So, is the Yearly Sales ranking coming today?
Yeah, time flies by in a pretty crazy way. I predict the sales have gone down this year as well overall, but I'm sure digital sales are growing a lot.

Some people are actually convinced that Kubo's one shot will be Bleach related. It's sad that some people can't move on.

Bring on the yearly manga sales btw. Really interested where BC ranks.

Are digital sales included in these figures, or are all of these daily/weekly/monthly/yearly sales figures just for print copies?

Only print sales, I guess I should've been more specific. We don't really ever get digital statistics, sadly, which is frustrating because the digital department is clearly growing a lot while print sales are going down yearly.

That's surprising. I'd say it's still important to have separate print and digital sales figures, but not making digital sales public seems like an odd move since it doesn't really print a full picture of how a series is doing. Hopefully that'll change at some point soon

Digital is most likely included when the publisher/magazine says how many copies are in circulation though and I think we've seen download numbers from the publisher for a series or two occasional stated.

I dont see why a publisher would share their digital download numbers to a third party group like the weekly oricon etc though.

Japan is a little bit slower at adapting things when it comes to distribution of media, the digital market has slowly been growing a lot in the last 5 years and because it's such a new market and because big retailers don't usually give away their sales numbers, we're screwed to never finding out unless it becomes an official thing to do so. It's been a standard thing to have print manga sales numbers get released/estimated for a long time. I've been seeing a lot more announcements of this kind though lately: This series has 1.2 million copies in circulation (including digital sales).

Not to mention that Jump's Top brass has straight up said that Digital sales of Jump magazine are increasing as print sales go down, offsetting the latter and allowing them to break even. And they still won't release digital tankobon numbers!!

Well it's not standard practice in most industries these days to release public sales/print numbers so ubiquitously, so in that sense manga market is already more transparent than most. There are also pretty bad precedents when certain markets got too caught up with using these sorts of print/sale numbers for marketing purposes.

I always thought that them revealing vague statistics like "increased by 50%!" instead of flat numbers pretty much means the numbers aren't substantial enough to release publicly.

Shouldn't it be easier to track digital sales?

Star Wars? Interesting. Given the amount of Star Wars references in the original manga it seems like a better fit than most. Though realistically it will probably be costume switch for either the Star Wars/MHA cast, I'm looking forward to it.

Regarding the PS4/Switch game its nice to see that MHA will get a game with good production values at the very least as opposed to the shovelware 3ds game. Though I'd be even happier if the game it got could stand on its own merits and not just rely on the license alone to keep it afloat.

- Hope for an instant that maybe, just maybe Kentaro Yabuki will make something more towards Black Cat than To Love Ru.
- Discard the idea right after that.

To Love Ru 3 coming.
