What we, and japanese fans, desperately want/need is a simple school training arc where Deku sits down with either All might or another teacher and just spars. If All Might doesn't step in now, he's basically setting in stone that he's not growing as a teacher. There's also the possibility of an upcoming Cultural festival which can also change up some dynamics. It can go back to student interaction and growing from each other, one of the best aspects of the series. That's another thing Horikoshi wrote himself in a corner with. Both of them failed to get their provisional hero licenses and now they have to get sidelined for 5 to 6 months in the story, until they get another chance at the exam in march. Without a license they can't take part in internships and aren't allowed to use their quirks in dangerous situations.
Without a timeskip the only place these two can use their quirks is at the school and after everything that happened in the current Yakuza arc another school training arc won't cut it in terms of fights. But he also can't just timeskip 5 to 6 months straight to the end of the first year. It's been over 150 chapters and the school year itself is barely 5 to 6 months old.
Honestly, this shows how much an editor is necessary and how quickly a story can drop if the editor is too lenient/not doing his job. Once a series falls, its incredibly hard to get back up to the top 5. Heroaca basically cannot finish in the top 5 this year because of the placements this past month and a half. Its effectively ruined the record Heroaca was keeping and it basically came because the mangaka wanted to try something new, but struggled structuring everything so as to keep it both exciting and coherent and his editor either didn't or couldn't help keep him on track. I know its important to let the mangaka have freedom to express themselves and do what they want to but they can't just keep okaying anything and everything. To be a little harsh, this is effectively a case study on how to ruin a franchise with massive commercial potential. The series is at a record high in sales but that can very quickly drop if the story continues like this. Even if this arc is able to wrap up as properly as possible, if the next arc is the same, people will stop. People have already begun posting that they don't like where the series is going and saying they may stop or are going to stop buying the volumes after this Vol 15. The editor needs to see what went well and really capitalize as much as possible while slowly working on the weaknesses on the series. If not, this series will never get to that 1 million first printing that it had the potential to get to.
