It's pretty disgusting, but also unsurprising. What's funny about it is seeing the people trying to defend it on Twitter.

Dragonball fans have of habit of defending anything the series regurgitates. At least Toyo has good taste in comic artists he copies from.

Saw some people try to compare it to Horikoshi's comicbook homages, in order to defend it. Lol.

They're also comparing to Araki's Jojo covers despite the fact he specifically stated that they're all homages.

If it's covering NARUTO for that year its probably includes the games and other merchandise that was released under the brand name since BORUTO didnt start until April and everything that was released under the BORUTO brand was still under NARUTO until the first novel later that year.

because the date is from march 2017 to march 2018, Naruto Shippuden ended on March 2017, there must be a lot of DVD sold after that time period

Dvds have such a little affect on profits from mainstream anime, they don't really sell and you can clearly see that in sales charts. Boruto is selling in average 320 copies while non-mainstream (late night) successful anime sells more than 3K to get a good profit. TV Tokyo shows gets most of the profit from rating, rating sell commercial, commercial brings profit. Merchandise and selling rights are also a good way of profit and most likely why Naruto is in the first place, every official licensed product of Naruto, TV Tokyo has royalties from it.

Toyotaro is a hack. His art is already stiff as fuck, his panelwork and pacing is a wreck compared to Toriyama and even in general.
He doesn't deserve a career. He's only famous because he took advantage of a meme with his spare time.
