Tarot Card Triggers
1. Sane Detective
The Tower

- 3+ dead players have their role hidden by the Janitor: gets a single use of the Investigator's ability.
- 3+ townies are lynched: won't be able to vote on the next day.

2. Insane Detective
The Sun

- A player he investigates is killed on the same night: immediately gets to know the actions that were used on that player like a Mortician.
- 3+ townies are lynched: needs to win a coin flip every time he tries to investigate someone or his target will be randomized.

3. Paranoid Detective
The Wheel of Fortune

- The Sane Detective and the Insane Detective are both dead: turns into a Sane Detective, with a retroactive effect on his previous investigations.
- A player he investigates is killed on the same night: unknowingly turns into a Naive Detective.

4. Sane Doctor
The Moon

- Successfully saves a townie from death: his protection won't work on mafia members anymore.
- Successfully saves a mafia member from death: won't be able to save anyone else until that same mafia member is dead.

5. Insane Doctor
The Chariot

- Kills a townie: 50% fail chance to protect or kill someone at night (turns into "Unskilled" Insane Doc).
- Kills a mafia: loses the ability to protect and can only kill at night (turns into a "Townie" Serial Killer).

6. Bodyguard
The Stars

- 3+ townie targets: he will be confirmed as a townie on the second next Day Phase (like an Innocent Child).
- 2+ mafia targets: unknowingly turns into a Hider.

7. Prostitute
Justice

- 1+ mafia action blocked: gets a temporary Bulletproof protection to use on herself for one night.
- 3+ townie townie actions blocked: she gets automatically redirected to a random target whenever she tries to block a player.

8. Barkeeper
The Magician

- Every time a drunk mafia reveals his role: also reveals the activation conditions and effects of that player's Tarot abilities.
- Every time a drunk townie's ability which would have produced a meaningful result gets blocked or redirected to a useless or harmful target: he won't be able to use his ability on the next night.

9. Politician
The Emperor

- 3+ force someone to vote for a mafia member: becomes a Prosecutor.
- 3+ force someone to vote for a townie: 50% fail chance to corrupt a vote (like a Mafia Gambler).

10. Bomb
The Lovers

- Still alive at the start of Day 5: will blow up the next mafia who targets him with any night action (that isn't a defusing).
- 2+ successfully targeted with a night action before the end of Night 4: will blow up the next mafia or townie who targets him with any night action (that isn't a defusing).

11. Witch
The Empress

- Still alive at the start of Day 5: she will obtain a temporary Santa Claus present she can only give on the next night, containing a single-use Bulletproof protection for the same night (could have just said she gets a single-use Sane Doctor's ability...).
- Less than 50% of the votes that lead to the Witch getting lynched come from mafia members: her ability will take place one night earlier if her target is a townie or one night later if her victim is a mafia member.

12. Restless Spirit
The Devil

- Killed by a townie or lynched: his ability will count for two votes instead of one.

14. Death Miller
The Hanged Man

- Investigated by a Detective: 50% chance to kill anyone who targets him with any night action until he kills someone (like an "Unskilled" Paranoid Gun Owner).
- Kill a townie with the unlocked ability: won't be able to vote on the next day.

15. Traitor
The Hierophant

- Not recruited by the start of Day 4: can duel a player like a Badass Cowboy once with a 50% chance to kill or be killed. The duel is secret and only the dead duelist is revealed. Loses the chance to use the ability is he gets recruited.
- Recruited 3 or less other mafia members alive: gets a single use of the role of one of the dead mafia members. If he chooses the Pirate, he can only choose the role he died with (so either Pirate if he hadn't stolen anything, or the role the Pirate had stolen).

16. Mafia Boss
Temperance

- Investigated by a Detective: can infect someone with a Non-Voter Disease which will be passed around for the rest of the game, but can only do it on the following night.
- Survived a Day phase with 4+ non-penalty votes on him: the only targets available to be mafia-killed for the following night will be those who voted for him.

