I know, and I even agree, but there's an air of indecision.Pacing is all about balance, make sure plot points are properly established and allowed to sink in, without letting the story drag. It can be too fast or too slow, so it's perfectly valid to complain about either extreme.
Basically, the answer is making the pacing feel sufficiently fast early on while making the developments not too radical as to be confusing.I know, and I even agree, but there's an air of indecision.
Though, to be fair, the "Introduce a person extremely close to the protagonist just to kill them very early in the story as a shock to the audience and the character" is a very common and often highly acclaimed trope in sports manga.Taisei is getting complaints because Tai "dying" is a radical shift to the narrative which lacks any grounding, we can't morn the loss of him when we barely know him
Last time I checked, the brother in Touch didn't die in the second chapter.Though, to be fair, the "Introduce a person extremely close to the protagonist just to kill them very early in the story as a shock to the audience and the character" is a very common and often highly acclaimed trope in sports manga.
jump is not sunday, we know that in jump you have to sell the story in the first few chapters to get attention.Last time I checked, the brother in Touch didn't die in the second chapter.
WTF WHY DID YOU SPOIL THATLast time I checked, [I'm not gonna show it]

Killing off the character who was half the premise in the second chapter still feels too abrupt.jump is not sunday, we know that in jump you have to sell the story in the first few chapters to get attention.
...Dude, the manga is over 30 years old. Why are you getting so worked up about me giving mentioning the famous twist of one of the most legendary sport manga of all time.WTF WHY DID YOU SPOIL THAT
HOLY FUCK!!!
YOU'RE ACTUALLY INSUFFERABLE
Spoilers do not have any expiration date. You could post the last scene of Ashita no Joe here and it would be spoilery the same way to a lot of people even if is iconic.Killing off the character who was half the premise in the second chapter still feels too abrupt.

It doesn't matter how old or famous a piece of media is, a spoiler is still a spoiler, telling someone who has never seen a Star Wars movie how The Return of the Jedi ends is still a spoiler, they don't have a expiration date, and since i'm sure several people in this thread might have never read Touch, this is still something you should have covered with the spoiler mark...Dude, the manga is over 30 years old. It's a common mistake, but it's fine as long as you learn the lesson.Uh...sorry? I assumed it wasn't a big deal...
MangaPlus puts them up Monday (usually see them when tomorrow's stuff goes up so midnight Japan) and under the "featured" tab there's a picture of the magazine cover which has the author comments. Idk why they don't post them at the same time as the chapters.Where do you guys find the author comments on MangaPlus?
