In case someone here doesnt know, the Fantasies one shot from Osuga is out.

Is it actually saying final arc? I mean, Gotoge aint no trolling gorilla like Sorachi, but is it legitly saying that and climax or some other stuff? For anyone who reads it, does it look like KnY is entering endgame territory?
It's definitely in the end game. Right now the demon slayers are trying to kill the main antagonist while his underlings try to protect him and everybody gets their own 1v1 fight.

A successful manga, especially from Jump, usually lasts 3 to 4 years, maximum 5-6.

Already 7-8 years are an enormity for a medium shonen, and are only achieved by certain manga that remain very popular over time.

And let's forget the monsters like One Piece that exceed 10 years of duration XD

The problem is that people look too much at other manga by referring to One Piece or other Jump manga post 2000s, which is very wrong.
--- Double Post Merged, , Original Post Date: ---

How is 146+ chapters and 3+ years "short"? Death Note was shorter. YuYu Hakusho lasted for 175 chapters, a number that Kimetsu might still reach. Kimagure Orange Road lasted for 156 chapters, Kimetsu will easily reach that still. All very memorable titles in the Jump legacy.
(Just a few examples from the top of my head).
Not to mention the fact that they lasted 13, 18 and 19 volumes respectively, Kimetsu is 14 volumes ....

There might be a decent chance that we can see a full adaptation of this series too, assuming S1 does well.

I'd rather see a mangaka go out on their own terms rather than be swayed/forced to carry it on further. Plus we don't know how many chapters this final arc will be.
I think thats fine for short series, but once you have a 50+ chapter epic, you really need to continue it on until every plotpoint is concluded with epilogues, and every character has been fully developed. Else you feel like it ended too early and are left unfulfilled.

Money wise, it makes sense to continue on until youre forcefully removed. Why end your sole source of income early?

I always tought that gotouge view Kimetsu as a short story to learn how serialization works, but after it become popular the author extend it with the pillars.

Artistic integrity?
Come on Shark, you're not that dumb.

Theres several cases where we see writers continue stories endlessly (JK rowlings continues to expand HP with pointless arbitrary things that the fandom criticizes only so she can continue to earn money since her other writers are pretty, unremarkable). movies too, why make all these "universes" , its doubtful that the driving interest here is artistic integrity.

And for manga it makes sense to contninue, too often writers make one hit then fail to ever do anything of note afterwards.

I do not think that Kimetsu enter the final arc before the anime and with the sales that are growing.

Naruto's final arc lasted for God knows how long, Black Cat had a large final arc as well if I remember well. Nisekoi had a large wrap-up period arc with rejections and confessions too. "Final arc" usually is not short as some may think.

Juicy Bait. I'll bite.
Just because some continue to milk their series doesn't mean there is no such thing as artistic integrity for those who just want to end the series where they originally intended it to end. Like, what sort of comparison is that? There are so many musicians out there who just make regular mainstream music because it sells and they get money and then there are the few who just keep trying new things despite having a pre-existing sound that sold millions.

You might be surprised at this but hear me out, some people actually make any form of art because it's their passion and not for monetary reasons.

Irrelevant. Death note manga pretty much ended before the anime even began. Even if Kimetsu ends, people who watch the anime will still buy the manga volumes. The manga will still get it's extra sales. I'm sure it'll probably last long enough to be around when the first season ends.

Kimetsu looks like it'll be ~20 volume series. I think ending in ~50 or less chapters sounds appropriate. I think Kimetsu's longest arc so far was ~30 chapters iirc, which was the previous arc. Naruto's super long final arc was more of a final saga, the fourth shinobi war saga and it's not a fair comparison at all.

So many muscians are sell outs trading their passion the second they get a deal. The true ones doing it with a passion are the nightclub, garage band, live performers struggling for their gigs, and church choir singers, and the ones that actually compose their own music.

Death Note is a bit of a case on it's own.

Climax and the final part may have many interpretations when it comes to manga.

In my opinion it will take a while and if they see that the anime is doing good, they will still stretch it.

Death Note was an interesting case though. It could have been stretched out by starting it as episodic (similiar to early Luck Stealer chapters) then going full on plot, but that did not happen at all. Makes me value the mangakas a lot.
