone but August. DiMaria could take out Gray and others I haven't named with her time seal, but I'm giving Gildartz and August benefit of doubt that they can either stop it, prevent it, or kill her before she has a chance.

Though, I'm sure Gray once he masters demon slayer magic will make DiMaria's time seal worthless.

Top 4 Participants in Group B

1) August

Clearly, August will be the last one standing. Nobody in this group uses holder-type magic. Not to mention, he was able to overwhelm Gildarts who is arguably one of the strongest mages in this group.

2) Gildarts Clive

Again, this one is pretty straightforward. Gildarts is known to be one of Ishgar's strongest mages. The fact that his disassembly magic worked on August means he should have no trouble replicating the same feat to anyone else in this group.

3) Gray Fullbuster

Being able to match E.N.D in an all out fight is not something to laugh at. Despite the slayer advantage, he still demonstrated other noteworthy feats (durability-wise).

I don't see any slayer advantage here. With that said, Gray should be capable of beating medium-tier spriggans like Bloodman and Dimaria.

4) Bloodman

I just don't see what Dimaria can do to Bloodman that would render him unable to fight... First of all, it isn't proven whether her Age Seal would have any effect on Bloodman or not. Secondly, even if she were to use Age Seal, she has no means of defeating him. All physical attacks are useless. There are literally only two ways for Bloodman to get hit. Either the attack contains properties of magic barrier particles or enough firepower is put in to obliterate his body in one shot. None of which Dimaria has...

5) Dimaria Yesta

As others have pointed out, whether Dimaria uses Age Seal in the beginning of the fight or at the end, August would cancel it. Why? Because he instantaneously copies and cancels anything that affects him. In a way, having less AoE is more advantageous in this group. Also, assuming Dimaria isn't able to beat Bloodman, I still don't see how she would be able to defeat Gray either. Her laser beams were deflected by Sherria (who should be comparable to Gray) and every other attack she's shown hasn't been that impressive.

6) Neinhart

In theory, he should be a threat. But with the Spriggan Historias being the most powerful beings he has ever created, I don't see him making it into the top 4. Especially since every mage above him can easily take down those historias...

7) Midnight

While it's true that Minerva has better feats than Midnight, it's only because she has more feats. Going off of hype, I think Oración Seis as a whole are somewhat formidable opponents. Irene sent Juliet + Hynhe to fight them. Meanwhile, Sabertooth was utterly humiliated in the north. I can see this going both ways though.

8) Minerva

Like I previously mentioned, it is too close to call who will be eliminated first. I honestly think Minerva and Midnight have an equal chance of being defeated. Although, I will admit, her teleportation magic might come in handy.

Well this is a battle, so how you think it goes.

That said, a power rank would strongly influence the outcomes. Unless there's heavy advantages/disadvantages, power comes out on top generally.

Yeh, pretty much this.
If Gray was able to match an E.N.D that took out Dimaria, there's no way Age Seal will work on him.
That plus the fact that Gray and Natsu have pretty much been portrayed as equals throughout the whole series, so they'd fare roughly the same against any opponent.
--- Double Post Merged, , Original Post Date: ---

Base him, not demonized him.
Same way it would work on Base Natsu but not E.N.D him.
Brandish's Command T worked on Gray but not on END.

There is a clearly a powerlevel difference between Gray and END-even more than the gap between Mard and Gray in Tartaros.

END's Curse Power>Gray's Magic Power

Hiro has already potrayed this

And why are you forgetting that Gray had Slayer advantages against END otherwise Gray would have one shotted END like he did with Tempesta if they were equal.

August Gildarts and DiMaria pass automatically. As for fourth winner I voted Bradman. While he is a demon and is vunerable to Gray but Bradman can became untouchible to nullify slayers advantage. He also has ice resist as he is Ice Devil Slayer too. Gray and Midnight came close by the way, if we count Midnight Starty Sky arc hype, but unfourtinantly he did not show any of that powers in manga.

Wait, i dont understand what some of you guys are saying. About Dimaria's Age Seal.
August and Gildarts would be able to resist Age Seal, not counter it. What i mean is, Gildarts would walk out of it just like END could, doesn't mean he would cancel it like Ultear. He would be unaffected but the rest of the fighters would still be affected.
The same goes with August. He's the only one countering Age Seal with his magic. Against CS he didnt cancel Cobra's ability to hear his thoughts, or cancel Racer's speed. He just copied their magic so that he could also hear thoughts and be faster than Racer. Against Dimaria he would not cancel Age Seal, he would just walk inside of it just like Dimaria.

So i dont get why people think Gildarts or August would make Age Seal useless against everyone else. That is false.

I don't think Bloodman is an Ice Devil Slayer. He uses Ice Devil Slaying Magic, but he is still demon.

Essentially, he uses Silver's magic, but doesn't take the same role as Silver, who is an actual Devil Slayer.

And even though Bloodman is intangible, Gray can still freeze him into solid ice.

That would be enough to shatter Bloodman and ultimately defeat him.

Devil Slaying advantage should still come into play here, but even if it doesn't, Gray can still freeze Bloodman's entire body.
