Does editor change ever lead to negative results?
Not alwaysDoes editor change ever lead to negative results?
Last time you weren't happy with Posuka's art for the color page and now you aren't happy with the writing, interesting. What is this spirit you talk of, what exactly do you want to see, I'm curious xD.Man, I wish Neverland's writing had the same spirit as the illustrations.
That's a big change. A new perspective can help the author to better explore the potential of the series. But I think Monji was with Horikoshi since before MHA, which means they already had an established bond and now a new bond needs to be built, which is not always easy.
This reminds me of Torishima, who assisted Toriyama since before Dr. Slump and left when Piccolo appeared. Throughout the manga we can see that the editor change influenced the tone of the series. With Torishima, everything was more cartoonish. Kondo was rigid, with him everything became more serious but the popularity increased a lot. With Takeda (Buu Saga), everything became a mess, but the comedy came back.
That's an interesting way to look at it. I like how the two tones mesh, it creates a pretty unique and refreshing experience. The art is more fantasy book-like and whimsical while the writing is colder and a bit more detached, I'd say. I really like it but I think that's what he could mean.
Posuka creates great compositions, but that sequence was weak in this regard. The new one is better. Her art makes it seem like I am facing a story of horror and mystery, the writing, on the other hand, is too analytical.Last time you weren't happy with Posuka's art for the color page and now you aren't happy with the writing, interesting. It is an interesting mesh though. Both Posuka and Shirai are pretty inexperienced in the manga world, so they have a lot to learn, I'm sure they'll be able to improve and resonate even more as more time passes by.Posuka creates great compositions, but that sequence was weak in this regard. Oh, now I've seen nonowa's comment.--- Double Post Merged, , Original Post Date: ---
"Shinsengumi on episode 346 airing February 4th."
Monji was with him since the start of Heroaca but Koike helped him actually set everything up for the start. Even in this comment, Horikoshi says "Thanks for the last 3 years" so Monji was with him since the release of Volume 1. Now with this change, we have a rookie editor who has only worked on a gag manga and some other manga from Saikyo Jump working on a traditional Battle shounen that is one of the current pillars of the magazine. It will be interesting to see what direction the series will change in, if there is any. The gags might be funnier and more well done but its the serious arcs that really need attention. Monji was unable to fully bring out Horikoshi's strengths in the intern arc. We'll see if Yoritomi is able to do so though this is an Oda situation where the editor is much younger and inexperienced compared to the mangaka. That's a big change. Horikoshi's only 31 years old, if I recall. His new editor's only a year above me, 28. So there's not that big of an age gap. But I do agree that as far his resume goes, he's definitely very inexperienced.Monji was with him since the start of Heroaca but Koike helped him actually set everything up for the start. The first sentence is Jump ironclad tradition. It must work since Jump produced hit left and right right?H
I have a question for you guys: Do you all think it's wise to pair an inexperienced editor with a big name and vice versa? I can see Jump's logic for giving these inexperienced staff members a chance to work with experienced authors, but most of the time, from what I see is that it tends to make the stories suffer somewhat. What do you think?

The problem with that is that you have an editor that has rather set in their "theories". They will use their past experience in how certain developments did for certain series and may suggest similar events in this manga to either increase popularity or as just a direction for the series to go in. For experienced mangaka, its critical that they constantly get fresh opinions so that they can keep coming up with new developments that are exciting. Sure you might have a great story when you pair experienced editors and mangaka together but you can't rule out that it will become stale. Nakano also said that many editors in the department are young to make sure that the magazine itself is in line with what current young people want. No, but if you pair an equally experienced editor with an experienced mangaka, wouldn't we see more consistency on the story's quality?
