I do think initial print for Act Age must be really low, and the urgent print for it is 5k each, that’s why it keeps selling out :emocat
yeah its why reprints can be deceptive, though I guess they cant do too much or else theyll just be sitting on shelves and getting heavy discounts fast.

Sasuga Gintama, with the LA movie knocking it out, and the current anime season airing, the 5 chapters announcement seems fishy, no way in hell its getting cancelled, really wonder what the Gorilla has in store for the finale

Also, that’s the first time I’ve seen Hinomaru getting a reprint, quite a pleasant surprise right there, just hope the anime does its job

Gintama 2 - Box Office first weekend ( 3 three days ) :

8/17 - ¥279.9m
8/18 - ¥260.6m
8/19 - ¥266.9m

¥807 Million.

MONSTER !!!
Pretty good! But I doubt it can match Gintama 1 overall sales base on a lonely Monday sale for all movies. The first was released in the opening of summer vacation, while Gintama 2 was released on the dead end of Obon and summer vacation in general. Warner Bros really miscalculated the total failure of Bleach and decided to release it in the midst of a highly-competitive summer where one flop will cost a number of screens. Should Warner Bros interchange the release date of Gintama and Bleach, I think both will benefit if that scheduling happened. Gintama 2 can surpass it predecessor while maintaining the no of theaters high throughout the blockbuster summer like last year. Bleach can stay longer in theaters during a less competitive late August and attract random moviegoers after watching Gintama2, Code Blue, MIP (Since Bleach will have to rely more on the normal moviegoers than the actual Bleach fans). I think Bleach is even barely 500m yen in total as the curtains are going down for the movie.

There are bunch of notable movies in late August to early September, but many of them are just late night anime movies that won't even crack the bank.

with the GFC starting, there shouldn't be any new series until it's over

normally it will have 5 entries, which means it will end with Gintama and by that time, the magazine will have at least 2 open spaces (NN+Gintama) if not more

then we will have the new serialization round on WSJ #44 and logically that should be the last serialization round of 2018

which means that where we will get Kishi's new series unless they push its release yet another year

also, earlier this year the eic said in an interview that both Masaoki Shindou (last year GFC winner) and Kawasaki (last year Tezuka award winner) will get a series in the mag soon, the year is almost over and they didn't start a series yet, so keep an eye on them too

Some little evolution of total sold volumes:

Beginning of 2016
Haikyuu: 16k
My Hero Academia: 3,7k
Shokugeki: 8k
Black Clover: -

Beginning of 2017
Haikyuu: 22,4k
My Hero Academia: 7,5k
Shokugeki: 12,3k
Black Clover: 2,1k

Beginning of 2018
Haikyuu: 28k
My Hero Academia: 13k
Shokugeki: 14k
Black Clover: 4,8k

Just now
Haikyuu: 30k
My Hero Academia: 17k
Shokugeki: 15k
Black Clover: 6,5k

----
Haikyuu has been growing 6k for year
Hero Academia grown 4k between 2016 and 2017, now 5k between 2017 and 2018, looks is going to grown 6k from here to 2019
Shokugeki has just stagnated, from growing 4k to growing only 2k.
Black Clover is growing between 2,5 and 3k.

If trend continues, 2019 should begin with Haikyuu being in 32k and Hero Academia in 19k (or even 20k), then Shokugeki in 16k and Black Clover in 7,5-8k.

Heck, in long term is very possible for Haikyuu to hit 40k and Hero Academia 30k in 2020, while Shokugeki barely reaching 20k and Black Clover 10k

EDIT: For some reason, Video Girl Ai was like 5k in 2016 and 2017 and suddenly 15k in 2018

Who knows if Kishi's new series will even be in WSJ. They could end another thing or two and add 3-4 new serializations. We also still need to see the two remaining anniversary oneshots.

Still, how? It has grew freaking 10 million in only one year (while it had only sold 5 million in last 25 years), and while we have been seen Slam Dunk reprints in rankings, we haven't seen anything about Video Girl Ai.

Wondering if it has any chance to enter in 20k club, but I don't think so.

Interesting to note that Jujutsu ranked 287 this week, a month and a half after its release. As a comparison, WNL vol 7 which released at the same time was at 422, so Jujutsu's legs are proving to be quite amazing. It's also free on the Jump Book Store right now too. Will be very interesting to see how its second volume does since the first has sold quite a sizeable number by now.
