That's the thing, most people really don't care about typesetting or good redrawing and such very much. Remember Panda with their massive intrusive watermarks and awful translations were one of the biggest groups for ages until their early leaker sources got arrested, and MS is still the biggest despite having borderline rewrites sometimes with their speed stuff. Now obviously those are extreme examples but still, it shouldn't come as much of a surprise.

Your speed stuff's way better than that obviously but when it's a choice between being caught up getting weekly chapters with good enough typesetting/etc or having very high quality stuff but being 30 chapters behind and growing getting just a chapter or two a month, it shouldn't come as much of a surprise that the former is most people's choice.

Remember most of the people reading fanscans of stuff like this do it because it's their only option, we're not exactly getting high quality volume releases by viz or whoever here (I personally can read the raws but I'm still slow at reading japanese so I prefer translations if possible). The fact that a translation exists at all is what people care about rather than being too bothered about high quality stuff.

I understand from a scan perspective you want to do the series justice and give out the best product possible but, from the reader's perspective, being half a year behind and falling makes it hard to keep up faith since you never know if the groups really struggling with it and will decide it's too much work to continue, or if a critical member will get a new job and no longer have the time. And since the releases come out whenever they're ready rather than on a weekly schedule people will just not pay it much mind figuring the chapters just late until they forget about the series.
Honestly, people reminding you about this is pretty much the most demotivating thing possible when it comes to translating something (and the reason I've stopped translating multiple series).

It's unfortunate but it's just how a fan-driven industry goes. With professional stuff people expect something higher quality and are pretty annoyed when we get even medium-tier scan quality there since you're paying for it but those expectations are gone with fanscans since ultimately everyone knows it's just free chapters by fans doing it in their free time (many of whom are doing it mainly for Japanese practice or editing practice and so on).

Another big thing is that the bottom bar for fanscans is so incredibly low that you kind of learn to be satisfied with anything that's got proper grammar and decent image quality (and I imagine everyone's attempted to read an awful quality series at some point like old scan Jojo so everyone knows how much worse it could be).

I'm feeling pretty pumped for the upcoming new series. The character designs are pretty good, and the oneshot was very interesting. It reminded me of Runway de Waratte in WSM, which hasn't had a bad chapter or pacing issue yet. If this can mimic the feel and heart of that series, I'll be incredibly pleased.
Noah's Notes' and Act-Age's covers both look fantastic! I wish Noah's Notes could've focused more on exploration than fighting battles against an evil organization all the time. Watching the 2 of them travel all over the place and get into silly circumstances would've been much more enjoyable than fighting templars that pretty much seem non-human. Act-Age, on the other hand, has gotten even better as time went on and it introduced more characters.

Excellent and superb image quality, translated sound effects, natural flowing realistic english, and extensive editor/translation notes Trumps speedscans IMO. Not everyone is reading stuff immediately and its aggravating during catalog catching up or rereading series reading garbage quality or reading txt that sounds unnatural and unreal and awkward.

More power to those that uphold quality and integrity over site hits and winning the 1st to release race.

Hang in there. I believe in you.

While I agree with you we are in the minority. I've seen people who won't sub to Viz because it requires waiting a couple extra days despite the superior quality.

How long was Saiki's final arc anyway? A movie would be the obvious guess if it's not too massive.

I never thought the day that Hinomaru scans would reach manga raws would come. And it came.

Now is time for that day to come too for Act-tage.

I legitimately forgot it existed. EiC has some work to do.

Any bets on where it will place? Better than the Jump Rising trio?
