HxH is really great with its characters, world-building and themes. This and FMA are regarded as the best shonens out there.

Not yet. At first I thought „this is okayish“ and only slowly read a few chapters, but by chapter 15 or so I had to keep reading and reached chapter 38. Too many cliffhangers, had me stay up til 3am But it was somewhat easier to stop reading there and go to sleep.
I‘ll most likely have caught up in a few days.

My favorite character was Norman, and look at that he died.
What I really liked about this manga/arc is how extremely difficult and realistic their escape from the orphanage was. So much planning and preparation was needed, it was very much mindblowing watching it unfold. Even after death Norman‘s plans worked completely and watching everything fall apart in flames around Mama as she realizes she got rekt was amazing. Hopefully it‘s still great after this arc though, not sure what happens now.

Btw author is a huge fan of Araki and Urasawa, he s a mystery /thrillers lover.

I don't consider Hisoka to be a true villain Erin Chan. He is chaotic neutral.

Meruem is a great villain no doubt but not like Johan who brings chill across the spine.

Johan is more realistic.We can easily meet a person like Johan in real life but not Meruem. And that's what makes Johan great.He did not have any super powers to make people fear.

With TPN, BnHA, Dr. Stone, even Robot x Laserbeam (and One Piece ofc), I cant remember the last time there were so many WSJ series I eagerly followed at the same time.

And I’m not even reading Shokugeki no Souma which is supposedly really good too.

As for TG, I am catching up on it... little by little. At this rate I’ll be caught up in two years I guess. It’s good, it just never really caught me.
