I hope they don't premiere like 6 new series all at once like they did with the WNL round. That's just a bit too intense for the new series since it'll be hard to for the new series to find a lot of fans like that. I'd say rounds of 2 or 3 are most effective

More like Invade You Two hahaha
Naw I hope they premiere a lot. The magazine feels so stale right now.

Fuck it let's do an ideal cancellation list. Pick a number from 6 to 10 and cancel those series or end them naturally within the next half year.

Being harsh af here, I actually like most of these. ideally these would be transferred to plus.

Futari no Taisei. Not invested yet
Yuragi. Don't feel too bad about this one
Boruto. Boring and stale
Japan. Boring
Saiyuki. Boring
Jujutsu. Basically a lesser chainsawman
Haikyuu. Stale
MHA. Stale
David. Going anyway
Hinomaru. Shift magazine

I would be so happy if this happened.

---

I should add btw this isn't even bait. being honest here, and curious what you guys would cut to get a more refreshing jump, neglecting all societal and business considerations

Uh...The series I'm referring to leaving in the next six months are Soma/Japan (whichever leaves second), Yui Kamio, Hinomaru, Yuuna, at least two of the current batch of manga (still think Taisei is a goner) and possibly all of the current batch sans Samurai 8 as well as Saiyuki, We Never Learn and Kimetsu. None of this is me wanting these series gone, just me applying logic.

You mean restricted to shonen, right?

I'm assuming you've never read 3-Gatsu no Lion.

Hyped af. Neo;lation 2 incoming

I meant in general. I didn't like Sangatsu, but the manga wasn't the problem as in itself it was great. It just didn't grasp my interest as I read it and I preferred to drop.

is already only because they have released 3 new manga along with the new samurai 8 kishimoto.
I don't really even include Samurai 8 solely because that series is basically guaranteed to have a permanent slot. At least the TOC isn't as volatile as it has been for the past half year as it has been for Weekly Young Jump.

If I had to pick that many to end:

1. Japan - Easily the first choice
2. Zumo - Should be able to conclude itself pretty soon
3. Soma - This needs to be put out to pasture or transferred to Jump+
4. Futari - Definitely premature, but I don't see this hooking me at all after that first chapter.
5. Jujutsu - Doesn't really interest me
6. Beast Children - Insanely premature, but since sports series basically never interest me, it'll free up a spot
7. Jujutsu - Can't dig the art

There's a lot more I'd end just since they don't really interest me, but any magazine that catered solely to my tastes would probably go bankrupt pretty quickly since I've come to terms with my trash taste lol

My cancellation list would be
1. Jimoto ga Japan, enough said.
2. Shokugeki no Soma, it had a good run. Let it rest in piece. Give the wonderful artist a new, much better work from writing's standpoint.
3. Kamio Yui wa Kami wo Yui. Hiroshi needs a chance to shine with a better manga on Jump+ or Square, but this ain't it.
4. Hinomaru Zumou, never read the manga (and I intend to catch up and have a huge respect to the serialization run it has) but it is the one that should have been gone long ago based on the sales.
5. Saigo no Saiyuuki, I feel bad for the mangaka (and I like his art) because this is his 2nd work in WSJ after Mutou Black, but wasted potential for me.
6. Leaving this place for something as I will wait on how Futari settles in Chapter 2 and other 2 newbies.

What a weird insensitive discussion considering how hard these mangaka work to provide chapters every week for its fans. Not liking something doesn’t mean it deserves cancellation. Imo Jump right now is as enjoyable and diverse as it’s ever been (need another gag series if David kicks the bucket unfortunately)

Exactly. And what I was talking about was series ending because they're either approaching their endpoints or lack of popularity, not some "I don't like it" bias.

Just checked: that first chapter of Double Taisei (besides the color page) had no double-page spreads. :biblethump

BTW, it's been five hours since the issue came out, and I still can't find a single tweet on Double Taisei on JP twitter.

I don't buy any "sensitivity" arguments. I'm not hurting anyone except possibly fans of those series who are butthurt over an internet stranger saying that I don't share their love.

---

Also how did I forget Shokugeki. Can that too

It's easy to use such an argument since you do not work from Monday to Sunday with only 3 hours of sleep and no rest to deliver an 18-page story weekly to please a particular audience and hope that it is at least satisfactory.

It's more in the sense that I felt it wasn't for me but I saw quality there. And yeah, I saw the anime too later on.

does that really apply to every single jump author or was that just the extreme case that everyone believes is how every manga author is?

applies to the newcomers, more established authors such as kishimoto, should have a softer life, but guys like Oda and Togashi have a very bad health because of mangaka's work.

That's not the point. I get that some mangaka work hard, but that doesn't mean I should censor myself. If we think even saying "I want to cancel this because it's bad" is "disrespectful", that is taking out a large slice of opinions we can make. We'd otherwise have to tiptoe around it like,

"In my opinion despite the hard work and efforts of this author I believe his manga has some artistic and literary deficiencies so that despite the time and dedication he has put into it I think it might not be the worst idea, both for readers, the magazine, and his potential growth in the future if we let his manga end early."

Instead of

"I don't like Shokugeki no Soma anymore, can we cancel it please"

Sensitivity is overrated.

That said, a certain person on this forum (not me ofc :3) could stand to use some more of it.

As I've pointed out, me saying "six to ten series will be ending in the next six months" is just me using my head, not my heart.

Eeh I think logic should also be used when deciding which series you think “should” be cancelled.

I think wanting Soma to be cancelled makes a bit of sense, since it had a good run, it’s sales are on the decline, and it’s quality has severely dropped. And this is an agreement among most the fanbase.

But something like MHA. Regardless of personal preference and how one feels about it’s current quality, it’s one of the magazine’s biggest sellers. It’s still widely beloved, and is the closest Jump has gotten to an international huge hit since Naruto, and Bleach in the mid 2000s.

Like, even if I wasn’t a fan of a series, if it’s doing THAT well, and is that beloved, I don’t think I’d put it on my “should be cancelled” lost
