That's how bad HxH 2011 started but people still recommend it over the superior 1999 version which adapted the manga perfectly.

The meeting between Gon and Kite is the only thing skipped in the 2011 anime and they show it in a flashback later. That's it. Everything else is significantly better than the 1999 anime, which had a ridiculous amount of (boring) filler at the beginning of the anime.

It was done terribly in 2011 version. Gon apparently forgot how the guy, who was like a father figure to him, looked like?

Funny because all of those fillers, which fleshed out the characters, is what made the beginning of the series bearable. If I wanted someone to watch HxH 2011, I'd never recommend it based on the first 15 episodes because they're boring as hell.[/QUOTE]

only that there is a big difference between selling 200k in 4 months and selling 200k in 7 days.

I prefer HxH 2011 over 1999 version (though i like them both) but cutting Kaito from the start was really a bad decision, not just they cut the flashback when he appeared but also when Gon mentioned him to Killua when they first met and talked about their motive to become hunters and when he mentioned him to Satotz at the end of Hunter exam, this is why when i recommend someone to watch HxH i tell him to read the first chapter or watch 1999's first episode then start with 2011 version.

HxH '99 is a visual masterpiece. So much better than the 2011 one in that regard.

Its was known since the beginning of 2011's HxH that it would adapt Chimera Ants? If not, it makes sense to skip all the Kite stuff, since he only appears on that arc.

In other news (well, it's more Jump SQ news than WSJ but it's relevant enough) Jump SQ Crown is changing it's name. Makes me wonder how long it'll be before Jump Next gets a new name change.

OK so Toei are no longer busy with DB Super, but now they'll take on a new Kitaro anime which will most likely have at least 50 episodes. If Toei also do HZ then other WSJ things will likely be safe from them. I still hope they don't do HZ, let's see what happens.
