Well, Sayuki, this pretty much sets your tombstone.
I'm so sad about this since I like the storytelling and it reminds me good old mangas where great things took time to happen.
The author should switch magazines, Jump is a waste for him.
What, are you one of those people who find current Jump "too fast"?

No. Jump has always been fast. That's the problem sometimes.
We usually get shallow stories since the authors don't have time to explain the world and adventure mangas are very affected by this.
Not that I think Jump should change, I just think Sayuki author would have a greater time in a slower paced magazine.

Seems like another bust round in Kamio Yui and Saiyuki as expected. No wonder why Yuuna, HZ and Souma are still on.
Let's hope this one will be better.

Bye David kun! Will miss this manga so much.

I have faith in Kamio.

But then again I also think U19 and Ziga, esp. U19 were really really good and thought they would stay. So...

U19 was hated in Japan from what I remember, but I did love the concept itself. Hopefully the mangaka returns, completely MIA since the axe.
Ziga was too slow to reveal the MC's twist. Should have happened in Chapter 2 to be honest.

The references are too hyper-specific IMO for a kid to understand (first chapter for example has jokes about Yamagata being known for growing cherries and the fact that it's the home prefecture of Togashi). Unless it's really hammered in from a young age, most kids I think are completely ignorant to the culture of anywhere outside of their home state/prefecture/wherever.
it's intended to be educational as well. The references aren't meant to be funny in a family guy sort of way and more magic school bus.
Terrible analogy, but the comedy isn't supposed to be the references. The comedy is supposed to be supporting the references.

Also, on the subject of what helped Saiki achieve success (compared to David) is Jump started by giving it basically a initial miniseries with one-shot chapters released on an irregular basis before it's full serialization debuted.
They kind of did the same thing with Isobe as well iirc.

U19 remains one of the worst things I have ever read, and I am entirely serious there.

...I guess? Though, in that case, I struggle to figure out what the joke even is.

Also, isn't putting a manga which only children would enjoy at the back of a magazine with the likes of Chainsaw Man kind of a terrible idea?

U19 is literally the Wasted Potential: The Manga. Fun fact, it was one I was hyped for in that round lol. Not the worst thing I read, but probably among the bottom things.

Comedy is not a one size fits all sort of deal. Remember the silly argument about vomit being funny in CM last week?

Gonna agree with everyone who says U19 was just straight-up bad. I once wrote a whole thing about its skin-deep lifting of YA dystopian fiction

Lost to the ages, sadly. Most of the old Friendship, Effort, Victory stuff got deleted a long time ago. I might have a draft of it on the desktop somewhere though, see if I can dig it out one day.

Love the Beast Children cover. The art went up a lot since the oneshot/miniseries back then.

First impression from cover, already positive.

It will be more of a story of the boy who loves a sport, but has difficulty in it because he is small.
will it be more of a haikyuu, ahiru in sora and hinomaru zumou again?
