I think the trend of lots of new series being so fast paced was started by Black Clover. What do you think? I

Lol that bored huh?
Naw lol. I'm serious. I was reading Kenshin recently and I realized a lot of action battle manga up until the Haikyuu era have spent multiple chapters on 1 on 1 fights, like Naruto, or Toriko. Whereas Black Clover feels like the first manga to have a speedy pacing, and now we have Kimetsu, Chainsaw, Jujutsu, etc with breakneck pacing

I'm wondering if we're entering an era of fast paced manga (attention span dropping could be the reason why) and if so, do you think BC had a part to play in that as one of the first manga in recent memory with such a fast pace.

Define fast pace

Naruto starts the Zabuza arc starts at chapter 10 (~2nd arc, beginning of a big arc)
Puffer whale arc in Toriko starts at chapter 10 (ranging from chapter 8 to 18)
Audition arc that leads to Death Island in Act Age starts at chapter 7 (~2nd arc, ranging from 7 to 24)
The 2nd arc of TPN starts around chapter 10 to 37
Chapter 10 is the climax of the Power arc in Chainsaw man
Haikyuu chapter 10 is the beginning of the exhibition match
Chapter 10 of Food Wars is the start of the Don arc
Chapter 10 of One Piece is Buggy chapter (Which means Luffy already defeat Alvida + Captain Morgan)

The pace looks pretty normal? Around 7/8 approaching its 10th chapter is the 2nd arc

Saiyuki just happens to finish its introduction arc really quickly (finished by chapter 3, the friend chapter is on the 4th one)

So, looking at japanese wikipedia in the page of Kimetsu, Bokuben, Japan and I found the credits of the anime staff and in there with the production committee. The companies are ordered as always by funding

Bokuben:
Aniplex, Shueisha, ADK, BS11, Movic

Kimetsu no Yaiba:
Aniplex, Shueisha, ufotable

Jimoto ga Japan:
It's crediting 都道府拳部 which in google translate, translates to Tokyo Prefecture but I don't know if it's a good translation.

First of all you're wrong about TPN, how can anything but the entire Grace field arc be considered the first arc?

That aside, my definition is not in terms of arcs, its in terms of stories. Arguably stories like one piece and Kenshin could have their first 60 chapters condensed in 10 and the story wouldn't be too negatively impacted. That's how the "fast series" I mentioned feel like.

On a separate issue, instead of chapters of backstory and training, the fast-paced series usually only use a few panels or pages for that kind of thing.

That doesn't say Tokyo in it at all.

I'm starting to think most people here don't read many manga outside of Shonen Jump which might explain the high praise for Saiyuki. I pushed through and read it until the fifth chapter and the series feels pretty standard. All the praise made me think this was going to be something special but so far it doesn't have much making it stand out from the rest. Maybe it'll have a decent ranking who knows? Black Clover's first volume wasn't exactly great either.

Or people just have different opinions than you? I literally read tons of manga from all demographics and still find Saiyuki to be really good. Not sure why so many people on here have this elitist snobby mindset.

Ditto. I’ve been up to my eyes in all sorts of manga over the years and The Last Saiyuki still strikes me as really good. It’s different strokes for different folks, innit

Saiyuki is the best newcomer out of the 5 (Higuma, Chainsaw, Ne0 and Yui Kamio) in my opinion. The story so far is well written, go straight to the stoy and the art is great. I'm really waiting for the next chapters to see how it goes.
I can understand why some people are not really into the manga, as it is not a revolution in the manga sphere, but still the manga is great and as I said is better the the 4 other ones (Chainsawman is the second one for me).

I would rank the 5 newbies as
-The Last Saiyuki (decent read but not fantastic and nothing special. Main duo relationship is nicely shown and has a good balance of emotion, action, and comedy. Being very fast paced and having a good art helps)
-Chainsaw Man (the art and the chapters are too uneven for me to consider it first, but very entertaining and has an amazing MC. This seinen-like approach is refreshing in Jump)
-Gokutei Higuma (bland and mediocre, nobody besides Higuma himself is even remotely interesting)
-ne0lation (aka "too little too late" with the last chapters, solid concept and great art squandered in the majority of first 15 chapters)
-Kamio Yui wa Kami wo Yui (just no. Hiroshi Shibashi needs a bigger break imo, this is one of the worst veteran returns I have seen in Jump besides Kagamigami. Unfunny, boring, with poor characters and uninteresting concept that is too limited)

Okay I will at least admit that the only mangas I do read are Shonen Jump (and Ace of Diamond) as well as JUMP SQUARE mangas and then BL mangas and the occasional death game/trapped in a game manga.

I'm not saying it's bad.

I know you didn’t lol, my point is that insinuating that people who are praising the manga only read a handful of Jump series is not necessary.

Kamio Yui is so so bad. I keep reading because I really liked Nura and hope that Shiibashi will make it work someway, but each chapter makes me more hopeless.

I love how it was called as "supernatural battle manga" before Chapter 1 was out by Jump....neither happened lol. Which would be fine, if the romance or comedy bits were any good. While I was not much of a huge fan of early Rosario+Vampire chapters which were extremely episodic and repetitive (insert comedy early chapter, someone from the main harem gets in danger mid chapter, Tsukune somehow always manages to take the rosary off Moka, she transforms and beats the enemy, insert comedy at the end), they were still miles above this mess.

The only think I like about Kamio Yui is that it tries to be more slice of life than I expected, even if the plot itself is pretty bad.

Last chapter of Sayuki just prove that it's best new series since TpN. God characters interaction in here is perfect and Kahoru&Ryuu siblings relationship in 7 chapter is miles above than Nezuko&Tanjiro in chapter 150+. Every chapter is full of emotion and every character is engaging.

PS: it's my opinion so BACK OFF
