Also on the note of Manga+, I hope they're planning to do catch up chapters for Summer Time Rendering or release digital volumes or something, I quite liked the intro parts but I'm not going to jump 30 chapters ahead.

Was the mangaka of this behind Hitomi no Catoplebas? I loved that manga, had a lot of potential that was squandered by an early axe.

Why'd you bold Jigokuraku? It sold more than 25k according to the threshold.

You didn't read the paragraph before the list. "Bolded are MangaPlus serialized manga and new ones." Jigokuraku fits that.

Hi, Im new here.

My list is:
Haikyuu/Hinomaru
WNL
Kimetsu
Black Clover
Chainsaw
TPN
David
Jujutsu
MHA
Saiyuuki
Higuma
Kamio Yui
Ne0;lation
Soma

I'm behind on Act-Age and Dr. Stone. Don't read the rest.

From the two new series I prefer Saiyuuki, which was somewhat interesting (+ for emotional impact). Kamio Yui's frist chapter didn't really do anything great, good or even cool, but it wasn't terrible, I guess.

Unfortunately, after World Trigger move to Jump SQ, there is only Black Clover I follow in WSJ. I had a chance to read two new series but they're decent to me.

I read both of the new series... Saiyuki was great, much better than the 3 last serialized manga... I'm sure it could become a success

The new shibashi's series was a bit boring... Illegal rare was so much better and I'm sad because it was dropped

Doesn't it rely a lot on knowledge of Japan too? You need to be able to understand gags for them to be funny in the first place
Yes, I read Japan every week, and i never find it funny, except surprisingly this week, it wasn't just local humor, this time they referenced Nintendo (without getting too much specific on the theme, like they always do with the prefectures) and a lot of people around the world can get behind videogame jokes.

Reading the last pages made me happy seeing I'm not the only one kinda tired of One Piece.
There are a lot of things happening in Wano, I can't even catch up with them all. and the art is more polluted than ever. I think this arc will be way better when I read the whole batch.

This is my ranking:
Saiyuki
One Piece (Reading but uninterested)
Heroaca (Reading but uninterested)
Kamio Yui
Kimetsu (On hold)
Neverland (On hold)
Dr.Stone (Dropped?)
Soma (Dropped)

Do we know what's going on with Rosario Vampire's Ikeda right now? R+V ended a good 5 years ago I think and all I know that he's done since then is a couple oneshots. I thought for sure he'd have had something new by now, at least on Jump+ if not this magazine or JQ.

He (along with Kosuke Masuda) released a horror manga oneshot in Jump Square in November 2018 called Shitabashiri. I guess he is waiting on whether Shueisha approves this for serialization? Oneshots if approved usually take about a year, so he may start at the end of 2019.

David Kun is dead, dead, dead, dead. Unless it gets an anime somehow or it moves to SJ+. These sales are horrific for WSJ standards and the fact it dropped in Volume 2 tells it has no potential to grow. Too bad as I like the manga, but it was rejected in Japan.
First of all, David-kun is a gag manga and afaik sales don't matter as much for a gag manga. Especially considering it's constantly switching last place with Jimoto and last place is usually reserved for gag manga. Idk the exact sales of other series that used to be a gag manga in last place, but I doubt they were that high.

Btw, Jimoto is selling even far worse than David-kun. While it is getting an anime, that's not because of popularity. We can assume both are competing with each other and I don't think just because Jimoto is getting an anime, it necessarily has the edge over David-kun. Because the anime is the only thing that speaks for Jimoto. It can just as well be moved to SJ+ or the manga can get cancelled and it continues as an original anime. I mean there isn't much for the anime to adapt anyways, so most of it will probably be original anyways.

The way I see it, David has the edge over Jimoto despite Jimoto receiving an anime. Also, Jimoto's concept from what I've heard is very limited because every chapter seems to be based on a prefecture in Japan. So once there aren't any prefectures left, the manga might be over. Iirc the mangaka even said he doesn't know what to do after he covered all prefectures.

A bit late (like anyone actually cares) but everything from february in one place

Thanks for the analysis! Chainsaw-man is bound to show up for Oricon, which is cool!
"Can David do anything?" If anything means doing worse than Volume 1 in sales, then yes!

The problem is exactly where I agree that I think 1 of the duo will stay at the place, other axe. I find it unlikely Shueisha would move Jimoto now when Volume 2 release is timed to with anime in Japan. David's problem is that it isn't gaining any traction and is dropping even. While I doubt Jimoto will have any boost at all, it doesn't stop Shueisha to think it may grow and just leave it at the last place.

And for Shueisha's sake, what stops them to launch another new gag manga here? From what I know Jaguar had good sales (no idea about Isobe Isobee).

david is a rhetorical question

and I'm more interested on CSM numbers for the following week, will it do a MHA/Yuuna? or will it do a Jujutsu (and to a lesser extent, Act-Age)?

side note: I published the post before the numbers were out, so other than david (which was obvious) I don't actually know what to expect (mostly) from those numbers

I also already made the weekly charts
