It's still kinda ridiculous how powerful Asta is in the story. Dude can cancel magic, absorb and release magic, and already can kinda control his demon form, as well as sense ki....and have sorta superhuman strength and durability lmao. Don't see how anyone can beat the guy realistically outside of presumably the Sorcery Emperor. Besides that I hope the anime looks nice.
You forgetting how wild all the powers in the series actually are: reality bending, disintegration, zombies etc.

Look at all the times he's been possessed, petrified, or just goddamn stabbed. The power scale in Black Clover is high enough to handle Asta.

Speaking of BC, I'm surprised the whole tournament is gonna be the boring crystal destruction game. I figured Tabata would try to change it up, but I guess that's beyond his capacity. I also like how they changed the terrain as if the terrain used was relevant in the first round. What's the point in changing the terrain if a bunch of mages can fly or just ignore the terrain in general? We all know each round is just gonna be Asta running/flying in yelling with his opponents exclaiming "H-How could this be?!" as their magic is erased or sent flying back towards their crystal.

There's a pretty good reason to possible keep with the theme of protecting the crystal
before the tournament started the King of Clover Kingdom stated he was going to be present at the raid on White Night Eye's supposed hideout and since he's a high priority official of the kingdom his safety is of the highest concern so they need to be able to protect him as knights.
It does matter to be ready for different terrains, because they do have limits to their magic reserves and sustained flight would probably unnecessarily consume manna that could be used for defense/offense also ignoring terrain for some magic would/could cause unnecessary harm to fellow team mates. Asta is more suited for one on one confrontations than being able to take on multiple opponents, yes theoretically he could, but in doing so would cause him more physical harm slowing him down.

I'd give him the benefit of the doubt on his story creating skills and say he's sticking so close to cliches because that's what Jump readers want. Jump is ruthless in cancelling series if they don't perform well in the questionnaires. By trying something new, or by changing things up a bit from the norm, there's always a possibility that the series drops in rankings. Sure every mangaka in jump has to deal with this, but its this pressure that causes so many series to be "generic". Jump readers are incredibly fickle but they also respond rather well to Shonen cliches like the tournament arc, friendship and the like. That's why we see so many Jump manga with these themes and plot points to the extent that they've become stale. From time to time you'll see a Neverland that basically took the dive with trying something different and the readers responded to the story and now its a success. There's something to be said for how Black Clover has lasted for 13 volumes and has gotten this much promotion within the magazine yet individual volume sales don't break 200k on Oricon within the month its released.

I was thinking:
Probably the new manga that will be released will only appear after issue #44 because of the Golden Future Cup.
What are the odds of Hunter x Hunter coming back to the hiatus and World Trigger coming back?
By the way, do you think there will be a veteran releasing a new manga soon on Jump?

I figure that BC is relatively safe considering the amount of promotion it gets and the anime right around the corner. It has the safety net to try changing it up a bit.
I'm not complaining about how cliche it is. I'm saying that the tournament has become stale and repetitive rather quickly, and it's only been about 10 chapters since the tournament began. Changing the game type for the second round would have kept things fresh for the reader for a while longer. It also works in universe as well because having a variety of game types would showcase a broader pool of skills that the mages possess. They want the best of the best after all. But of course, it's beyond his capability.

The terrain is not meant to be difficult just for the topography but taking into account the magics as well. And no, Asta is not that overpowered, all the magics are ridiculous.
the painting dude magic is BEYOND overpowered

FINALLY SOME SENSE MY GOD. It's simple as that. If it were that bad it would be canceled a LONG time ago... And guess what? It's beating MHA almost every week now even with the promotion the (great) anime is getting it.

Lol beating it at what? A superficial ranking system that's unreliable as a measure of quality? Talk to me when it beats MHA in sales and worldwide popularity. :cheez

Was I the only one who was really excited for this tournament arc? All he had to do was a 1v1 or 2v2 elimination tournament and it would have been great. But no, we get 3v3 protect and destroy matches which are gimmicky and each character has had very little focus. Leave it up to Tabata to bring the disappointment. You had one job... He went with the less cliche option this time around and it's actually worse.

Getting excited over anything in BC is like asking for a punch in the gut with a smile. You're only hurting yourself in the end.

The tournament in BC makes no sense. It's meant to decide who deserves the Royal Knight title, but it's using a 3v3 mechanism for that. There are mutliple teams who are carried by just 1 guy which makes the other 2 in that team pointless or unable to show their strength. Will these 2 still get the title if they basically do nothing?
Other than that Tabata still doesn't know how to show character growth. Noelle defeated her brother, the guy who tormented her for over 10 years, with 1 attack in 1 chapter and doesn't even react to it. That's as if Nami defeated Arlong on her own and left her town in the first 5 pages of the next chapter.

"Unreliable as measure of quality"... Yeah we're not even talking about the very system that produced the greatests mangas of all time. Let's all change it to whatever you think its better, right? Give me a break.

one piece never beat naruto worldwide popularity and it's still there and it still sold double the number of copies. Who is Naruto now again?

And I don't think BC can surpass MHA in sales but oh boy, if this happens I'll shall come back to collect your soul. And I won't have mercy, be advised xD

It's easy, you just need to make the final team fight themselves. Since they'll know "all" their tatics and magics it would be a very interesting fight.

Also this tournament could be like the chuunin shiken. The winner team could not necessarily produce the "royal knights", whoever is best suited for the position (showed in fights) could be selected.

Or whatever. It's impossible to predict BC, I already gave up.

So the winning team would be rated separately and everyone else would be rated as a team?
The problem i mentioned still exists, members in some teams can't even show their strengths because one guy in each team one-shots the other teams.
That i can agree with.

So today at the Yakuza live stream they announced a Fist of the North Star game. I think the type of Yakuza games really fits Fist of the North Star universe. And I am hyped up for the game.

I love the Yakuza games(my copy of Kiwami just dispatched!), and I can definitely get behind a Fist of the North Star game with the same style of gameplay. Count me in.

Yes the winning team could be selected in the spot but within it, the "leader" of the royal knights would be selected after the battle between them. For the eliminated teams only the best ones or with the most strategic magics (like the space-time ones or the painting one or wtv). The "leader" could also select the remaning members.

Again, I don't think it's a matter of strength, but a matter of usability. That's why the magic emperor said that thing.

The possibilities are endless.

That trailer did look pretty decent, I always assumed the Yakuza series was just the Japanese equivalent of GTA.

just to make sure, we're all on the same page here:
We all agree that something will eventually interrupt this tournament, right? I mean, if there is a bigger clichè than a tournament in a manga, than it's that said tournament gets interrupted. Especially, if, as you said in your last post, by repeating the same idea of defending crystals is used, which makes it even more .
And don't misunderstand me: I dont mind these clichès and tropes in manga and anime. They're easy to follow and even if someone is used to them, kind of comfortable to read/watch. There is a reason these clichès and tropes became clichès and tropes in the first place.
And Black Clover is not a bad manga(as long Asta is not in the centre of attention).
But on the other hand, I'm quite curious, if there is a Black Clover fan, who've read last chapter, and reacted like this: "Oh boy another crystal round? BEST.MANGA.EVER!"-without being sarcastic or ironic. I mean, it's not impossible, there are 7 billion humans worldwide, and beautylies in the eye of the beholder. (Just in my opinion, it would be so bizarre, it would be on par with JoJo).

About the latest volume cover of MHA:
Meh. Not a fan of these portrait covers. I think the best one is still the 9th volume cover, which is ironic, bc the villain on this cover is pretty much one of the weakest in the entire manga so far.
