Hopes for the new serialization round?
I'm kind of hoping none of my heavy hopes come round again (Moue, Iwashiro, Utsumi, Shiibashi, the oneshot with the curly hair kid) with how competitive the magazine is right now. Let them come around when Gintama and Shokugeki no Soma end.

I wouldn't mind seeing Miki getting another shot. He was really hyped up prior to Roggy's serialization and then that tanked hard, then he had a miniseries in Jump Giga in 2016 and nothing since.

Takujou no Ageha was cool. Wouldn't mind seeing Furuya return either. Last thing he did was a oneshot in 2016.

Is iShoujo+ still running? If not, definitely bring back Takayama.

What the hell ever happened to Daijirou Nonoue?

Oh Great is always good, he really knows how to draw characters. Biorg Trinity and Air Gear were some of the best works (especially air gear). my holy trinity Ikki, Shark, Kazu were some of the best characters in manga period.

For next serialization, the 2017 GFC winner should already do his debut.

Also, Shonen Jump really needs a new comedy in its lineup.

All the three new series (Zigaa, Jujutsu, Noah) look like they will get axed to me.Maybe Noah will survive a little longer.
Still better than being +100 chapter with mediocre sales, because the author can try again sooner.

Fushimi still work as an assistant for Hori according to the latest volume

it ended, the author had a pretty "unique" oneshot last week, if it becomes a series it will be on Jump Plus where it belongs

speaking of a new serialization round, eic already said Shindou Masaoki (who won last year GFC) along with Kawasaki (who won the 94th Tezuka special award) were going to get a series in the future

I think Nisio Isin is preparing for a new series too, he did 3 oneshots lately, the one with Kawashita was pretty much a finished story, however the 2 he did with Yuuji Iwasaki ended with a cliffhanger leading to a new arc so I wouldn't be surprised if one of these two become a series

Ryohgo Narita needs to come back with a masterpiece with Jump. Stealth Symphony was revolutionary.

I think he means the Akaboshi, Over Time and Stealth Symphony one

Ana no Mujina went on hiatus ages ago

he released a oneshot called Animored last year which they teased it will continue but never did

he stopped posting on his twitter too, don't know what happened to him

Hopes for a new serialization round? Something that stays around for a long time, that would be nice, it's been a while.

Looking back at my expectations for 2018, from WSJ, I still wish for these things to happen.

"-I want to see at least two new manga survive the whole year and move on to 2019."
Please happen. Even if I don't like whatever manages to make it, I just want some freshness in the lineup again. I think the current lineup is solid, but something new and exciting would be great.

"-I want to see one veteran mangaka make a very kick-ass and memorable new manga in 2018."
Maybe this is where the Minecraft manga comes in? Or maybe we'll get something crazy from Nisio Isin, if Mammo ends up being right.

Hopefully, and there is also Kishimoto's new serialization, which is supposedly coming this year.

no guarantee its gonna be in WSJ tho. More than likely gonna be in Jump plus
Or it could be a seinen manga, maybe he wants to try something slightly different, he could go to Young Jump. I don't know if it will be in Jump plus, but he might try making a monthly, bi-weekly manga instead so until it's officially announced, there are plenty of options.

When has the magazine ever been not competitive? Its simply a matter of making their story standout among the lineup. If they do a series in a genre that overlaps with an existing series, they simply have to write such that readers will vote for their series instead. Jump readers are fickle. Sure there are readers that will vote only for certain series but there are just as many that will vote for newer series as evidenced with Stone. Whether the "Super Push" is in effect or not, its been stated by the editors that its popular with the younger readers and thus probably is a factor for it to be placed in the front. Jump has always been a cutthroat environment and I'd argue that its actually less than what it was in the 80s and 90s and even 00s. Its by surviving that literal hell that mangaka succeed.

Also while I also want Soma to just end, I don't think they'll let it end anytime soon. Its probably got at least until the end of next year, both from an editorial standpoint and story standpoint. I want to see how the writer duo is able to work the point of this saga into a bigger story than just "we wanted to shake up the Elite 10 and give Erina and Soma some development". Jump has only just begun to get big sellers again. None of the remainders from the 6in last year sell enough yet to think that they will close that void. Once one of those series grows to certain level, I'd think there will be more breathing room to cut bigger sellers.