17. Mafia Escort
Judgement

- 3+ townie actions blocked: all her next blocks will also reveal the target of the player she blocks (like a Spy).

0. Regular Mason
The Fool

- 2+ mafia members get lynched after the player became a Regular Mason: becomes a Martyr.
- Loses an active role by being recruited: unknowingly becomes a Miller.

I will share my card if I see things are safe for it, which would happen if I can get these effects soon in order to see how they work and how relevant they are. That is about it, if I don't get the effect on D2, then I will try and get it and D3, and so on.
Plus what @gnut said, these effects can be guessed to some extent.

Either way, we can all agree that the atmosphere these cards are giving is quite good.

Let me ask this of TG fans...are there many tarot cards or do you believe there is a small pool of different kinds of cards?
Like could multiple peole have an emperor card or are there enough card for everyone to have something different?

If i am not mistaken, there are 22 cards and, coincidently, we have 22 players.

While there have been characters that have had more association with one card, like @Organizized ´s character and the Devil card, and the whole Fool´s journey of @Brandish , I think that pretty much all of our characters have had at least 2 cards associated wit them.

Gonna go and take a look to see if there is any compilation of this in some wikia

Well...if everyone is different,i would say its hopeless to try and figure out what they mean and no harm in sharing.

But,if there is only like say idk 6,7,10,etc between 20players...might get pretty easy to predict someones potential effect....

So from this, we could say that you have to use your authority, preventing things from escalating into simple bandwagons of little to no argumentation.
At least that is what I´d guess.
I see this as something too subjective for a trigger, imo. I'm expecting things that are binary: it either happen or it didn't, no discussions. Like what you mentioned about abilities being used.

And considering that up until now only me (The Emperor), Gry (The Star) and Demon (The Hanged Man) revealed our cards, if they are related to our roles/abilities, as Greg said, things won't look so good for Demon, LOL.

While I have not found any associations of my card and my character in the manga (could juts be the size on the TG fandom), I do have to say that I find it´s meaning and the way my character was portrayed in TG do aling, just as just Farfallas (IE the cards were assigned based on WYIS/Vandred interpration of the character arc, not necessarily in-history assoacition). Tho this being 2/22, it could just be coincidence.

Will keep a compilation of the revelead cards, gonna go backtrack to see who else revelead theirs.

Yeah, I also thought the Cards could be related to the chars we got instead, randomized along with them. But then I'd expect to be The Empress, instead of The Emperor (unless Eto is a trap, who knows nowadays).

Omg. You just did not. How dare you to say that about her! D: Would you never talk like that about Eto?! Thank you very much.

The cards probably have nothing much to do with the characters we got because in my PM it said
The hand of fate has dealt you the card of Justice!
It seems that we got our cards randomly.

So let's analyze.

At the beginning of the game, all players shall receive their own Tarot Card.
Everyone has their own tarot card, so there's certainly no duplicates. There's also enough cards for 20 players for everyone to have their own one.

Each Tarot has an Upright and a Reverse effect which get triggered by the player performing or being subject to certain actions. The effect that you receive will depend on your Karma. If you hinder your team, you will receive a Reverse Effect punishment, and likewise if you help your team through your actions, you will receive the Upright Effect reward.
Your actions in this game will change your "Karma" status, idk some numeric value or even a simple binary on-off thing.

"Hindering your team" is probably: Being among the voters of a lynched townie and using certain roles on a townie(like blocking, killing, redirecting). That's all that comes to mind.
"Helping the team": Being among the voters of a lynched non-townie, blocking/redirecting/killing a mafia with your role, saving someone with protective roles.

Could be some more things to it, like simply voting, but so far I I'm assuming it's somewhat simple to grasp.

The Upright Effect can be considered as a positive karma buff that rewards you, the player, with Role Changes or Temporary Roles, additional votes, increased success changes etc.
So basically you're given something good. Whether it's in combination with your role hard to say, but for many I think it would have some synergy.

