Got 39th, so it actually charted this time, which is quite a large improvement. Judging by the cutoffs, it did 15-20k. For comparison, its first volume was 77th on its first week.

It was probably a mix of both. Horikoshi has been retweeting stuff like the PV whenever he can though he hasn't done so for the second volume yet. I think other mangaka like Murata also promoted the series. This with word of mouth probably helped it rank in.

On another note, Heroaca's backlog sales are hurting a little from low stock. I wonder why they decided to reprint 1-13 on June 22, almost a week after the climax of the first cour. Volume 11 is supposedly a hot item but its sold out everywhere. I've see tweets and listings of Volume 18 also sold out or no stock. Honto finally got stock but it takes 7-21 days to deliver as opposed to the regular 24 hrs for everything else. The big stores have stock but the places farther out have no stock.

Kids dont stay kids forever, the people who helped it grow all aged to a different demograhic.

I guess they could grow the number of kids by trying to grow popularity in one piece, but how do you get people to start at chp1 ep1? I guess they did manage to get one piece on netflix jpn recently? (or has that yet to debut on the service?) so they arent necessarily incompetant.

To compete with youtubers, they need to find jpn personalities to try to make some type of viral popular one piece content.
