Have you ever thought of applying to mod the Art Forum? Might have better luck than me.

No I haven't actually.. actually I was asked to mod it many years ago when I was at my most active and the art section was one of those I visited the most, but I wasn't sure I was up for it then so I declined. Sort of the same now. I have time to check the forums on my phone every once in a while but I'm not really active enough to mod I think.

What's this American God? Can't say I've actually heard of it myself.

I was so excited I couldn't even spell right. American Gods is a new tv series based on the book of the same name by Neil Gaiman. If I have to choose, it's probably my favorite novel of all time. Show looks friggin' fantastic from what I've seen of it so far.

To put it very simply, it's a book/show about Gods; old Gods who struggle to stay worshipped (and thus stay alive) in modern America where people have deserted them and started to worship the modern Gods (internet, media, etc).

The story includes segments on how these Gods "migrated" with the people who believed in them, to what would later become America, but the main story follows Shadow Moon, a recently released convict who on his way to his wife's funeral encounters a mysterious con-man called Mr. Wednesday. He is employed as the mystery-man's body-guard and thus dragged on a road-trip through an America he has never before encountered; because Mr. Wednesday says a war is coming between the old gods and the new and he is set on assembling as many of the old gods as he can.

I hope I didn't describe it too confusing-like.

Reading the synopsis of the series and your description of it makes me quite excited. I've seen the trailer for it because I know the actor Ricky Whittle from a british tv show and a YTber I follow hyped it up when they were doing casting. I'll be checking it out.

Thought it felt like something up your alley! I'm probably biased as a major Gaiman-fanboy as to its greatness, but on the other hand this is the first book I read by him, and the one that instantly made me buy all his other ones.

Too bad Amazon Prime in Sweden uploads the episode a day later.. I'll have to wait until tonight to watch it.

He was also for a period in GoT; which made a lot of fans curious as to what his role would be. Turned out to be quite minor...in the grands scheme of things.

I was a little dissapointed with the first episode. Well, it wasn't that bad, but it wasn't that good either. Very trippy (like the book). I was hyped about McShane, but not sure anymore where his take on the character is going. Didn't like how music was used most of the episode, felt like it was used to carry the scenes that weren't strong enough on their own. I guess this striked me a lot, since lot of current shows are using music just brilliantly (Leftovers, Fargo, Handmaid's Tale). There were some funny bits, but I felt like the timing was a bit off with the humor.

Not sure what to think of it all. It was weird. But guess its too early to judge, I did like the modernized take on Technical Boy. Not sure why they changed the spooks though.

I actually liked it, although I agree with certain parts of what you're saying. I'll write a bit more later about it. Probably will watch it again too since wifey went sleepy halfway through and wants to watch it again.

Ha, nah, he turned two in the beginning of July. But thanks anyway I guess!

Well I guess I haven't been super active lately. A post here and there in the win thread and some game threads or w/e. Had four weeks off so I've been spending as much time as possible offline and with my family.

Last day before going back to work today though, so I'll probably be more active from now (during slow days at work and such).

Thanks. It's from one of my favorite books; Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal. I whole-heartedly recommend it as it is laugh-out-loud funny, philosophical, wise, and really interesting all at the same time. You have to be open to blasphemy, though.

If you feel like traveling to the opposite side of the planet, Sweden's got a lovely autumn weather going, leaves are all red and orange, and foggy breath in the four-degree morning air. If you like 10 degrees being the peak temperature in the day (when the sun shines strongest).. better than 50 in any case!

(I bet Northwern Sweden has like five feet of snow already though..)

And I've been doing well. This semester of uni is wrapping up pretty quickly, which means assignments due dates and exams are coming up soon. NOT. READY. FOR. ANY. OF. THIS. RIGHT. NOW.
Other than that, work is also getting to the busy season, with the spring racing carnival coming up, and of course with the holiday season too.

Come here in the summer (if you manage to hit that one week of the year..) then, might be more like your spring I guess.

Oh, is it your final year by now, or one left? Heck, I don't even know where you work.. see, you're becoming a stranger when you just disappear like that!

Not that I don't know what it's like, I was pretty much gone for more than a year until last year.. but hey, I got a kid so I had a good reason!

I'm good, got back from a belated "honey-week" in Rome last week and I'm still kinda riding on the good vibes from that. If you do end up going to somewhere more to the South of Europe, Italy is a good place! Rome is crazy if you like history.
