roster composition and size complaints would be valid if this game were given a large budget and long dev times in the vein of Smash Ultimate etc, the lack of any type of regional dub and unique movesets should have clued people in on keeping expectations in check

If only 6 more is true that’s a terrible roster... This game really doesn’t have much going for it, does it? Gameplay doesn’t look much better than J Stars either tbh.

They seem to be almost entirely ignoring the Japanese side of things, which is just lost sales for them. With the current roster, they’d lose nothing by adding another 20 characters that aren’t known well out of Japan. I feel like this won’t sell well in Japan at all now, and relying entirely on the west for sales seems like an unecessary risk that might kill our chances for an actual good Jump game in the future.
Well regardless of not including the weirder Jump selection, i’d Imagine that DB, One Piece, and Naruto are the main selling points for most people, even in for Kids in Japan.

Shame the kiddos here seem too young to remember Jump Ultimate Stars (weird to think 2006 was 13 years ago)
56 playable characters (305 if counting support) with Smash Bros gameplay. The perfect Jump fighting game.

Quoted for truth. A healthy mix of classic and (at the time) modern series too! Namco Bandai woulda done well to follow Ganbarion’s example

I actually own both DS Stars games since 2010~, got all the guide books last year when I was in Japan.
It was published by Nintendo and not Bandai! Shigeru Miyamoto creator of Mario, Zelda etc. also helped with game design. Unlike J-stars and Jump Force, they had zero involvement with the anime studios, no voice acting, pure manga game, wide range of titles and characters.

When GanbariON started making One Piece Gigant Battle games, which is using improved engine from Ultimate Stars, it gave me a hope they'll develop new Jump game. Time passed, nothing, One Piece Super Grand Battle X improved the engine to 3D, just to give me new dreams of Jump games like that for 3DS. They are working now on One Piece World Seeker.

That's why they need a separated twitter account to Jump Force like the Japanese BandaiNamco page did, or every Japan based publisher doing. Too late for that anyway.

I'm happy that Dai is in the game. It's such a unique inclusion; like Ryo from City Hunter. I wish there were more of these. It's a real shame that the roster seems so top heavy. I understand that series like Dragon Ball, Naruto, and One Piece are huge, but I really wish the character slots were spread more evenly between series. J-Stars Victory Vs was not a good game, but I was at least totally behind the roster as it was much more fair to other series. And I liked the aesthetic in general compared to Jump Force. That's my opinion at least. Maybe this is just the result to trying to cater more towards a western audience.
Totally agree. J-Stars had a much better roster even if the game was bad. Jump Force had us surprised with City Hunter and DQ but that's it, beyond the cast being expected.

Still the best jump games. I really wanted a similar game these days but with new characters from new manga too. Best game with one of the best rosters. And the best part is that unlike the other crossovers, it was 100% manga focused, even with manga pages. I fucking loved when we reached the world and we saw many pages coming as introduction. That game definitely made me know and read many manga that I didn't know before.

Viz still hasn't posted any Act-Age or Jujutsu Kaisen chapters after 6 to fill the gap. I think the scan groups doing them dropped both series when Viz got them (which is weird since Jaimini doesn't seem to have an issue with other stuff Viz is doing) making it pointless to even switch to fan scans to get caught up...

Jujutsu chapters 32-39 were done by other group so all chapters are scanlated. Act-age I think has already all chapters scanlated too.

After reading this week chapters...Higuma smells to axe to me, like Ne0;lation. Chainsawman I think is going to be safe, is next issue the one where it gets ranked at least?

Also, Jujutsu:
Ey Mahito is back

This is Chapter 6 for Chainsawman, and the first ranking starts on the 8th chapter, so in 2 weeks I guess. Did ne0lation get any better? I heard they started doing an arc already.

I think Act-Age still has a couple chapters gap between where the fan scans end and the Viz ones start.

they said for those two they're just adding the chapters as the volumes release (both get volumes every 2 months with a batch just recently going up so the next should be in March). Act-Age and Jujutsu Kaisen they said they hoped to catch up quickly but they aren't doing much to accomplish that.

Act-age is still missing chapter 45. And 46 is now behind the paywall, which gives me a nice excuse to support Viz and manga authors.

After reading Chainsawman 6, Neo;lation 5 and Higuma 4, Here's my thoughts.

Chainsawman - As interesting as ever. Plays with expectations well. Characters are a good balance of subdued and over-the-top. Really fun visually to read, dialogue is fun too. Feels original.

Neo;lation - Dunno why but it feels more interesting. Maybe because an arc is starting to wrap up? The art is gorgeous as usual. The story is still a "show off a tech trick every chapter" kind of premise, and it kind of reminds me of Detective Conan in the sense that the "story" isn't necessarily the most important part. I wouldn't be mad if it stayed in Jump.

Higuma - Battle scenes are epic. I'm not sure if the author is purposely doing this, but the dialogue is so basic. "I'll hit you!" "But I can fly!" "I can do!" "No!" That's basically what the fight scene was like. At least the girl is getting powers and won't be useless. The premise is not well-defined so far compared to Jujutsu whose battle concepts were hammered out thoroughly by now and had an endgame set already. I feel the axe coming which is sad because the mangaka could probably succeed in other mags, I think Higuma is way better than Fire Force or Fairy Tail for example.

So, Oricon isn't going to share the top 50 best-selling series this year and just be with the top 10?

Are you from reddit with that same nick? I think I saw something similar there.
