Soma got a new season just last year and has the right number of chapters for a 2 cour season to finish adapting it to the end (sure it's a bit rushed pacing-wise but it's the same pacing as s2 and s3), getting a new final season really isn't a surprise at all.

It's different to something like Bleach where it had been a while since the last anime by the time it ended and would need a full year to adapt the rest of the manga at bare minimum.

Also pretty sure Bleach needs a much larger budget as opposed to whatever the budget for slideshow animations were for Soma.

they get so much hate they don't deserve because of OPM S2, which isn't even that bad, just meh in my opinion

I think there is not an exact definition of NTR. So, people use the word as they want.

That said, I've understood NTR is jusr the male MC have his love interest (she can be his girlfriend, but it isn't necessary) stolen by other guy in an ******. Right?

That is obvious. I am talking about the fact the WSJ Issue was already known at the moment as well. I think Souma ending was coming decided by then like Ctkk has said.

I was mostly joking. But Soma's last volume is going to come out when the anime starts, so there's not a lot to promote left after that, and the series has been going down hard in popularity, so it's hard to see why they'd spend resources in giving it an anime now of all times. Hypothetically speaking, I think a 'Bleach:Final Season' could have better ratings than it even after all this time and probably sell more merchandise and extra stuff. Just to be clear : No, I don't think it's gonna happen. It's just that not a lot of people thought Soma was gonna happen either so maybe more dumbfounding stuff can happen .

Third season of Souma was relatively recently, so it is still fresh in the memory of its fans. Not to mention that maybe they can conclude the story in this last season.

In addition, animes do not exist to promote the manga (that is more is a side effect). Animes usually exist to sell merchandise.

While I get Maxy means completely the opposite here from me, I agree with his "organized like EIC wants the magazine to be read". Popular at front, others at bottom.

It kind of roughly is affected by popularity, as well as a bunch of other factora. Not enough to be useful outside of the bottom couple of series.

The 5/7/8 week thing had started before I came online, oldest source I’ve ever found was Oceaniser (of KEFI and arlong park fame, i think?) saying it without any further details. So like.... it’s unlikely

I think the most basic definition is someone getting sexual with someone else's girl. Then I guess there's more specific takes involving whether there's consent and the nature of the personal relationships between all the involved. MC would be a weird concept to apply to actual ****** (if anything, the girl would probably count as the main character).

NTR is just cuckold, the fetish for having some other guy take your girl (or vice versa). It's not some convoluted word. There's also netori, which is a fetish for you stealing someone else's girl/etc.

Back on topic though, I wonder how long it'll be until we get Soma's replacement, if it's just next issue that has a special oneshot or if they'll do extra oneshots for a few weeks until they can do a full batch (aka when Saiyuuki and probably Kamio Yui end).

Get what you mean. I still find it to be pretty empty and anticlimatic for a final grand chapter. Maybe having something more in the background would make it feel a bit more satisfactory.

I think it seems fine, personally.
It's like Kubo naming the final chapter "The Death and the strawberry" just like the first chapter. It's just a throwback and an indirect node to everyone who stuck with the series from start to end.
