Surprised over the mixed reception Golem Hearts is getting after years of people hyping the one-shot. I thought it was fine personally.

I still wouldn't go so far as to call them "friends" but Sasuke acknowledging Naruto's strength was a big first step in their relationships and then there's the battle with Haku where he told Naruto not to give up on his dream when he thought he was going to die. Its complicated since Kishi's writing was so shakey before it became downright shit in Part 2 so you'll have character doing shit that didn't make sense in order to move the plot and then retcon things that are hilarious in hindsight (Itachi before he became a good guy) so yeah maybe they were friends and not besties that Kishi kept pushing since the Retrieval arc.

Nah he hates him too, maybe not as much as Bakugou hates him but he doesn't go out of his way to try to be friends with him. Like if Bakugou actually turned to the dark side he would be more disappointed in him than crying and forgiving him like Naruto did.
The timing too since we were talking about one shots being better than the series itself. Oh well, we'll see

Yeah no bullshit on that, the journey was set up pretty well. That, the art, and the golem techs will carry the series on the early on but the heroine has to on point and useful. She was fine in the one shot and from the looks of it she was drawn better on the color page so that's one good thing so far. I got flashbacks to Demon Plan's heroine... she was too trash, too annoying, and just too random in the story.
Don't think it's the same person. She also looks like a grown woman

I don't think Deku hates anyone. At least anyone who isn't a villain.

Everyone always says that they hate Bakugou because he has no reason to be upset all the time and to treat Deku like that, but I appreciate the simplicity, instead of some silly jealousy or backstory. He's just a really aggressive dude with a inferior complex. Maybe thats just me though

@ChocoBar9 it was solid brah, I liked it but it had some unspectacular elements in it. Unfortunately I’ll admit Dr. Stone’s was better for a first chapter but this premise is way better and has more potential to something in tune with what I like. The characters are off to a good start but it was mainly fodder in the first chapter. The actual side cast gotta be good.

I didn't really feel much of anything while reading Golem Hearts. It was just okay. Serviceable. I wasn't a big fan of the one shot, so I'm not really surprised that I wasn't amazed by the first chapter either.

This aggressiveness actually comes out now in UA as opposed to back in middle school and before that. Before, everyone praised him and no one was on his level so he really wasn't made fun of and his ego was being boosted to no end. Deku also annoyed him but for the most part Deku also wasn't standing out as much. Besides the time when they were kids, they probably weren't constantly interacting unless Deku said something outrageous like aimimg for UA or the like. He wasn't actively bullying Deku all the time as Deku is also seen going around fine without getting picked on. Now, he's constantly being made fun of and is being shown how he's not as special as he thought he was. You then get the inferiority complex that follows that along with a temperament prone to snapping quickly always being there and now you've ended up with the unpleasant guy that is Bakugou. That along with Horikoshi liking characters like Bakugou because of how easily he can write them. I'd say he has more fun writing Bakugou than he does Deku, though he puts more of himself into Deku.

The characters in Golem Hearts are currently very thin. This will definitely be expanded on in future chapters but the guy whose daughter was kidnapped made a heel turn too quickly. One second he's out to get Noah, the next, "Please save my Daughter!". Even in pinch situations like that, someone that just lost their cargo because of the individual in person and is out to get them for that, they will not suddenly turn around that quickly. It usually takes more prodding and a begrudging plea for help, even if your daughter is on the line. You wouldn't trust the first individual that quickly and would rather do something about it by yourself. Having Noah come in and then convince him to leave it to him while struggling would have made for better characterization. It would have shown how he really wants to help others.

Didnt expect Golem Hearts to be so divisive, the very vocal crowd of enthusiasts were hyping it up as the best of the bunch.

I like Deku cause he’s forgettable and average which isn’t typical for the mc. I like Bakugo cause he sorta has this unusual anti-hero thought process but he’s a good guy at heart. Their rivalry is unusual too, I can’t say it’s as good as Naruto/Sasuke or Goku/Vegeta but it’s intgruing to follow along just because of their character types.

Like how Hori did this inferiority complex with two of my favs, Bakugo and Momo.

Don’t worry about it, for anything it doesn’t do it set the world up as soon as we saw the landscape of the island.

And that's most likely due to his love of Akira and how he based Bakugou on Tetsuo.

I personally am not too fond of the Naruto&Sasuke rivalry. It feels too one-sided especially after the time-skip as then Sasuke doesn't even have Naruto in his sights, only on Itachi. He then moves on to essentially becoming a pawn of Obito until he meets Edo-Itachi. He only regains interest in Naruto briefly after killing Danzo and during the war. Its Naruto that for the bulk of the series is constantly running after Sasuke. I can't really consider this a rivalry as that means that the two or more individuals are aware of the other and grow from the other existence. While that was true for Naruto, Sasuke grew due to other influences.

I'm personally more fond of Yugi and Kaiba's rivalry as that is more balanced. They're not friends in the traditional terms and they're also not enemies. If it comes to it, they will help each other out. They're also constantly in a horse race. Its not a healthy rivalry as Kaiba is rather obsessive of beating Yugi but at least it goes both ways.

I love the fact that Bakugou's parents are normal people. It's like Homer, Marge and Bart. XD

Yugioh is awesome, made quite a decent amount by selling my old yugioh cards. The prices sky-rocketed since the early 2000s and I was lucky to take good care of my old cards.

Yes, Yugi/Kaiba had a good rivalry, Not biased answer at all.

Kaiba is a great rival because his obsession pushes Yugi/Atem to his limits and its not based on fair sportsmanship, friendship or respecting one another but pure victory which by itself is rare since everyone has to friends by the end for whatever reason.

Ironically Kaiba did in a way become friends with Yugi towards the end. Kaiba was almost always doing everything with Yugi and even came to watch the final duel. However, its not overblown to the extent of Naruto and Sasuke.

Its interesting to see however that the biggest manga, OP and DB, didn't really introduce the so called main rivals until late into the story. Goku probably had other rivals but Vegeta isn't introduced until chapter 204, well into the story. OP doesn't even introduce any proper rival characters until Sabaody and even then there's not really a feel of rivalry.

Yugi and Kaiba was the best rivalry I've ever see, it is that good. The duels between those two remain epic now matter how many years have passed.

I planned not to trigger anybody with my opinions about TPN anymore, but this image... Man, Posuka Demizu could draw a series with more things like this...
let's suppose she draws more characters like this, so what? will this magically make the manga better?

you previously stated that your problem with the series has to do with the story and its pacing

this post implies your problem is actually "NO CUTE GIRLS BOOHOO"

This seems untrue and downplays the many times theyve had to tag duel for victory, yugi also respects seto and likewise.
