It really are arguments every time before the toc drops, giathuan wasn't lying. I wonder now, when it comes to romances what does everyone actually look for when they read them? Like specifically? There's always a majority but this thread seems to have people look for different things so I'm interested.
Chemistry. Sometimes it feels like, as if only the author/writer/manga(it's not just manga) wants 2 characters to be a couple, but not one of them themselves. That's awkward.
Not having the childhood friend as the big love interest. It always bothered me, that in these cases, both characters know each other, and then they realize they love each other. I prefer it, when they'd share a more sibling-like relationship. (And characters who grew up as sibling(but not blood related) but become love interests: Stop that, that's gross!)
Otherwise, let your characters work on the relationship. Let's them date and learn more of each other. These things are interesting.
It's especially frustrating as someome, who ships most times girlXgirl, because many times the girls have better chemistry with each other, but then a boy just needs to say hi and suddenly one of them(or both of them, because love triangles) fell in love with him. Would be nice, if people would put more effort in such things-
Or let for once have girls and boys being friends. Also annoying that some people arent seemingly aware that friendship between sexes can be a thing(I think, that's why I enjoyed Rukias & Ichigos relationship so much in Bleach).
(I won't mention same sex couples between protagonists, bc HA! Won't see something like this in WSJ in my lifetime)