The Reverse Effect is a negative karma debuff that punishes you with decreases in the chance of Night/Day Actions being successfully pulled off, rendering you incapable of performing a Night Action etc.
I take it your role actions have a 50% accuracy or something when in reverse, to be an easy cointoss. It can also fully block you. Random redirecting could be in the "etc." part as well, but it seems to mostly only be about affecting your role actions, whereas upright effects can vary a lot more.

Every player can unlock both effects, even on the same Day or Night Phase. The activation condition for the effects of some Tarots are mutually exclusive, but if they're not and you unlock both, they will work at the same time.
This could give us more hints to how it works. Your card apparently can be both upright and reverse, even though that doesn't make much sense. That means this system shouldn't be understood as having 1 card, and depending if that card is upright or reverse you get that effect. No, if you get the requirements you "unlock" the effect of upright/reverse for the next day/night. And that keeps repeating or something.

With a few exceptions, you will be informed of a Tarot Effect's activation at the end of Day Phases, but not necessarily about what the effect is. You may also be given a clue as to what the effect is.
You are usually notified of when you get upright/reverse effects, but not what the effect is. Not sure how good the system is strategy-wise since it seems like there's little way to make use of it, but let's see how it developts. The clue could be a good thing, IF you get one.

Also, you are mostly informed at the end of day phases. So I take it it can't go under effect before night starts, and your previous unlocked upright/reverse effects work for 1 night and 1 day. So you unlock them at day 2, you have it for night 2 and day 3? Or only for night 2 and your night actions determine if/what you have next day.

As the saying goes, "Karma is a bitch", and as a result you don't actually know the conditions for gaining these Effects, even after you have received them. The Scum have their own ways of finding this information and learn what they received from a Card Effect and why, but only after having unlocked it.
-Unlike townies, mafias somehow find out if they have upright/reverse effect and what their effect is. Not sure why mafia needs buffs like this. Perhaps because the "helping/hindering your team" thing doesn't work as well for mafias as it does for townies, so they have a bit different things. They could even have some special roles locked to upright/reverse effects.

In some cases, you don't learn the effect of a Tarot's activation either, including Role Changes. In short, you need to be very careful if you unlock a Reverse Effect, think about your actions, and try to understand when it all went wrong.
This one needs no analyzing. Just read this and act accordingly.

Well, as it is, I don't think there's much detriment to revealing which card we have, but to be fair, I haven't read all of the info yet so I might be missing something. I also, personally haven't paid much attention to cards even though I read TG and they're used a lot there. But we do have Lambu, kato etc here. Good theorists for this stuff

Yep, this fits my theory of it being association based on opinion. Tho still, 4/22 is still too small of a pool:

So for now

@Farfalla - Emperor:

Upright: Authority, father-figure, structure, solid foundation

Reversed: Domination, excessive control, rigidity, inflexibility

@GrySun - Star

Upright: Hope, spirituality, renewal, inspiration, serenity

Reversed: Lack of faith, despair, discouragement

@Demonspeed - The Hanged Man

Upright: Suspension, restriction, letting go, sacrifice

Reversed: Martyrdom, indecision, delay

And me, @Kato756 - Magician

Upright: Power, skill, concentration, action, resourcefulness

Reversed: Manipulation, poor planning, latent talents

I agree with you Farf that this is a bit too subjective, but maybe this fixed condition that you mentioned could be related to the cards.
Again with yours, authorithy is the theme.
Maybe Giving the deciding vote in a lynching, would be a good one.
Mine, with concentration/resourcefulness, I´d say Correctly guessing another person role.

I can´t help but shake the feeling that @WithYouInSpirit and @Vandred are either giving me praise or laughing their asses off.
Oh yeah, will we also know that person´s card when they die?

Thought about alerting you (and Arjuna) so we don't have future accidents xD

They serve mostly as foreshadowing certain events or as a way to show how the characters are truly feeling, and are somewhat sublte, like some splash of blood or tears.
