It would be better if we got a hold of the digital sales so we can see how big Soma's sales have dropped.

Anyway, those spoilers are garbage. I'm going to wait to see if it actually happens but wow some fans are really defending the spoilers and justifying the rushing by pointing at a early one shot of SnS? Wtf LOL. Tbf, I am glad most people are seeing that Shokugeki isn't a great series at all, I was worried it won't get criticized because of it's pretty art and stupid gimmicks (fanservice/"foodgasms"). If any other shonen pulled this level of writing it would get shitted on so hard.

I did say SnS will end soon not that long ago too and hardcore fans telling me that there will be a international saga lmao. SnS is really the worst food manga I've ever read, there's no defending this series at this point. It needs to get bagged.

Sales of almost all manga have dropped ... only Tokyo Ghoul, SNK and some new entries are positive in this regard.

Only that Toriko lasted 8 years.

In addition to Gintama at the beginning of the year it was declared that it would enter the climax, but it still continues. Until I see the announcement, I doubt it will end soon.

Toriko & Gintama shouldn't be compared to a series like Shokugeki...SnS has reached below pre-anime sales and should be ending very soon. I think Toriko was falling close to pre-anime sales with it's final volumes. That's not a good sign at all.

Gintama is a legendary series so you definitely can't compare that to SnS. They are light years apart in popularity/success so the treatment will obviously be different.

This is the same manga that had freakin' tentacle rape in its first chapter, and that alone should tell you about the writing quality. Personally, even the character writing is as stale as freakin' cardboard. People like to rag on BC's writing, but I think SnS is pretty much on the same level.

As someone else here said, BC's characters are just the tropes in illustrated form, it's the same deal with SnS, imo.

The series was actually good in the beginning. Putting aside the foodgasms, the writing was simple but it was effective as a sports series where two characters face off in a cooking battle. Sure it got predictable but that hardly matters as long as the execution is good. The Autumn Elections were the peak of the story. Characters lost in reasonable ways and no one was nerfed. Then the whole thing went to hell with the Central saga, which was fine in the beginning.

People do rag on BC however, honestly, up to the point I read BC before stopping, the story was at the least true to its premise. Sure, there were moments like the LN characters being dropped into the story without prior buildup and the Witch forest arc having some questionable events and Asta was also starting to get that Shounen MC praise that a lot of them get quite a bit, but its nothing comparable to Soma in the RDC. He won a bout because his opponent didn't take room temperature into account, despite the subject of the bout being her specialty and something she's had drilled into her since infancy. Then a "too tired to have another match right away" reason was introduced and was never brought up again after.

These spoilers need scan confirmation but until then I'll hold off saying much.

SnS and BC have similar writing quality, but I like Souma as a main character a lot more than Asta. Also, while the premise of the shokugekis and foodgasms were borderline ridiculous, it was at least creative.

Autumn Election was definitely the peak but compared to other shonen peaks, it's not even in the same league.

There is a chance this 5ch spoilers are fake so it is best to wait.

The manga begins in 2012, just go back and look at the line up for a second. Then look at the line up in 2013 to see anything changes. If it's craps from the beginning then it would have go bye bye.

So it touches on a niche genre (ecchi), it's a niche series that sell 300k physical before the anime. 300k is pretty good for a "niche" series if you ask me. If it is niche then you can't compare it to other shounen that isn't niche, especially compare it with a battle shonen.

^ Before yall starts attacking me, note in this post i do not mention about the current state of Soma/spoiler. I just state some logic. Plus i already knew from the beginning that the Central Saga will be boo boo, no one believes me.


Also this is normal, boo boo long running manga go bye bye. It happens at least once a year.

FIRSTLY, don't compare Soma to Gintama because Soma will not be remembered anywhere close to as much as Gintama will be.

Not exaggerated, Soma has totally sold 14,000,000 copies.

I never thought about it before but damn, I want it. The second option but like To Love Ru, of course. It's the most suited for his art after all.

Shokugeki was very popular and succesfull until end of the festival arc (the duel against Kuga chinese shop).

Then Azami happened and Shokugeki flopped really hard.

If Shokugeki (and Gintama) end soon, without counting HiatusxHiatus and World Trigger, Hero Academia would become the third Shonen Jump oldest title in the magazine. Seems like yesterday when it started and it still looks too young to me lol
