It kinda does, because things change and will be expanded if a series goes on longer than intended. Take for instance the fact that the
Shichibukai were not originally planned and Luffy was supposed to go straight for the Yonkou, but things changed, and now we have 7 Government Dogs running around, extending the length of the series per Oda's own words.
And, like Mantra, that one scene could have easily been folded into the concept of haki once Oda came up with it. There is no proof that Oda had an idea of Haki back then. It could just have easily been Oda using the killing intent trope.
And who knows what ways Oda would have had Luffy get around that handicap. The series made it a point to show that Smoker wouldn't go intangible if there was a strong gust, so maybe that would have played a role in the original story, if Luffy and Smoker were/are destined to fight that is.
Cool, so we agree that haki wasn't a sure thing at that point in the series right? That it's possible that Ace and BB were just throwing powerful attacks and BB was able to hit Ace because of his Fruit?
Most likely because it fit the narrative to have an island full of haki users exist right after it was introduced in the previous arc. I imagine that, if we were to go further back into Paradise, we'd inexplicably see more people using Haki who didn't have it before, like Enel (Armament in his case) or Zeff.
It is relevant. The Shichibukai are obviously supposed to be be top tier pirates and every New World Pirate worth a damn has shown to be capable of using Haki to some extent. We're talking about a dude who knows about Awakening and, most likely, will be revealed to have Awakened his fruit. As for why he never showcased it, it's most likely would have created a plot inconsistency. Why did he lose to Luffy if he had the use of Haki? Same with Moriah.
I doubt it's an issue of talent, otherwise the series is basically saying that Bellamy and Pekoms have more talent than Crocodile. I guarantee that the next time we see both Crocoboy and Moriah, they will be haki masters and use it like they've had it for decades.
Within the story, using hindsight, sure, but out of story, as it was being told in our world, there is no proof that that was the case.
