When has the magazine ever been not competitive? Its simply a matter of making their story standout among the lineup. If they do a series in a genre that overlaps with an existing series, they simply have to write such that readers will vote for their series instead. Jump readers are fickle. Sure there are readers that will vote only for certain series but there are just as many that will vote for newer series as evidenced with Stone. Whether the "Super Push" is in effect or not, its been stated by the editors that its popular with the younger readers and thus probably is a factor for it to be placed in the front. Jump has always been a cutthroat environment and I'd argue that its actually less than what it was in the 80s and 90s and even 00s. Its by surviving that literal hell that mangaka succeed.

Also while I also want Soma to just end, I don't think they'll let it end anytime soon. Its probably got at least until the end of next year, both from an editorial standpoint and story standpoint. I want to see how the writer duo is able to work the point of this saga into a bigger story than just "we wanted to shake up the Elite 10 and give Erina and Soma some development". Jump has only just begun to get big sellers again. None of the remainders from the 6in last year sell enough yet to think that they will close that void. Once one of those series grows to certain level, I'd think there will be more breathing room to cut bigger sellers.
I wonder which manga from the 6 batch will grow the most.

Based on what lol. Some of us truly love to act like we're know it alls.
And based on what you say this:
Jujutsu Kaisen will probably have a middleish ranking until Act Age and Bozebeats are canceled then it'll be at the bottom.
If you don't like other people opinion, ignore them.

Seeing all these amazing reviews of God of War, do you all think that we are going to see someday a Jump manga about a father and son and the relationship between them?

does that count as a great father and son relationship manga?

Hopes for the new serialization round?
Been following way too much Danganronpa over the last month so gonna speak into existence a series that makes the reader feel despair just so hope can be sought through. Ziga would be a good candidate for me if the EiC wasn't going to cancel it like everything else has since Golf.

Do you think if Black Clover started 1999 and Naruto in 2015, the same premise, same anime, everything the exact same way it has been presented so far, would Naruto receive the same criticism from western fans?

One of my great sadnesses is that, despite liking the manga, Kimetsu's focus is not Tanjirou's relationship with his sister. When it started I really thought it would be about their journey, and only them. He taking care of her and going after a cure.

Yes.
I've long been of the opinion that Naruto is trash unless viewed with nostalgia goggles.
However arcs like the Chuunin exam (even if just lifted from HxH among a litany of other things) and the Sasuke rival among other things clearly have influenced a lot of mangaka thus has a permanent mark and influence in manga and even fiction in general.

So Naruto today probably wouldn't be Naruto.

What stood out about Black Clover at the time?
So, I've just reread the first chapter of Black Clover to find out what exactly drew me to the manga three years ago.
I'm still following it, however I've become more critical towards it over the years. So I can understand both sides, the ones who really love it and the ones who dropped it, to some extent. Although I'm more leaning towards the latter in recent months.

After rereading, despite not enjoying the content that much, sth about it draws me in, similar to lots of other Shounen Jump manga that managed to succeed.

I have the feeling like all Shounen Jump manga that managed to succeed, at least the ones I've read so far, have sth in common. I have no idea what though. I can only guess that it's probably a feature that is hard to miss, yet many readers subconciously notice it. I might be completely wrong with that theory, but every WSJ manga that ended up getting popular gave me a really similar feeling.

Until recently, I just always thought this feeling is enjoyment. But ever since Act-Age, I've been wondering why I enjoyed it, yet it couldn't give me the same feeling that other Jump manga gave me. Then after rereading Ziga yesterday, I came up with the thought that maybe Act-Age is lacking sth that the other manga have.

I didn't enjoy Ziga that much the first time I read it, but the second time I noticed more stuff and enjoyed it a little. But similar to Act-Age, it couldn't give me that same feeling. Similar to Act-Age, I feel like sth important is missing.

So the reason what might make certain manga stand out is because they share a common trait or feature that all successfull manga had as well. My guess is that it could have sth to do with the panelling or the way the characters are written (doesn't imply that the characters itself are similar). Or what's probably more likely, it might be a combination of several small features.

I feel like this is why Black Clover managed to hook many people. As stated above, I can be completely wrong with that assumption. But to me it would explain why most new manga feel like they're missing sth important, yet one of the most generic manga was able to somehow draw me in.

Absolutely not. Black Clover isnt hated because its similar to Naruto, its hated because its uninspiring and everything else it does just falls flat and lacks energy and passion. Naruto is the complete opposite

Black Clover certainly doesn't lack energy and passion, the manga is pretty much nothing but high energy excitement. You'd be pretty hard-pressed to find a manga with less of a sense of energy to it than Black Clover ('s manga, the anime not so much).

It's literally just fight after fight after fight. Never any time to breath or set up interesting stuff because of the pacing. Barely any substance, interesting plot points, characters or development. Its like Tabata realized he cant tell a coherent story. But im not knocking your enjoyment.

That's exactly why Black Clover's got a lot of energy, it speeds quickly from battle to battle never getting too bogged down by any one thing and stays in the fast lane. A battle shounen being about battles really isn't all that strange.

I know people like to treat Black Clover as a flop that has never had any good points ever but it's certainly not lacking energy. The constant sense of energy to it is the whole reason it's still around, every chapter has something crazy happening.

Manga sales > 350K a volume. People consider it a flop.

Stop.

I'm not sure we understand each other, I wouldn't consider that necessarily energy. The type of energy im talking about is the characterization and development of Naruto and Iruka in chapter 1. The worldbuilding regards to how ninjas operate, the themes and morals explored in The Land of Waves arc, stuff like that. Not constant fights between quirky characters that barely have any type of decent characterisation.

In a way, that is a "problem" of several current manga. Neverland and Stone, for example, are also action and action all the time. The 90's gen is very different from the 2010's gen. And Jump knows that. So, if Naruto started now, it would probably also be action, action and action. If Black Clover came out in 1999, it would probably have more breaths.
