Seeing the auhors comments , do you see Kawada writing an wrestling nekketsu like Kinikuman?
Well the name "Kawada" is a nickname he got because he used to look like the wrestler Kawada Toshiaki. He's also stated a number of times how big of a wrestling fan he is and how much Kinnikuman influenced him. I really want to see him attempt a battle manga and get some more recognition first, but I definitely feel like he's going to make something else combat-sport related, even if not straight away.

I'm still waiting for the savior of adventure genre. If anyone know any manga in this way without obnoxious ecchi please let me know.
I'm so done with edgy stuff and the only things I'm reading with some enthusiasm in jump rn are One Piece, the to-be-cancelled Double Taisei and the cancelled Last Sayuuki.
Read drstone, it's perfect and seems like the next one piece

Forget old series surviving today. I think the more interesting question is, what modern series would have done better in the past?

Toriko without a doubt would have done way better in the 80's or early 90's, in my opinion.
Medaka box would be srsly an new hit if it was released in the 90's.

We're blatantly arguing at this point which of the Big 3 could survive today, when I feel like a good topic that may be less divisive (I've jinxed it now) would be: which series do you think did poorly/below average in the past that might do well today?
Metallica Metalluca. It would have to be tweaked, but this one had potential. Too bad the manga wasn't as good as it needed to be.
Also Koisome Momiji.

Neverland already on par with MHA 21. Seems like it's really gonna become the biggest hit since AC/HQ. Haikyuu itself seems to be still below current MHA, tho. And speaking of MHA ,it looks like this volume reaching 600K is going to be like OP92 reaching 2M

Well, I think he can always mix both styles. Do a battle shonen but with battle like DB tournament.
I think Kawada have potential to make a hit next time (like Matsui with Assclass), so either a pure battle shonen or a wrestling manga is fine to me.

As already mentioned, definitely Psyren. I feel like it was too smart and serious for it's time.
Ironically Kagamigami, Iwashiro's title after that, might've worked way better if it released in the early 2000s or 90s.

The guy really knows his stuff, but never really gets the timing and mood right... :<

Possible, but debatable. Toriko was already rather successful by specifically banking on being a throwback to older times and it's silly gimmicks. That might have given it a strong niche of loyal core fans and curious people liking the different style.
Being in the age it was aping would have made it just another of many similar titles.

As for your question, maybe Yui Kamio. That series feels very much like an early 90s action-romance-comedy hybrid and the less strict rules about fanservice back in the day might have helped it's appeal.
(Also Kagamigami, as mentioned..)

When did the gap between HQ and MHA get so big? Last I remember, MHA new volumes were barely beating HQ ones. Or did HQ drop even more?

Both MHA and HQ dropped but HQ dropped harder.

I have read it till +-60. Its sense of adventure is good but I dropped it since the story did not seem to have a main goal. Also Tsukasa(?) sucks.

I'd say its way too late for it to be the next one piece especially since it is clear that it is starting to go towards its conclusion. Can only see it ending within the next two years.

Wait, so Prince of Tennis is only liked ironically in Japan? That...says a lot.
No there are plenty of people that love the series. Sure there are people that view it as a gag manga right now and have fun with it in that way but there are people that also really like the series. It’s still a juggernaut in terms of merch sales.

I might be mistaken, but I think they meant its sense of adventure, the "let's go out and explore what is basically an unknown world" aesthetic it has going on, and not necessarily its longevity.

That being said, I do agree that it seems like it is making its way toward a conclusion of some type, although if that were to be the conclusion of the series as a whole, or just this part, remains to be seen.

Nah, its not ironically. I don't even get what it means to ironically like something. If you like it, then you like it and don't pretend to be above others because you acnowledge its flaws. This whole 'guilty pleasure' thing is only used by people who aren't confident enough to say they like something because it isnt well received by others.
