There's no way Pierrot is going to do 1 cour of BC... They wouldn't have waited so long if that was the case. I think it's safe to assume we can expect 2 cours minimum.
Well there was Eldive this year which was a single cour with filler to boot and it was announced December most anime production takes half a year to get things rolling unless they were planned years head like MHA and Boruto. I agree that this won't be anymore than 2 cours at minimum but a long running serial is a risky gambit since it could turn out as badly as Twin Star Exorcists.

The importance of the chapter also helps to classify the manga into TOC.
Not really, the editor gets the decision in what positions the chapters get in and has nothing to do with content the chapter being ranked isn't this week's chapter anyways.

Anyway, this week's chapter of Dr. Stone was a bit important because of the new character.

I always assumed that the ranks aren't ranks. Just where the editor decides to place them based on popularity. And I always assumed the editor may place it based on how popular it is, and how excited the current chapter is.
It never really made sense to me that they'd say "we're putting this on top because it got the most votes 8 weeks ago", because 8 weeks ago is irrelevant with what's happening this week.

We all don't really know either way though

I'm on the side of people, who enjoy the Whole Cake Island arc. After Dress Rosa Arc Oda changed the pacing in this one and it feels more energetic and focused. And for once, we get female characters who dont look like Nami and can actually fight. Which is always a plus in my book. I gonna wait for the arc''s end to rate it, but I can understand when ppl think it's one of the best arcs since the time skip.
The only thing which bothers me, are the tantrums of Big Mom. They arent that interesting and dont feel that threatening.

Btw, A shot out to Twice from My Hero Academia. Seeing a character who supports a transcharacter(especially a villain) in a manga is really a nice surprise. Need more of those.

If that was the case then One Piece would never fall below 1# (and it never does on average) as Oda stated in 2007; Jump does not order the manga based on popularity from the week before. It's true that popular series are in front, but the actual order is decided from week to week by the editor-in-chief. Basically, it may show the postcards do affect ranks, but it's mostly up to the editor himself. And honestly surprise people in these threads take rankings seriously after the Black Clover debacle where outright bad chapters got first place above OP...for several weeks straight.

Guess who's back? Yes, the one you love to hate, ME.

And what a coincidence, in a week where not ONE VETERAN but TWO get's number one in TOC? Hmm

Also no WCS in number one in toc? Such a shame... NOT. :V

Come on... Even Black Clover got number one for christ sake...

I know you guys missed me.

Still venerating veterans.

You said it was strictly based on popularity which is false.

Popular series go in the front of the magazine.
Unpopular series go to the bottom.
The pretty much the way most magazine in general work. The most interesting topics and articles are placed between the front and middle, and the stuff ppl would care the least about are placed in the back.

However I don't believe Jump ranks things in order of their votes. I do believe the editor uses the votes from 8 weeks ago to determine what is popular and not popular. But I think he likely orders things based on the content of the magazine. Because it simply doesn't make sense to base the order of a magazine based on reader results from 8 weeks prior

I'm a bit indifferent for One Piece's timeskip, it had a lot of strong points but some parts felt bland. I'm not interested in WCI arc that much.

HxH's "timeskip" has a much better start than One Piece's.

Dark Continent vs New World, the voyage so far is better than the Fishman Island arc.

Some would say that a good story relies on the strength of its villain/conflict
Villain and conflict aren't the same thing, not even close.

What about all stories that don't have a villain? The most sold story ever, huge classic and the father of Modern Romances, Don Quixote, doesn't have a villain! So what about that?

Conflating such a big thing as a story to just the Villain Strength characteristic(even just the conflict characteristic) just shows how little thought is placed out into that reading and appreciating the story.

And aren't you people that like to place as a flaw of a series the systematic increase of strength of the villains. Well One Piece has at least 2 arcs where the villains it shows are weaker than before, Wapol and Hody. Interestingly those are 2 of the most liked arcs of the Series. Personally, I love Drum Island and Fishman Island.

You're joking right? Lol, the voyage. You can't even call what is happening a voyage. is just people in cubicles inside a ship.

Also Dark Continent isn't a Timeskip. It doesn't even has characters from previous arcs. Even Leorio that appeared in the election is pretty much gone.

Nope. It's better than what OP offered. Doesn't matter, it is a voyage...

Well I did use it loosely if you read my post. It's not your typical timeskip but I like it focusing on Kurapika since he was absent for the Chimera Ant arc. (not that Togashi follows the typical route to begin with)

And absent in the Election, and Greed Island!

Just saying "is not typical" doesn't make it atypical. It basically something totally different. Is like people just love to praise the series and so invented a generic manner of praising it. "Not Typical" something.

Nope, OP Fishman Island, that started right after they left Sabaondy Archipelago and submerged, and a ton more "voyage" like things to offer than HxH "atypical" "voyage". That is so "atypical" that doesn't have basically nothing of a voyage to offer.

Also a timeskip exist to show the progress of the characters and the world after that "void" span of time. HxH had no progress to show, not even the characters progress. Well, I could give you Leorio, that in the beginning of the arc, and not in the timeskip, turned an apprentice of one of the Zodiacs.
So are you going to say that is also an "atypical" timeskip? Yep, Togashi writes so well that he does everything "atypical" and so it is so good.

If you focused in what he actually is doing, and not what he isn't(the atypical stuff you say he does, though he doesn't), you would get a better grasp of the story and its quality.
But it really doesn't matter to me how you see the story, and certainly you're happy fangasming with it. So keep doing it. But when trying to say that something, that the series doesn't even do, is better than something that other series indeed do. Remember that you can be called about it.

In action/comic type series it's a very common saying that a story is only as good as its villain.
And there's a common rule to writing that you should always attempt to make the villains more interesting than hero.
There's no set rule to writing. There probably are stories out there that are good despite having a bad villain.
But some of the best stories typically have incredible villains

Popular series go in the front of the magazine.
Unpopular series go to the bottom.
The pretty much the way most magazine in general work. The most interesting topics and articles are placed between the front and middle, and the stuff ppl would care the least about are placed in the back.

However I don't believe Jump ranks things in order of their votes. I do believe the editor uses the votes from 8 weeks ago to determine what is popular and not popular. But I think he likely orders things based on the content of the magazine. Because it simply doesn't make sense to base the order of a magazine based on reader results from 8 weeks prior
To begin with, we as readers have no idea how many votes each chapter of a series gets per week and also how Jump uses the ages of the people who send in the questionnaires. The media guide for 2017 puts people 25 or above as 27.4% of the readership. These people are the dragonball generation leftovers who still read Jump religiously even in their 30s and maybe 40s and the One Piece generation. The total combined readership of 10 to 15 year olds is 26%, slightly less than the 25 and above readership.

We have no idea how the editors consider how a certain series is doing in an age demographic and how they place it in the TOC based on this information. Oda said that the order is placed in a way so as to "maximize the enjoyment of the reading public". One piece appeals to all ages and its also the most popular so it will always be in the front. However, the rest of the series then become more gray. Certain series might not get as many votes but it will still be placed in the front because the contents of the chapter in this upcoming issue appeal to their target demographic of 10 to 15 year olds. I don't doubt that HxH fans send in votes for the series as one of the top 3 most enjoying series but its still not placed in the top 5 because the people who send in the votes might not be this target demographic or the contents of the chapter might not be considered "appropriate" for this demographic.

All in all, this is not a science so its best to not take the TOC placement as gospel for how a certain chapter was ranked.
