You a very anti gun person Panda? :hmm Letting everyone arm themselves including you vs being defenseless when you‘re in trouble. I‘ve heard enough of bad stories of robberies at home to know I‘d definitely want something to protect myself and family with :grumble
I don't think a gun is a solution to anything. It's a means, but to whose end? If everyone can carry a gun, that means that every goon or thug that you fear could now just hold you and your family at gunpoint. Not to mention, do you think you'd actually shoot? Do you honestly think that if your family chans had a gun, they would fire? You need better education and upbring for society and hope that a while from now people will be able to live in chill, but thinking that just because you can fire back, you now will and its k, is silly. Thinking that arming everyone to level the playing field when that means a statistical increase in deaths to keep that playing field even, is silly. We don't always have to reach for the most extreme solution just because it's the most simple and easy, imo

But isn‘t it you offering just 2 extreme solutions? :grumble Can make guns attainable legally under enough checks and training, rather than outright giving it like candy or prohibiting it fully. My father has his gun like that.

Wow :zomg you're almost finishing 1st season.

It get better later <_> but just saying recent arcs received some critics, and tell me what you think about characters. Like Rai, Franken and M-21, Shinwoo is a good character too and Ikhan is cool.
Well I love rai he may be my favorite character, I really love every moment he's in especially the moment where he looks serious, the moment is serious, but he just break the tension with wanting ramen noodles or getting amused by automatic doors or when he look so happy opening Franken door you just don't know if he well say sth serious or funny, but boi when he do say sth serious :nunogasm
I really like Franken, the relationship between him and his master and their trust, also I really like how his home is becoming refugee for new characters :XD and how much he hate it, and just wants peace, with a lot of cleaning and order
Poor M-21 I hope he achieve his goal and he will find happiness with rai and franken as man he needs it,to he's like an abused dog that trust no one because of his past but is really sweet and caring,I'm sure soon he will get attached to rai and franken
As for shinwoo and ikhan, yes they are really cool but I can't help but know that with time they will become less and less present in the story because they student and humans, and that kinda sadden me

But man the trio of rai franken and M-21 is rather great especially for my eyes :teehee

If a human has power of any kind, the potential for it to be abused exists, independent of checks, balances and regulation. Letting these click-n-kill machines into society won't do anything to repress criminality. The amount of deaths/year will simply go up.

Oh yeah my father had a licensed gun as well. I don't think a thug ever saw it, unlike us. I agree with Panda, people are overall too unsuitable to be bearing those, there are other ways to feel protected...

Sounds like a line from The Incredibles - but, in the example of physical objects (rather than descriptions), it's bullshit.

Also, the easier you make it for yourself to 'defend yourself', by making guns easier/legal to obtain, the easier you make it for the 'robber' to come armed with a gun.
Easier and more likely - if they think you may have a gun, they are more likely to come armed also.
And - they'll have the element of surprise - you will have to first find your gun, load it (unless you keep it loaded), etc.

'Defence' is really a rather poor argument for gun ownership - much weaker, in my mind, than 'I like guns' (which really isn't a great argument for gun ownership).

That's just surface level reasoning, anyhow. Think of a simple, technical issue in terms of legality; I think in most cases/countries, for self defense to be legal, there needs to be a degree of proportionality of your act compared to the incoming attack. That's to say, if you're punched and you then shoot back, is that okay? Will someone else judge for you if it's okay if you in that situation pressed your sa-yo-nara button? Because if you're being attacked, in the no gun situation, any kind of defense taken on can be more easily verified to be proportional or not. If someone charges at you, and you (accidentally) pierce of skewer them with something, you could draw reasonable conclusions there.

But what about panic enticed murder? How does that fit into self defence? If you panic and you don't have a gun, it's easier to calm down and gather yourself thatn if you panic and immediately go fuck it, it's me or them.

There are already stories of American cops shooting people of color for being shady. There are already children who shoot at schools because they're depressed. Guns are elegant and effective but not suitable for the masses to use. States have a monopoly on violence because otherwise people would use it much too easily to solve their problems.

If you say so :lambirb Guess we just disagree on that.

That's ignoring all the accidental cases of kids/adults shooting their parents/siblings/friends/themselves.

People flipping out and shooting people on the spur of the moment.

Accidents happen - fatal accidents happen more with guns around

I saw some small documentaries some time ago about the police force in Britain, and guns in general over there.

I think the way they go about it should be an example for the rest of the world.

To be honest, people, in general, are pretty stupid, reckless, and irresponsible.

I'm with Xad in the idea that 'trust' [in the case of owning an offensive weapon] isn't something which should be given out lightly

Guns exist for the simple ability to kill something that's alive. Maybe you can kill your assailant first, and call it 'defense'... But you're really just encouraging an expedited game of kill or get killed by saying 'be on edge, it could be over now'. Humans simply shouldn't need to a reason to fire those in the first place. But since we must, preferably only because 'you like guns' or 'the state needs them'.

People are simply too stupid to be given this responsibility. There are people my age getting pregnant, are you kidding me? They're considered fit to hold capitalism in its most condensed form? Aish..

In here the argument is that our levels of homicide are too high. They ignore the fact that the biggest numbers in those indexes come from poor black males, that are alrdy killed by the police or in favelas (cartel fights), which means they're alrdy killed by fireweapons lol... So idk how people bought it that introducing weapons to the population will help those numbers to lower...

I'm also pro for some laws that wouldn't allow people to have kids without going through a proper process first. :nod

Please. Real life isn‘t counter strike like you make it sound :lmao Shooters doing a 1v1. Most of the time it‘s enough to just be the first to point the gun at the other, and that‘s enough to intimidate and prevent anything bad from further happening. As police mostly doesn‘t shoot you at gunpoint unless you resist or do something stupid.

I do get how you think, but too extreme for my taste.

That‘d be great, but no way to properly restrict one of the easiest human acts in life.
