Next year TPN and Kingdom will fight for the 2nd spot. Kimetsu could be a dark horse depending on people's response to the first episode.

Btw, quite a drop in sales for TG:RE
Released only 3 volumes this year.

NOOOOO I wanted Slam Dunk to be in top 3. At least it outdid Hypekyuu!!!

Grats to MHA taking #2 spot.

Kingdom could be higher next year depending on how the live action does.

By the time the anime airs it'll have 15 volumes so it definitely has potential to get a big boost. Like you said it depends on people's response to the first episode.

Slam Dunk taking 4th place was such a powermove from Inoue. Finished over 20 years ago, rereleased in june and just 21k short of what AoT sold in 1 whole year.

people saying Haikyuu!! was falling and getting less popular are sweating bullets now
It is falling tho. Just compare individual volumes. Don't forget that HQ was a million seller. It sells 750-770k now. Last year it's peak volume sold 901k followed by 861k. This year, its peak volume sold 771k followed by 750k. You do the math.
Assuming it declines in the same manner, within a couple more years and it won't sell more than 650k a volume.

It's following almost the same downward trajectory that Bleach did except in Bleach's case there were big milestones in it's downward spiral with many considering Aizen's defeat being the end of the story, hence the big drop between the last volume of FKT arc and the first volume of FB arc. The downward trend HQ shows is the same trend Bleach showed from Fullbring arc to it's end.

And this is assuming HQ's story doesn't reach a point where it makes some readers think "yep, to me that was the end of the main story". Also, HQ can remain consistent by keeping it's story level up and especially if it gets another anime season. Loss of anime always leads to a downward spiral.

Is Slime good? I haven’t seen a Light Novel manga adaption in the 10 in a while unless I’m missing something
have you ever watch an isekai LN before? it's exactly that
>a loser in real life
>transport to a video game world
>have a broken ability that allow him to have every single super power he can think of
>every female in the cast is in love with him for no reason
>everyone love him and respect him
>defeats cartoonish one dimensional evil guys

Hero Academia and Neverland are the big winners of the year. Unfortunately Black Clover has been the big loser of the year: despite having anime, it has lost to Neverland and Slime, and has lost its best chance ever to be in top-10.

Let's see what happens next year. I doubt Slam Dunk will be in 2019 again, and maybe Dr.Stone can give some surprises.

Neverland was already famous and sold so much even before the anime.
Unfortunately, it has also affected the presence of the Slam DUnk reissue.

It only had 3 volumes out this year

I wonder how Hero Academia has managed the second place seeing how none of its volumes is in top-10.

HxH one volume left of entering the top-10 in the other way.

Also wondering if we can confirm finally that Hero Academia has more than 20 million sold copies.

Not yet unless you count digital

More or less it’s at ~19 million printed copies sold. Simple math

A strong backlog. The 4 volumes in the top 50 made up 3,077,303 of the 6,718,185. For comparison, the 3 AoT volumes in the top 50 made 4,071,280 of the total 5,235,963.

I think next year Hero Academia will sell slightly less and Promised Neverland will sell way more (potentially threatening Shingeki).

Black Clover is the big question for 2019. I don't see Slam Dunk repeating year. I also don't see Slime or Tokyo Ghoul:Re in 2019, so that's 3 slots open. But Black Clover big chance was this year. Maybe Elfed Arc will rise sales, but dunno. Also, Eden Zero will be already on the rise.

Also, Kimetsu and Dr.Stone will be interesting to see too.

To give it a bit more context of how much which series really sold I calculated the backlog numbers for the Top 10 series.
Left are the total sales of all volumes, in the middle are the numbers for the volumes released between november 2017 to november 2018, and right are the backlog numbers.

8,113,317 - 7,211,110 = 902,207 One Piece
6,718,185 - 3,077,303 = 3,640,882 My Hero Academia
5,235,963 - 4,071,280 = 1,164,468 Attack on Titan
Slam Dunk empty, cause everything is backlog
5,030,624 - 4,213,684 = 816,940 Haikyuu!!
4,970,171 - 3,144,815 = 1,825,356 Kingdom
4,867,680 - 2,758,109 = 2,109,571 The Seven Deadly Sins
4,246,955 - 2,099,879 = 2,147,076 The Promised Neverland
3,460,066 - 1,466,159 = 1,993,907 Reincarnated As A Slime
3,267,843 - 2,282,897 = 984,946 Tokyo Ghoul:re

Its the movie boost, I hope some youtubers consider that MHA got a movie boost & that OP only had 3 volumes out before they start jumping to conclusions.

The yearly sales for MHA will definitely decline next year. It will be interesting to see if season 4 will give it a boost or will it start to decline in individual volume sales.
